Kind of fasting today. Kind of because I still can't go cycling without taking a breafast but I'll try to stay inside de 500 cal. However I may go to 600 cal without feeling a bit guilty

A little worried about hitting the hunger at lunch time. Have bullion and miso lined up...
I have had a dull but worthy salmon salad and will be off to bed soon. I am just watching a BBC program called the 'Truth about Fat' and realise I am one of those who's full hormone never fully kicks in and once I start eating, I generally can't stop. This is why fasting has been such a huge benefit, controlling those feelings and overcoming them!
Started well, ran 5k at the gym to make sure I could (I'm on the verge of trying my first ever 'Parkrun' soon).
Now at home but at work too (if you see what I mean). Today is unusual because I have a poetry night this evening at a pub, so I'm hoping I get through it without saying yes to a glass of wine and resisting the crisps ...
Good luck everyone, especially anyone who's new to fasting ... it gets easier!

I haven't really tried soups on a fast day. Do you just stick to vegetable so it is easy to calculate calories? I love lots of soups with pulses in but find that difficult to calculate amounts and I always want to eat too much of them as they are so delicious
Hi sorry I took so long to respond, Denwoman. I love soup and I did see a documentary some time ago that featured Dr Mosley that talked about soup being better in some respects than eating solid food. The doco is 10 Things You Need To Know About Losing Weight and I have included the link here:

If you go to 32 mins 40 seconds you will see the 6th thing you need to know and that is eating soup.
Generally, because I am lazy, I just have two cans of Campbell's soup on a fast day. As a male, I get a few more calories in my allowance so two cans of soup (not the condensed stuff but the ready made soups) usually adds up to 2400-2500kj. Perfect. A woman can have maybe a can and a half a day. Never fails to fill me up. I eat twice a day on fast days.
Here's the link to Campbell's Australia for the kj content. Two serves per can, remember...

Anyway, thanks for the question. I hope this helps. Enjoy the documentary if you haven't see it before.
Thanks Fishbaum. I will check out the doco
I'm in today because I have to stick to a draconian no-carb diet anyway in prep for a PET (cancer) scan tomorrow to see if persistent abdominal pain could mean I've gone from Stage III to Stage IV melanoma. Scary, scary stuff. But hoping for a clean scan so I can celebrate 5 years' survivorship and get on with life!
