This is fast No. 3 for me. GOing Ok so far. I skipped breakfast and lunch (so far). I am trying to hold out as long as possible, hopefully until teatime tonight so I can eat a reasonable meal with my son who can eat for 6! I still feel determined so I think I'll be bale to hang on with black coffee and herbal teas. I'm surprised that a lot of people seem worried about having indulged a bit on eating days, I thought this was the point? On the days I haven't fasted I have tried to stick to a normal day - around 2000 calories with some wine and crisps if they were around and I still lost weight. Good luck to all fasters getting to the end of today - especially to those who are struggling - tomorrow you can have what you want!!

Thanks for your very informative response to a question (earlier today 10:40) Moogie
I'm just trying to adjust my head around how, weighing less means your TDEE goes down and therefore to expect to be eating a bit less on the Fast Days (& maybe Feast days). I wouldn't have thought that one through myself.

All the best to everyone with your Fasts

Happy fasting everyone!

I'm hoping to get through the day on herbal teas and then have some dinner in the evening. So far, so good!

I'm fasting today - I've lost count of how many fasts I've done now, which has to be a good thing! Had fruit salad and a chocolate rice cake for breakfast, and half a pack of M&S King Prawn Bhuna with a mini Peshwari naan for lunch. That leaves me 150 calories for supper - decisions, decisions!

Im also fasting today, and very surprised at how good my will power is : ive just been food shopping to get stuff for the hairy dieters lasagne to have tonight, and resisted all temptations, even with the smell of freshly baked hot cross buns wafting around!!! :victory:

Good luck for everyone today!

Everyone is so organised with their fast food! I totally changed my plan today and went to the nearby "station thermale" for a lovely hot soak and water jet pummelling. So nice to have the sun on the body for awhile. Just missed the bus so had to trawl round the town over lunchtime....soooooooooo difficult, but managed to stay on plan and stopped in a supermarket cafe for a coffee. Also bought a couple of chicken breasts to have with Puy lentils tonight which should come in quite low on calories, I hope.
Is the Hairy Dieters book good and are the ingredients straightforward?

I love the hairy dieters book, and the recipes are totally simple. Im more in to baking than dinner type cooking so find these recipes spot on for me, plus most come in between 300-500 cals. :)
I think if I didnt use the recipes I would just end up having chicken breast/salaed which I think I would get bored of!

Just for fun, I'm planning a 3 course meal tonight for under 200 calories!

Starter will be a Finn crisp smeared with WW creme fraiche and 3 blobs of caviar, possibly accompanied by some blanched samphire. Main course is ratatoulle with anchovies and black olives on some slim pasta, and dessert is cantaloupe melon sprinkled with ground ginger. Washed down with a diet shandy!

Somehow I managed to defrost a tub of gravy instead of carrot and lentil soup for lunch!!!

Label your containers!!!

Hello today was my first fast day.(Australia time) Has gone quite well so far, the hunger pains have been in waves and have settled for now. Looking forward to getting into a regular rhythm of Tuesday and Thursday fasting and discovering recipes to stretch my 500 calories. Have a great day.

Hi. On my second day fast. Supper last night finished at 8PM. Drink my organic coffee and a little skim milk, 2 cups today, herbal tea and water . I feel fine so far at 10AM. Will fast until 8PM Just trying this out. Didn't realize how much weight I had put on through the years. Always pretended it was not so bad.

Hi - new to the site.

I've been doing the 5:2 for a couple of weeks and starting to get my head around it. BUT can't seem to survive without at least one morning cup of tea and a couple of coffees - all with a small amount of skimmed milk. Counting this towards my 500 cals. Presuming this won't muck up my chances of success!

As long as you count the cals, it shouldn't matter :)

I had a day like that a few weeks ago, it's awful. Hope you can find some way to distract yourself, apart from looking forward to breakfast!
Can you think of anything you've done differently from previous fasts?
Having breakfast always makes the day harder for me, and not knowing what I'm eating and when.
An early night to bring the day to an end sooner is always a good last resort.
Good luck x
