FOUND YOU!!

LOL I was starting to think there was no fitbit chat for May.

Re: One vs Flex. I have the One, Hubby has the Flex. He's convinced it doesn't track all of his steps. The One doesn't give as many "very active" minutes. However the One *does* track stairs and hills etc, and gives a very, very satisfying readout of how many floor equivalents you climbed when you do a bunch of hills. I would never trade my One for his Flex, but I'm pretty sure he would prefer my One.

Thank you Tracie, on that basis the One sounds better especially as we intend climbing a few hills, and it sounds better for the stair machine at work and HIIT with resistance.

I don't know anything about HIIT, @Debs, but it won't count the "stairs" you climb on the stair machine, because it actually measures elevation change.

My hubs has the zip, he gets 17- 19k steps for a round of golf. Yesterday my flex battery was flat and I didn't know so only 9k steps for me. I got the Nike one @Debs because of this forum too. Never even heard of them till then, I've even got a few friends and my sis to get one.

Debs as long as you don't forget to charge and wear it anyone will do. But I wouldn't recommend the zip as you need to buy batteries and the others you charge via USB.

Ta all. Have read all the online reviewsd and am veering towards the Flex so I can keep it on my wrist. May have to go colour coordinated though!

I can't remember exactly why I went Flex rather than Jawbone or Nike - I did look at all the options, and *think* the decision was because Flex did the things I wanted (steps, wear on wrist, sync to both phone and 'puter) and was most easily available in Australia at the time, and best value for money. But it's all a bit hazy now (that memory of mine is a bit dodgy...) The only thing the jawbone has that I'd like is a buzz when you've been stationary for too long (you set the time eg half hour or hour, to stop you being idle for too long) which I'd like to get me moving when I'm working.

I've just been given the all clear following tests from my second surgery this year so I feel I'm in a good place to deal with the diagnosis I've been given, the 3 monthly follow-up and the mental strain that brings and simply try and go back to my "fasting routine" and my life as I knew it, or probably more accurately to my new life

Ive been off work for 3 weeks already, the first few recovering but I've been trying to walk every day despite the rain and now 70%+ humidity we're having (you'd think we lived in the tropics not the east coast of the US; I think I'd rather have snow than this mugginess, it sucks my energy and drains me) ...

... but boy it's tough to keep up with you lot; I'm averaging about 12-15k steps a day and I'm struggling to maintain my position within the top 10 on the leaderboard. But what a motivator that is, especially now as I say since I'm off work

I love my one, and wear it around my neck on a chain (the kind you put your work ID card on). I find I'm not worried about losing it, putting it in the wash with my clothes or it falling off as I'm walking :-)

Good to hear you're recovering well Jeni. Yeh, the leaderboard top 10 is a lot of steps isn't it? Motivating for sure.

Well I went and fractured my ankle Thursday right after my morning walk. Walked off a step, turned the ankle and heard a knarly sound. Crawled into my house, called my husband, went to ER and was surprised it was broken in addition to severe sprain. See a surgeon on Tuesday but really in a funk about not getting my steps in every day. Then of course this will reduce the number of calories I can eat each day. And the weather is screaming, come walk with me! Having a pity party for myself ashamed to say.

Sorry to hear that GoLinda. Have that party you deserve it. Then shake yourself up and get whatever exercise you can safely do. Yoga, swimming. But make sure you take care of yourself first .

Oh, GoLinda, so sorry to hear about your accident! I found out that while I was on crutches, I burned more calories/did not gain so much. It was after I was able to walk without them that I started gaining 'cuz I walked so slowly!!!! Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

Oh, so sorry, Linda! Maybe you can find a really good book, and sit under a tree and read. So you don't waste the good weather...

I was given a flex as a present and I have a few questions
I don't walk for exercise ,I know I should and will get into it soon
My question, I do power yoga which is really hard and I work up quite a sweat for 90 min but the flex says I was active for 4min and I got no steps?
My other question ,how does one track sleep
The interesting thing for me was I did notice that I do about 10k steps just in a normal day of work ,shops ,housework
Plan to start walking my dog when she is a bit older....just a puppy

Oh Linda, I was wondering if you had a problem or lost your fitbit or something. You're usually kicking my butt!! I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle and I hope you heal up quickly.

Jeninboston - I agree about the weather! I'm glad you're doing better and its nice to see you back at the top of my friends list :-)

SarahG - I would add the yoga as an extra activity in the tracker program. Yoga, power is an activity in the log you can add, so I'm sure they've figured out some calories to give for that :-)
