FITBIT Chat for May.
02 May 2014, 06:39
It's the 2nd of May already.

Let's hope that the better weather and longer evenings (in the UK) will mean that we can all get more active and enjoy being outside more.

Happy Fitbitting everyone. :clover:

And looking forward to welcoming more new Fitbitters this month maybe?

I've just posted this separately, thought that all you Fitbit and MFP users might find it interesting,
Especially the bit about step count rather than activity adjustments. Wonder now this will impact on things.

You can now track your steps onto your My Fitness Pal using the IPhone 5S M7 motion sensor.
I did notice that the sleep cycle app also tracks steps now.
If you're already using these two together it now lists your steps on MFP not as activity adjustments. Should be interesting.

These all depend on you having your phone on you at all times though. So a fitbit or jawbone etc is still better. But it still saves a few pounds by not having to buy a new device doesn't it.

Can someone please explain all this to me, a techno- challenged person of little understanding?

@Sallyo The Fitbit is a pedometer that links via Bluetooth to the Fitbit website where you can monitor your daily activity levels and compare them to other people in Groups that you join. It is also addictive!

Small whinge time - I just did a good solid 30 mins on the Cross Trainer and it has given me a measly 4 mins of Very Active grrrr. Not a good start to May for me I'm really going to have to try hard and get outside, but my son's exams (International Baccalaureate) start on Monday and I have 3 weeks where my free time will be limited as I ferry him to and from exams and make sure he is fed, watered and kept calm.

Can't you enter it manually @SianS ?
Also I've been worried about you, know that you are alive and kicking from the leaderboard, but where have you been?
Good luck to son of, yes it's a busy busy exam time isn't it. I've got to go on a course to help out our IB students next month. Exciting stuff.

Thanks @carieoates for your concern, I have been lurking on the forum but haven't had much to say as I've only been fasting when I need to shift a pound or two.
April seems to have all been about University and school things with my son. He has accepted his Firm and Insurance offers, applied for accommodation, applied for the loan, and now exams are about to start. I find I can't get the whole thing out of my mind. But with the IB the exams are clustered into 3 weeks and the results are out in early July, so less time to worry.
I noticed you have been promoted to Moderator status btw, very well deserved in my opinion.

I ended the month with a tummy bug and climbing back out from that and increasing my steps back up. Loving the sun and longish spring here in KY - hasn't banged into summer as it usually does -- yet! Great walking weather!

Good luck to all Fitbitters this month - I've got another half marathon at the end of May so should be keeping up with my paces, in the sunshine hopefully! Question - Has Fitbit chat moved permenantly to the exercise forum now (it was in the non diet chat subforum last month!)

Sorry for confusion, it was me, I started the thread, it always used to be in the hot and sweaty. I can move it if it's too confusing. @Franglaise

Oh no, personally I prefer to see it in the hot and sweaty forum, that is where I spend most time on this website...rather than in the chat forums. I think it should stay here, hopefully everyone else will find it soon enough!

I like it in exercise too - that's where I came looking thinking "I don't think I've seen the fitbit thread yet in May, wonder if there is one".

We've just had a really cold snap, and WOW I"m not looking forward to winter. I've found it very hard to get out of bed for my usual early morning walks when it's 2 or 3 degrees.
