Re: Non Scale Victory

Every few months I have an NSV in the form of body measurements decreasing. This morning the tape measure showed a 7cm decrease over all the spots I measure. I find the tape measure to be a steady, reliable tool in the battle against fat. The scales vary so much I find it difficult not to get downhearted, my tape measure saves the day for me; so thankful for that tape measure.

I have also noticed over the last three or four weeks, the weight distribution in my body is changing. The sides of my torso feel smoother and the bulges are disappearing. My thighs used to be really heavy, I was pear shaped; my shape is becoming more balanced. And, the fat on my tummy is slowly going. My waist however is taking longer, that fat seems to be very stubborn to get rid of. However, I feel encouraged by the decrease in my measurements. I have gone down two sizes in pants and jeans, from 18 to 14 and from an X-large to a Medium in tops. :)

Wow! Well done, @chinchin, for your reduction in weight - and size! The tape measure is certainly our friend on this journey!

YAY! The aspirational trousers are now wearable without
a) cutting off the circulation
b) enough muffin top to feed a small child'e birthday party
c) causing general fainting and sharp intakes of breath to those of a delicate disposition.
I bought them in Singapore last August- they are kind of pedal pushers in a fabulous green. Singapore sizing is tiny, but the XL was just a bit loose and with the redistribution of the flab I thought they would not be a worthwhile buy. BUT the L was definitely nippit. The tummy was not a pretty sight and the muffin was more cottage loaf.
I haven't really lost much since then but keep slipping them on just to see.
The muffin was reducing to almost wearable proportion but it was still unsightly.
I haven't shifted any beef for quite a while now- maybe should think about maintenance- and I also haven't been doing the monthly excise and measuring. I feel smaller and neater, so decided to give them a whirl this morning.
And what do you know? They can be worn.
Quite chuffed and must think about doing a proper add up of the millimetres that have gone over the past 2 and a bit years.

I love this thread, so inspiring!
I've had several NSVs since starting 5:2. The loss of an extra chin was one of the best as was losing the bulk of my large hips. My fingers are thinner and my wrists are small again, my thighs are thin too, I wish I could say the same for my ankles but we can't have everything we wish for.
Not such a victory is my thinner face which sometimes looks gaunt but I would rather that than be fat again.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the extra energy, I noticed that soon after starting this WOE. I can walk up the stairs without clinging to the rail and walking the dog up a hill is no longer difficult, I don't get so out of breath.
