Yep I'm fasting today too and I've been looking forward to it. It kind of resets things after the weekend. The best feeling of all is losing that bloated tummy feeling after a weekend of eating not-so-tummy-friendly foods. This will be my 5th fast and I still can't shake the feeling of guilt from eating a little too much over the weekend, nor the feeling that I'm sabotaging all my hard work when I eat "normally". I guess it just takes time and a bit of faith that this WOE works.
There's no way I could survive without food until dinner so Fast days are always berries & yogurt for breakfast, miso soup for lunch & loads of leafy greens and a little protein for dinner... although Pilchard's dinner sounds yummy. 2kg loss since I started 2 weeks ago - so far so good.
Happy Fast Day.
Hi all, fast number 4 today.found 3 very easy and yet I was dreading today.interested to hear how others do it.i like to start day with black coffee and go as long as possible, then have fruit ,late lunch salad and cottage chees....great low cal food ,cottage cheese.save most of my calories for the evening.i have fish but I hate fish so would love some other low cal filling dinner ideas.found on fast 1 and 2 when I had fish I was so hungry I couldn't sleep
Good luck to us all for a happy energised day:)
Hi Sarahg, if you dont like fish then dont eat it. Im not a liker of fish either. Try lots of veggies (great value for the calories) chicken, eggs, kidney beans, baked beans, lean beef. Theres plenty of choice.
Much better to fast on a busy day at work while you are distracted from the hunger! I have also fasted on a slow day at work and it was much more challenging. My gym days coincide with my fasting days too, and surprisingly, I don't feel faint at all when working out.

I tried splitting between lunch and dinner last week, but found that I didn't get that 'ketosis' taste in my mouth, so thought maybe it wasn't as effective. Back to breakfast (porridge) and dinner (chicken stir fry) today, which equals more tummy rumbles during the day for me, but I have a feeling it works better at burning fat.

Good luck today everyone!
Hi Sarahg, I have trouble sleeping after a fast too. I'm drinking lots more water today to see if that will help. I usually have a small serve of chicken or steak with loads of veggies (mostly dark green leafy) and don't feel hungry afterwards, maybe because it takes longer to digest than fish...? I don't really look forward to the fast, but I do look forward to how I feel the day after a fast!
Hi Guys! Monday is my fast day too... I actually look forward to it after a weekend of naughtiness. This must be my 19th fast (as I started the 1st week of March)... I only eat dinner. Just a small serve of whatever the rest of the family is having will generally be under 500 calories. Then I generally don't eat til 10 or 11 the next morning anyway. Not lost a heap of weight ( 2-3 kg) but am feeling much better for it.... and I don't count calories on my feast days, and especially over the weekends I am sure I go over my output calorie wise.
Also fasting today - and really looking forward to the 'clean' reset feeling after the weekend that was.
Only managed to do one day last week (too much carousing and having fun!) and one day the week before (blaming Anzac Day for that).
I'm really going to try hard to do my two days this week.
I'm here too.*waves* It's a lovely sunny day and I'm planning on doing some gardening. Youngest daughter who loves to cook is in charge of dinner so I don't need to worry about it, lucky me!

Sarahg, the Hairy Dieters cookbook is a good investment, all the recipes are under 500 calories and there are hardly any with fish.
Thanks will check out cook book.just been chatting to my daughter who is a good cook and healthy eater ,suggested lentil curry .like the idea of lots of veg.not easy talking food this early in the day as I plan not to eat for quite a few more hours.tummy rumbling!
So here I am in Australia and a collegue at work showed me the show on SBS- omg I love this concept and I am willing to try anything to get healthy. This is my first fast day today- going to try mon and thurs. I am a nurse and usually work 12 hr night shift- this some times helps with fasting as I dont usually eat much through the night and dont eat before bed in the morning. As I have yet a lot to learn I have started the day with a very low cal diet shake to I get some nutrition. It was 237 CALORIES yippee I have 240 to have for dinner- hmm I think a salad with 20g baked salmon- left overs form dinner last night. I am also becoming a gym junkie with my family as a have a crook back and was on compo for months- back at work now ready and fit for anything. :like:
Helloooooooooooo to all the usual Monday suspects as well as newbies. Fast 17 today and was starting to feel hungry but decided to go for a 6km walk/run instead. Now I am good until dinner!! Usually I have a soup in the morning but tonight I will be having an Asian salmon salad and a soup! If I can fit it all in!!!

Really on a high today. New week, new goals and it's good to be alive.

Good luck everyone today! Get out and go for a walk if you haven't been today! It clears your mind, allows you to be with your thoughts and you burn some calories as a side benefit.

Gearing up for an 11km fun run in July. That's the goal. It is definitely not the old me who could never have even considered such a thing!

Thank you 5:2!!
I'm in too.
For some reason I feel tired this morning but managed to do my regular Monday swim and will have just drinks till 6pm -ish.
A plate of carrot, pumpkin, beans and beetroot has become my norm, followed by fruit and sometimes a piece of wholemeal bread. Can't do without my carbs,I make sure I have protein for dinner the night before.
Happy that I lost a kilo this week after stalling for a week or so when I had lots of functions on.
Happy fasting everyone, the support on here is Fabulous!
Welcome to the forums, McSnowball!!
Hi All,
This is my 3rd fast - really over-indulged this weekend too, so glad to be doing it on a monday.
I don't eat at all until around 5:30 with a bowl of soup, and another later if I am still hungry so I don't go to bed hungry.
It certainly is easier the more you do it.
Good luck to all monday fasters.
Yep, me too.
Have had 2 previous false starts this past week; tried fasting but the kids came round with plates of food for an early Mother's Day afternoon tea yesterday. (I'm going to be in Barcelona on Mother's Day) so....
Green tea only so far, it's 1.00pm here - feeling peckish.
If it continues might have a Miso soup, that usually helps.
Good luck everyone.
