Good luck Gimmick! :clover: wishing you well.
Gimmick wrote: Hey all, hope those of you wrapping up had a good fast day.

I'm in today because I have to stick to a draconian no-carb diet anyway in prep for a PET (cancer) scan tomorrow to see if persistent abdominal pain could mean I've gone from Stage III to Stage IV melanoma. Scary, scary stuff. But hoping for a clean scan so I can celebrate 5 years' survivorship and get on with life!

Good luck for tomorrow Gimmick.
Closing the kitchen for the day now. I was hoping to do a bulletproof coffee only fast but I did two hours in the gym today and wanted to eat. So the cupboard staple of a whole tin of tomatoes, tomato puree, garlic clove smoked paprika, zero noodles and 10 frozen prawns hit the spot nicely. A massive portion for 170 calories. Total calories for the day 389. That will do.
Good luck with your scan tomorrow Gimmick I hope all is well.

Just finishing my fast day with supper in about an hour. It was very much needed after an overeating & drinking weekend that was very enjoyable, birthday celebrations, but bad calorie wise. I may try 4:3 this week just to encourage my body to lose the extra intake more quickly because my scales showed I had put on 3 & 1/2 lbs. That is hopefully mostly fluid retention.
Just finishing off at work now, have just had coffee with skimmed milk. Not sure if will eat tonight, will be busy doing housework to keep me occupied.

My best wishes to Gimmick for tomorrow.

Sending you vibes for a good result Gimmick
Thanks for all the support! VERY much appreciated.

Dang - rawkaren's diet and exercise for the day are inspiring!

Isis: sounds like that's got to be fluid retention or scale problems or something to have that big of a bump. Bet it vanishes in no time.

All my best back at everyone :-)
Aww good luck for tomorrow, Gimmick! That really is scary business...

I'm done for the day; a quiet victory for me as I never get through a Monday fast past late morning! I had roast chicken and a stir-fry of courgette, mushrooms and garlic for dinner, and my usual sugar-free jelly!

Keep going those who are still at it :)
Gimmick - hope everything goes well tomorrow.
Only water for the entire day, then dinner some thin slices of "fall "sausage between a hamburger bread - read the labels, used the kitchen scale and landed round 450kcal. Feel good about my restraint :)
Dream of Fort Myers (Florida) and the sound of the surf and palm trees in the Middle of icky Swedish late autumn. At least there is no snow….
Good luck for tomorrow Gimmick :clover:

I am thoroughly peed off with myself. I had a few weeks off and I'm struggling so badly to get back into it. I blew my first fast day back last Monday despite giving myself permission to only do one fast last week. Today I blew it again
It's not evening meals I am struggling with, I have got a nice little set of low cal recipes for an evening meal but during the day I am finding it impossible. I don't really enjoy soup as a lunch, porridge is no good for a fast day for me because without a bit of dried fruit and a touch of golden syrup it just tastes like wallpaper paste (I know I'm fussy but if I don't enjoy it I wont stick to it). In the summer I find it quite easy, a bit of fruit, a low cal jelly, some ice pops, and it's all good but work is cold and dark and stressful - 3 things guaranteed to have me reaching for the chocolate, cakes, and nice hot carb heavy comfort foods.

I don't know what to do. I've already put back on the little bit of weight I lost and a little more to keep it company
Good luck to everyone today! Especially those dealing with major stress besides the normal everyday life. We are all here to fast with you and support you.

Today is my fourth fast and my husband's FIRST! So far, so good. It's only about 3:30pm here and he is spreading his calories throughout the day so we'll see how tonight goes. I hope he sticks with it! I'm feeling great! I've lost and inch and three quarters and 5 lbs. so far! I keep envisioning my goal weight in 22 weeks. That's a 1-lb weight loss per week. I am so hopeful to actually get there. It keeps me accountable. April will be here before we know it. The time will pass anyway so be strong! How much better will we all look and feel come springtime?

I can sooooo relate to this, it happened to me! it took ages to get back into fasting and slowly but surely over the last couple of months i'm getting back into it again. it's annoying cos before it became a natural WOL for me, but I lost track over the summer and it's been like starting all over again :( really I've just persevered with the knowledge that I've done it before so I can do it again, and faith that it does get easier..

It's bound to take a few practices getting back into it, so try not to be too harsh on yourself, self-criticism is NOT our friend! I'm working on this myself.

So, be kind to yourself and hang in there :) you're not on your own - it was the days I found hardest too, so for the time being i'm jiggling my fasts around to my busiest days til I've properly re-mastered it!
Thanks ChiChi, I will try not to beat myself up too much. I had a good low cal dinner (turkey burgers and stirfried veg)and I will try again on Thursday. I wont give up on this, it is what I want, somehow that just makes these failures all the more difficult to handle.

Ah well, onwards and hopefully downwards.
Best of luck to those of you still fasting on Monday - it is now Tuesday here. Special wishes to Gimmick.

For those struggling with sticking to the fast day, I echo ChiChi's comments. Also, I find that black coffee (not strong) really helps when hunger strikes, and I do drink an almost continuous supply of teas thru the day, more to give me something other than food to put in my mouth, than helping with hydration - tho that is a benefit too, of course.

For those "getting back on the wagon" - you did it before, you can do it again :) Read thru the forum during those dark winters days - the vast array of experiences shared, issues discussed and support given, can really help with motivation to stick with it.

Best wishes :)
I'm in today! Had some canned soup for lunch. For dinner I had a stirfry with some shrimp. I put Ponzu sauce on, it's like soy sauce with lime. It was only 10 calories so that was good. I also bought the stir fry all cut up in the fresh veg section, so it was very easy!

Good luck to you, Gimmick, keep us posted!

To all that are struggling, I find personally it helps me to know I can eat something (even if I don't always eat it) I keep a very low cal snack around just in case. Usually I just want a different taste in my mouth. I'll have a bag of cut veggies, or a wasabi seaweed pack for 16 calories. Good luck to you! You can do it again!
