Surely everyone does some exercise in their day to day living? Do you mean formal exercise? I look after and ride my horse, walk the dogs, swim and do pilates once a week.I would do more but have a few back problems which get in the way.

Another gym bunny here! I do Zumba, shallow and deep aqua classes (twice) yoga and Body Shape every week, plus brisk walks at lunchtime a couple of times a week. Have been doing this for more than three years. And even though I am vegan I could not lose weight, due to my Coeliac and menopause I think. Since doing 5:2 for the past 5 weeks I have lost about half a kilo a week and now my tummy does not get in the way in yoga asanas!
I find I have heaps of energy on fast days and I like doing a full-on class as it then helps with the restlessness at night after fasting.

As much as possible, I go to the gym 6 times a week before work at 4am and do HIT, SIT and weights, as heavy as possible. I have recently upped my exercise as I have hit a plateau and need to shake things up a bit. I live on a mine site 3 weeks out of 4 with a very good gym and I have no other distractions so I may as well be in a gym rather than the bar like most people here!!

I do absolutely no exercise at all - except walking from the far end of the car park (to protect my baby from door dings!) and taking the stairs rather than the lift (as long as it's not more than 2 or 3 floors!)

I'm interested in how CF and 5:2 works out for you. I have a CF membership, but have been contemplating canceling it. I guess my reasons for cancelling would be the expense and I seldom go; however, if I see results, I'll probably be much more likely to go regularly. I was doing well for a while, but then got sick, hurt my ankle and had minor surgery on my ear which put me out of commission for about a month. I also have a regular gym membership so I was thinking I could just read on the treadmill or walk outside (since it's starting to stay lighter later in Atlanta) while listening to the Economist.

Any exersize is good..and all makes you feel good....I used to be scared to exersize on fast days..but now do a spin class with metafit on the evening of a fast day...before I have dinner...and I have tons of energy and suffer no ill effects...also body pump and kettle bells great for toning up....it's all good x

I like to get my moneys worth out of my gym membership...
Mon, Thur and Sun is Body Combat
Tue is Aerobics
Fri and Sat are toning classes (upper body weights / squats & lunges / some aerobic stuff).
On Wednesday I go to a tap dancing class, which isn't particularly energetic, but better than sitting on my bum all night I suppose.
I also have a 15 minute cycle ride to and from work, which doesn't feel like much exercise at the time, but I suppose it adds up to 2.5 hours cycling a week (no way I'd do that at the gym).
My losses so far average at about 1 lb a week. But have only about half a stone to lose and I'm noticing it in my shape and feeling of well being.
To those worrying about how they'd cope with exercise on a fast day, I'd say just give it a go. I was really pleasantly surprised at how strong and energetic I feel doing a high impact aerobic exercise class early evening after having only fluids all day (I look forward to my cals in one meal after my exercise classes).

I do the jillian Michaels 30 day shred, 5 / 6 times a week. Started doing it way before 5:2 plan but wasn't losing any weight even though I was controlling the calories and low carb, but since following the 5:2 plan , weight has started to shift, especially around the tummy area. I have been only on this WOL for 2 weeks, 5 fasts, lost 1.5kgs.

Just started 5 2 and swim for 30 mins 3 or 4 times a week, depending on work. I do 25 to 30 lengths. Didn't have much weight loss before I began 52 but have felt more toned and less stressed when swimming and most importantly I enjoy it. I'm hoping the combination of exercise and this WOE will do the trick.

I'm dreadful with gyms, I pay out and don't go, have had several swims = £100 a dip.
I told the guys this and said they had to tell me 2 classes to come to and I would, given choice I put it off. I like the high intensity of it and I like weights. Plus not done any before so learning stuff.
I'm not very fit so a bit of encouragement is good and this box has only just opened so they're very enthusiastic.
My concern is if I start to gain muscle, which I will, is that it will skew my weightloss stats, which shouldn't be an issue but...
I meander with the dogs, they chase eachother so I get less exercise now there's 2 of them.
If I was you, I'd defo ditch one membership, just decide if you want high intensity or a more endurance-type exercise. Walking more is probably just as good as anything.

Now the weather has marginally improved, I have started walking my 4yr old grandson to school on a morning instead of using the car. It's only a 2 mile round trip for me but I do it about 4 days a week. It's only been the last two weeks mind you, prior to that I was doing nothing. However, I used to cycle 100mile a week and am going tomorrow to look at a new cycle. Bring it on

I play roller derby, so I skate for 2+ hours twice a week, and do 1 hour off skates which is a combo of resistance, weights and cardio. That's the only formal exercise, but there are also the daily dog walks and I primarily use my bike for transport.

I'm starting going to the gym, for the first time ever, in about 3 hours. Slightly anxious about surviving on a fast day, but if you all can do it... wish me luck

How did you get on at the gym Lisa?? x

I nearly died! Lol. I think that's because I'm so out of shape tho, not so much due to fasting. I think I'd cope better in the morning on a fast day, rather than the evening. By then my energy tends to run out.
