After a few weeks following this regime my weight loss has slowed this week. Today is my second fast day for the week and I am following the advice of many here and trying to just eat once this evening. So far so good - it is nearly 11.30 am and haven't been hungry yet. Have walked the dog and done a step class so feeling full of beans atm but have got a reasonably quiet afternoon planned in case my energy levels crash. I will drink loads of water and have some nice peppermint, fennel and liquorice tea to give me a bit of flavour. Does anyone use soluble fibre to fill them up? I thought that might be a good idea this afternoon.
I'm into my sixth week and, like many, keep all my calories to use in the evening of a fast day. I find that I have to keep busy so a 'reasonably quiet afternoon' would be the worst thing for me because I would prowl looking for food at the slightest hunger pang! I find that if I have something to do at the computer or a specific bit of housework (I keep a list of tasks to do in an emergency 'munchies' moment!) then that works better for me. I was concerned at the start that I would feel 'wobbly' or not be able to ignore the hunger pangs but in fact I haven't found them a problem at all.

We all have to find our own coping strategies. I drink plenty of water flavoured with a dash of lemon juice or black tea, which is how I always take it, and find that if I can ignore the hunger for twenty minutes it will go away!

You have had a good weight loss in just five weeks, better than the average expected loss of about a pound a week, so I suppose it would be expected to slow down slightly. Well done for making such a good start and good luck with the rest of your day!
Thanks for the words of wisdom Stowgateresident. You and I have very similar statistics!
I'm fasting today too. My second fast of the week is a changeable day. Thursday isn't the favourite day because the weekend starts here, but was out yesterday to the pictures and went for a meal after. Reckon it will be fine, but was really hungry- tummy rumbling hungry when I wakened up!
Coffee to start and then lots of water. What's this soluble fibre stuff Pilchards?
I switch between having busy days and easy days as it doesn't really make that much difference to me now (19th or 20th fast this year). I could do housework but I have a new, exciting book which is screaming at me to start. Will have to go out for some messages, but the temperature has romped up suddenly, making me loathe to leave the cool house.
I'll play it by ear!
Have a good fast Pilchards and Stowgate and anyone else joining today :)
I'm fasting today too. Got my evening meal planned and until then it will be lots of water and herbal tea. Think today will be ok. Good luck everyone.
Good Morning Thursday Fasters,
My 10th Fast and really feeling the benefits, in both health and weight terms, I feel really alert and have dropped a jeans size.
I have a Hair cut and colour booked for late morning so I can drink their coffee for a couple of hours, then home for my Veggie soup at about 2pm and a Waitrose Love Life main with lots of veg for dinner. I made a big pot of Bolognaise sauce sauce yesterday, so that's the family's dinner taken care of.

Is anyone else really enjoying the feeling of Spring this week, I know it has really perked me up.

Good Luck everyone
The soluble fibre I have is called Benefibre and I bought it in the supermarket. It is 8 calories per serve, dissolves completely on a drink and is completely taste free. I am really hungry at the moment so am going to have a serve in a cup of peppermint tea to keep me going til dinner on about an hour and a half.
I'm sure that I'm getting happier and happier to greet a fast day when they come around as I go on in this w.o.e. I've got an all day drama workshop with 33 special needs teens today, and once I would have used that as an excuse to eat lots of rubbish to 'keep my strength up'. Haha - what TOSH!! Now I'm grateful that I won't need to spend time messing about with lunch (apart from my hot bovril with celery sticks - my new fave soup dip!)

PLUS - a fab start to the day! My absolutely most favourite online dress shop announced a clearance sale (70% off everything) overnight, so I used my usual breakfast time to order 3 dresses. 3 dresses plus p&p for less than they usually charge for one dress. MUCH nicer than breakfast! :D

Oh - if anyone want to look, the make is Trollied Dolly and the discount code is bestdiscountever70 (I don't mind sharing now I've ordered the ones I want - tee hee). Shame I still need to order large - even though I'm only a 12 (with broad shoulders) though. I'll need to cut the size tag out lol.
After such a positive post by Lucky7 mine is going to sound miserable! Today should have been my 7th fast but I weighed this morning and was very fed up to see I weigh exactly the same as when I first started! I lost a few llbs but have put them back on again!I decided not to bother and have just eaten a bowl of porridge! I think I may just fast once a week as I don't have much to lose (maybe this is the problem) I will be quite happy to just maintain and not put any on. Good luck to everyone else fasting today!
Not really looking forward to my fast today; dull and wet out so should be a biscuit sort of day. I will resist! Off for my morning porridge now. Wish me luck!

Aww - sorry to hear that Ambergold. I def don't think it's worth trying to fast when you're starting the day feeling so disheartened. You have to be 'in the zone' don't you. Have you noticed a change in the way your clothes fit, or in how you feel generally. And remember, time of the month can make quite a difference for us ladies as well due to water retention. I must admit that I only usually weigh on a Friday (I fast Tue and Thur so reckon that's likely to be my lightest day). Sometimes I might step on the scales on a Wednesday, but never at the start of a fast day. I always get a feeling of doom about standing on scales (almost as bad as opening brown envelopes with windows!). Take care and have a good day xx
Good morning all :) Ambergold > a bowl of porridge is fine if you want to just keep to lean meat/fish later, if not try not to stress it is going to be difficult to get rid of the last few lbs. I only get weighed once a month, kind of gives the body time to get over itself :)

Pilchards > I thought about getting fibre after experimenting with eating breakfast or not as I thought I really needed it, but my body seems to be settling itself as I do now eat more fruit and veg.

Today is my 2nd fast of the week I'm at work now but finish early to will play my computer game :)

Good luck all and please don't worry, the whole ethos of this programme is experimentation, what feels good for one may not feel good for all of us.
I'm fasting today as well. No problem with that though I always find fasting on a Monday easier. I'll weigh myself tomorrow on my brand new Omron Body Compostion Scales - so that will be interesting. Just a little apprehensive about weighing myself in case they are different to my old ones in a bad way.
It is my fast day too. Had my bowl of porridge which I love then nothing else to eat until my soup and dry toast this evening. I have settled into his pattern that works for me. Hunger pangs do not bother me as I know they will pass. If they are bad I have a mug of coffee. Having been obsessed with the scales I now steer clear. As long as my size 10 jeans fit I am happy. This is about health more than weight. This works for me because I know I can eat what I want tomorrow. Tomorrow evening an English pub not too far away is doing a curry night which I will enjoy!
Hiya everyone!
I'm on my second fast of the week, having started at 3pm yesterday pretty accidentally due to a massive lunch. Since I started 3/4 weeks ago, have had serious probs with the 2nd fast, food fixation and stomach pains, while the first of the week has breezed by. Now reckon its because on a Wednesday morning I have a PT session and I've not eaten enough to recover then do a fast the next day. Yesterday i had proper recovery brekkie of basmati rice, chicken, eggs, peppers and onions all fried in olive oil totally 600 calories (tastes lush!) and it seems to have done the trick! I then had a baguette and cake for lunch and not been hungry since, so started the fast early- touch wood have broken the Thursday fast beasty!
Good luck to all the fasters today, you can do it!
