Oh @Maggiee, how annoying for you! Maybe you shouldn't try to go straight into fasting, but give yourself a few days of eating normally and wait til you feel ready to fast. If you keep trying to fast but end up overeating, this could be very demoralizing. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide. :)
 Thought I would choose the smilie wearing sunglasses . . .because I feel cool - literally! It freezing here in the UK and reading the posts from Australia has warmed me up! I am starving and it is too cold to go out and garden in frosty weather so I am stuck in with a full larder of tempting food! But my will power is strong, as is my imagination, yea. . .I am on a sandy beach, edged with palms, azure waves lightly splashing on the shoreline, I stroll along with head held high beneath a sun hat, sunglasses on and wearing a white bikini. ........! Some wish, fast forward 30yrs, I am stuck here with a woolly jumper and today I am starving!
Well I here I am, it's my first fast since g-d knows when. Reading about all that Aussi warm weather make me almost cry - here the wind is hard, my walls badly insulated and my tummy grumbles. And - it's 2pm and starting to get dark, at 4pm it's like a sack....
Dinner will be something Hairy, probably the Moussaka. Back to sew a compass needle.
I'm in today...just as many of you are finishing the fast. Congratulations Sallyo on the dress! Clothing does motivate me! I have few things tucked away as well. Love hearing about your lives so far away. OH and I are off to Seattle for Thanksgiving on Tuesday. A holiday surrounded by food - :-( Thanks, everyone!
Just popping in to wish all you Monday fasters a good day! Sounds like some hot tea will be needed for those of you in chilly climates! I fasted yesterday and hot tea was my friend!

Have a great one!
I'm in for the day.

It's raining here, and cold enough that the rain is falling on the icicles that have seeped out of the cliff behind our house. That means black ice on the roads. So I will stay home until it gets a lot warmer.

@Juliana.Rivers, I love pad thai, but it is the single highest carb food I can eat and raises my blood sugar to dreadful heights. Small portions can easily contain 100 g of carbs, a third more than a large bagel! So it is possible your ice cream episode occurred because you experienced a blood sugar swing that made you crave more sweets.
I'm checking in this morning :) I also did 16-8 on Saturday to try and control my eating that day and it went well :) Thursday is thanksgiving so my usual Thursday fast will be on Wednesday. Have a good day everyone :)
I'm in!
And wondering why on earth I bought a gorgeous BBC Good Food magazine full of Christmas deliciousness. Clearly masochistic!! It is now just gone 5pm and my tummy has been rumbling for some time. I hope everyone is having a good day.
This is my second week on this site and this week I'm only going to fast on Monday and Thursday. We have a Christmas party at work on Friday and since I had a good start last week I thought two days of fasting will be enough. My day has gone well. I'm still amazed of not feeling hungry at all on days with this little food.

Hope everybody had a good fasting day today!
I'm in today! Won't write much now.....because tomorrow is my Fastiversary.....so am going to write shed loads then!

Hope it's gone well for everyone!

Nice to see you @Hazelnut20! :like:
@SusieKa, it sounds like fasting is really suiting you. :like: 2 fasts a week is plenty and sustainable for the long term.No need to tweak if all is going well .
Sending hugs and chicken soup to @Brand-ie I :bowl: hope you get better soon.
@Maggiee it usually takes me a few weeks to get back in to fasting after a holiday. By week 3 I'm usually back on track. If I fail a fast on Monday I don't retry on Tuesday but just try again on Thursday. Eventually it clicks.
Xxx julianna
I've been fasting today. I went to a Golden Wedding Anniversary lunch yesterday and ate, and drank, far more than I would usually, so today's fast was really needed! I am mindful that I am setting off on a twelve-day cruise on this coming Sunday and I do not want to start at a weight over my target! There will be enough damage caused while I am away without starting a pound or two over!
I have been busy in the kitchen today. Someone gave me a bag of quinces so they have been boiling on the stove . I am now straining them through muslin in order to make quince jelly, but the liquid is dripping through very slowly. I have never made it before and probably won't again if I don't get a decent amount of jelly.
I have also started my mincemeat, ready for Christmas. It is currently sitting in a bowl to merge all the flavours and tomorrow it will be heated very gently in the oven so that the butter (I don't use suet) covers all the individual pieces of fruit. It smells delicious! I have been busy in the kitchen today. Someone gave me a bag of quinces so they have been boiling on the stove . Good luck to our American friends who are only part-way through your fasting day. Onwards and downwards!
I'm coming to the end of a successful fasting day. Although I have been maintaining for a while if you look at my tracker you can see that I have had a bit of blip recently. Have given myself a stern talking to and today has been a good fast. Thank goodness it is nearly over though :) Good luck to all just starting their fast day. xx
Today's been OK with respect to appetite and food.

:clover: to those with many more hours to go or who are finding today difficult.
I do like reading about everyone's fast day on the morning after I have finished - the joys of being hours ahead! Some US friends will still have a few hours to go...
And although many in Oz are suffering with extreme heat, that is NOT the case where I live. It feels freezing. 6C this morning, and we are almost at summer. I know that is not cold by US and UK standards, but I am getting fed up with it (tho this is totally typical for where I live, so I should stop whining!!)
Am looking forward to breakfast! :)
Hope you all had a successful fast, especially all those new to 5:2. :) (and great to hear from Hazelnut again. :) )
