Re: New plan: so far so good!

Izzy, thanks so much for asking!

Sadly, the service was the easy part of the day. Life surprised us and we had to run straight to the hospital where the dad of a very dear friend was admitted with a severe heart attack... :-(

Thank you, Izzy! Indeed, it seems that we are in for a long ride. I just hope that we will reach the finish line as winners...

Hi TML, as you know from other posts you've got me doing the Dukan Attack. I downloaded the Dukan Diet and Recipe book to my Kindle a couple of years ago. I did read them and immediately forgot all about them. So I've re-read and it all makes sense. The reason I never gave it a go is because it is a diet that restricts foods which never works for me. Like you I have decided to give the attack a go to kick start things and it will only be for three days.

This weekend is a quiet weekend and I'm looking forward to chilling. I am doing the attack today, tomorrow and Sunday then straight into a fast on Monday.

This is what I've eaten today -

Breakfast - oatbran pancake

Lunch - cottage cheese and king prawns mixed together with a little paprika served on a bed of cold ham

Dinner - chicken breast, shiritake noodles and chilli flakes

I bought the oatbran and noodles from the Dukan website. Like the noodles very much.

Apparently the theory behind eating pure protein is that 1. it draws the water out of our fat cells and 2. all lot more calories are used up by processing protein than carbohydrate or fat.

I haven't eaten much today but I have felt full. I did feel like I had a dodgey stomach coming on this afternoon but that passed. I do feel sorry for myself because of all the things I can't have. The family had pizza for tea and there is an open packet of digestives in the lounge. Right now I quite fancy a glass of wine and a huge bag of Dorittos.

It's only 3 days.

Thanks for inspiring me, TML.

You are most welcome! Best of luck to your new venture, I'm sure you'll do great! :-)
One of the best recipes I discovered while doing Dukan Attack was chicken cajun.
I marinate 3 small chicken breasts fillets (one and a half breast) in half a 200 grms pot of 0% yoghurt mixed with 2TS of cajun spice for as long as possible (from one hour to one night). When I'm hungry, I heat the grilling pan (full whack) and grill the chicken for about 7 minutes each side.
I eat two fillets with a sauce made with the rest of the yoghurt and 2 mashed garlic cloves and I save the third for the next day and make an omelette with it.

BTW, I can also make yoghurt taste like mayo. Let me know if you like the idea and I'll give you the recipe.

Sure!
1 200grms pot of 0% yoghurt (you can also use semi fat or full fat if you don't care about the calories)
1 heaped dessert spoon of sweetener or one sachet of Sweet n Low
1 heaped dessert spoon of mustard (I use either dijon or Coleman's)
Pinch of salt
Whisk everything till you get a smooth, mayo-like cream.

Depending on what I serve it with, I add garlic, ginger, onion mash, pepper, tabasco... whatever I fancy.

Progress report Day 2.

I don't weigh myself as I find it demoralising but this week I am. So this morning 1lb off.

Breakfast
Dukan pancake

Lunch
Tuna and cottage cheese
Yogurt

Dinner
Omlette with chicken, onion and mixed herbs
Yogurt

A couple of times I've felt light headed, my stomach gurgled a lot this afternoon and nothing on the toilet department today. This isn't difficult to do but it isn't particularly enjoyable. Only one more day to go.

1 pound off??? WOW!!! Good for you babes!

I'm a tuna hater, if you are too you might want to try smoked trout. It's lower cal (and cheaper) than smoked salmon and it's good with cottage cheese. :-)

Also, if you find yourself in need of a filling snack, low fat turkey ham (deli style, as they say in NY) and low fat cream cheese are very good with each other.

Thanks guys.

Izzy it is the organic one. We have a small H & B in Inverness which I don't go to very often. Next time I'm there I'll have a look and will certainly be stocking up on the zero noodles.

TML, I'm not great with fish but I do love tuna and shell fish. The biggest problem with tuna is that I have to share it with our two cats as they are mad for it.

Thanks for the tips.

You are most welcome! :-)

BTW, if you order from H&B there's free UK shipping over a certain amount of money. I think it's around 20 quid so you can stock up in zero noodles and oatbran.

My kitty adores smoked salmon. She likes tuna too but she can recognise the package of smoked salmon and if she sees it going in the fridge she stands right in front of it and yells (I'm sure she's swearing) till she gets me to use it (and give her a few bites). If I could afford it, I'd give her smoked salmon every single day...

Dang - how high are you in the Highlands?

I've a packet of 'rescued' smoked salmon here that could do with a good home (my OH keeps saying he'll eat it but hasn't shown any signs of doing so for the last few days...).

Do PM if you're nearby...
