Good morning! It's a perfect summer's day here in Melbourne, and I'm in for my second fast day after returning from holidays. I plan to get out in the garden for a while, until it gets too warm, then will need to look for other distractions!

Who else is in today? I expect quite a few, including some new starters. :) Best wishes and good luck everyone! :clover:
It's 21:25 Sunday in the UK but this part of Sunday is also part of my 4:3 Monday FD so I'm joining you :)

Thanks for leading us out into our FD :)
Hey @Sassy1! I'm in. It's fast #3 for 2015 and I've already been for a walk along the Wilmot Road. 5878 on my pedometer. Off to the doc in a minute to see about my persistent cough. Just polishing off my black coffee and then I'm meeting some friends in a coffee shop in Devonport. Pity about that. But I will stick to black tea or coffee and hold off on the pastries. After that, it's home to bottle apricots, finish sewing my outfit for my niece's wedding next week. Bit of an issue with the pants pattern, It's far too big! Welcome any newbies. Keep logging into this page, newbies and tell us how you're getting on. It helps to share the hunger pains and it is a distraction and keeps you out of the kitchen.
Its Sunday night for me, but I'm in on monday! Been a shaky month diet wise so back on the forum for support. I try to keep busy on my fast days but I've been struggling as the day comes to an end and my starving gene kicks and makes me turn to really naughty food. Especially having so much naughty food in the house this season! Well, to keep busy I have 4 sets of toddler twins coming to lunch with their mums! Should be busy!!! Library in the afternoon!
Back at work today and back on the fasts . My eating had not been great but had been staving off weight gain with my half marathon training....

However, that was derailed when I badly sprained my ankle on the 29th December, meaning I couldn't spend my holidays working off the previous month's excesses..... instead ended up watching tv on my rear end. And of course the scale is up about 2kgs compared to pre xmas

Oh well, I suppose that makes sticking to this even more important as I can't workout like I usually do...... I'm hoping to start back training next week... foot still slightly green/black two weeks later....

Good luck to everyone
Hi @Sassy1, I'm in and it's good to be settling back into fasting. There is something mental as well as physically cleansing about fasting. All the best fasters everywhere! :victory:
Hi @Sallyo, I expected to see you here today! Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy. I seem to almost always have coffee with friends on a fast day, so it is one way to avoid consuming the pastries! I am sure it is easier to take in a pattern than try to make it bigger!! Good for you, happy sewing. :)

Welcome @Viki x, I know exactly how you feel about diet over the Christmas period... On fast days, do you have a salty drink when the hunger gets too much? I finds that really helps keep me going until dinner time. I have a commercial packet miso soup, but some people manage with just a stock cube (or part of one) in hot water. Really try to resist those more tempting foods on a fast day - remember, you can have them the next day. Avoiding any snacking is best, but I understand how difficult it can be. Can you have dinner a bit earlier on a fast day? And of course keep drinking. Thus endeth the lecture!! Good luck! :clover:

I am having my first black coffee for the day, after an hour in the garden. It's already feeling quite warm outside. :D But I will do a little bit more before retiring indoors.
Two more posts as I was posting!

Hi @chinchin, I totally agree that fasting feels both physically and mentally cleansing - and I expect it is! I just wish I could bottle this feeling and bring it out when I start overeating to remind me how much better I feel when I am not pigging out!!! :D :D Looking forward to meeting you at the end of next week. :)

What a nuisance spraining your ankle, @nznicole. :( I know how you feel about the problems with just sitting watching TV... Hope your recovery is completed very soon and you can get back to training. (You can always do some exercises that don't put any weight on your ankle in the interim while in front of the TV... ) Hope the return to fasting goes well. :)
Hi everyone. Im here although my spirit is just not in it today. No idea why maybe because its such a gloomy day here.
Well here's to a successful fast whatever the weather
Someone just drove past yelling "fluffy" out their car window, Im thinking lost cat? Or could fluffy be a dog?
Oh you lovely people out east, we can always rely on you to bring it on and pass the relay batten! Off to bed, late as usual.
Send the fast our way and across the world :clover:  :victory:
Bed for me.
Changed my name for the day

Home from town. Dr visit went well. I have perfect blood pressure. He asked me if i'd lost any weight and I said, not for a year. But when he checked my weight it was 71kg and they had 76kg written in my records. Did you lose that deliberately, says he. Yes, says me, on the 5:2 Diet. Oh I wish I could lose that much,he said. My sister lost 14 stone on that diet, but she's put it all back on; she is a fan of sticky date puddings. Oh, says me, you have to stick to it. Later when he was referring me for a chest x-ray, he started recommending various cafes in Latrobe - go to such and such for morning tea, then go on to the Lucas for lunch. I would, says me, except I'm on a fast day, so i can't eat until dinner time. I am about to start a course of antibiotics. Then I met my friends and they all had delicious salads with chorizo and bacon and pine nuts and pink eye potatoes. I had black coffee and lots of water and didn't mind at all. Now I am home, but I forgot to get the fish for dinner, so I'm off to Latrobe for my chest X-ray and no cafes and thence to the fish shop. Bottles all ready for the apricots. Now cooling syrup and when I get back from Latrobe, I can pack the jars.
I'm in. 5.00 am here, I've been awake since 3.00, not a good start :(
way to go @Sallyo. Oh dear @Skinnyjeans that is early.

I really enjoyed reading about your conversation with the Doctor, I don't know why, but it made me smile  So it's a happy start to my 3rd fast day of 2015 :victory:
