I just sent you my email address. I wish there was an easier way to do this.

Jolly good :) I can't see group friends on the fitbit app. I can only see my non group ones, so will I have to log in from the net to do that?

7 in the group so far! I think just the idea of the group has motivated me today. I've done my 15,000 steps today for the first time this week. My goal is 60 mins very active steps a day too. I'm not there yet, but only 11 to go.

How about everyone else? Are you near to your goals?

I have changed my name to umleila on there which I thought it was anyway ( it was rachelk before :) )

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about getting a fitbit flex to see if I can motivate myself to move more and be more active. Just interested in hearing opinions from anyone who uses or has tried one..

Thanks all!!

Looks like Franglaise has joined us too!

I've only had my device since Sunday, and every day I have exceeded 10,000 steps, 10 floors, 30 very active minutes and 5 miles. But I have only once exceeded 2,184 calories burned (which is apparently the target they have set for me?). Does anyone else struggle to burn all their calories? How is that number derived?

I do love my new toy!

Hi curiouser&curiouser I don't have a flex so I can't give you any info on that. I'm sure others that do, will help you soon :)

I have the zip which is the cheaoest of the fitbit gadgets. It has many pros and few cons Int opinion. I would like the flex but its two main cons for me are that it is not as accurate as a step counter on the body and there is no display on the flex other than its coloured light system.

Mummybunny2005 as far as I know the calories are based on you Basic metabolic rate (bmr) which is based on your age, height and weight combined with your total daily expenditure (tdee). Please anyone with more knowledge, or a better explanation help me out :) which device do you have? One of the cons of the zip for me is that it doesn't count floors.

The more info you input into the fitbit, the more it can accurately gauge your calorie burn. You can set your own targets though. My daily calorie target is 2000 and I get around that on a daily basis. The difference between me getting all my steps in and a basically sedentary day is about 400 calls I think.

Well done on achieving your targets :like:

I'm in. Although I believe it is only fair to warn all of you that I belong to four other groups and they eat my dust:). How is that for a challenge?

I will join in, too. Need to check over at Fitbit first and then pm you when I'm on my laptop, instead of this tablet. I forget my log in details. I don't really frequent their forum, just check my data. Sometimes, I don't even do that since it syncs up at Sparkpeople and MyFitPal. There is a group and message board on sparkpeople that I like better than the Fitbit site.

Ah, just landed after a long flight from Seattle to NY, so today was a struggle but I managed in the last few minutes to go a bit over 10000 steps.mind you my day was shortened in 3 hours in addition to the long flight...so I'm pleased

Congrats, Einatbl. I finally got 10,000 in sometime after 11:30pm. It's just too hot to go out and walk. Mid 90s here again today. So, I drug out the laptop to log in at Fitbit and get my info. Site is down for maintenance again tonight. :curse:

I'm in - but I don't wear my fitbit every day (if I go to the beach for instance) so my averages aren't great. My calorie requirement is around 2100 when I run my 5kms (which I do most days). Otherwise it is around 1800.

Yesterday was a housework day, which was dull and tiring and didn't register much on the Fitbit. Today I've been for a run and am up to 8500 steps and its only 7.30 AM.

Gotlinda and 43tweaker I will add you both as soon as I'm near my computer.

Well done Einatlb :) I hit almost all my targets yesterday except the very active minutes. I was happy the day I flew to the UK as I got an extra two hours to fit in my steps. Still didn't manage it mind you!

Wow! Sians that is very impressive.

I don't follow my calorie requirement on the fitbit anymore since I started 5:2. It does fluctuate throughout the day depending on your activity levels. I haven't got up yet and my allowance for today is starting at 1444.

Have a good day everyone :)

The calorie burn is based on BMR with add-ons for movement clocked by the fitbit itself.

2674 calories is my daily target, but I burn 17 calories per 15 minutes at rest according to the fitbit site. 17 * 4 * 24 = 1632 which is about right for my RMR so the target is for me to do an extra 1042 cals a day or 63.8% more than resting calories.
