Wow - 1lb away - hope you have a great fast today and see the magic number tomorrow.

I'm fasting but not LF today as I have to go out for lunch at work, and havent been able to fit in an alternative day. Will have a simple lunch and nothing else all day.

Good luck everyone today.
I am in today 2nd fast of the week.
I just about lost my weekend away added pounds with Mondays fast. Hopefully with today I will lose a little.

Unleila I reached my target last week. I weigh daily and have found my weight as been more volatile as I got near my target weight. Have you noticed that.
I am not going into maintenance at the moment, will stay here for a few months to lose a few more pounds which will give me some leeway to experiment and find a maintenance plan that works for me.
Anyway good luck today; you are bound to meet that target
Good luck everyone who is fasting today.
I am off to work now
Thanks Jacksati. Good luck today. I think my weight loss has followed a pattern since starting 5:2. I lose a pound or two then it kind of hovers around there for a week or two after. It never goes up to what it was but seems to steadily go downwards with a push like when I started LF or 16:8.

I think as I near, its the same, I'm hoping for a couple of weeks hovering around the 8:7 mark and then staying at that weight with just staying on 16:8. We will see though because As I said, Ramadan is nearing and that might change things a lot.

I still wish I could lose more on my thighs as they are disproportionately big compared to everything else, but I don't want to lose anymore as I feel I will start to look too thin everywhere else. I think I will try and target them with exercise only from now :)
Lunch date cancelled, so I'm LF now. Relieved really, as I find it easier than 500cal.

About to refill my water carafe - everyone else staying hydrated?
I'm in again today and I'm cold again! Just had a white tea with elderflower for lunch.

The Scottish school holidays start tomorrow and I'm off work from Saturday for the next two weeks. Just some days out planned which usually start by having lunch out with the kids and then off to a beach near by. I've been trying to mentally prepare myself for the next two weeks. As I feel quite worn out I will most likely have some long lies in so will take the opportunity to skip breakfasts. I still intend doing 2 liquid fasts each week. We'll see how it goes.
Excellent to hear you're so near your target Umleila, I managed my fast fine Wednesday and not sure what I'll do tomorrow, half fast/full fast?? Will see how I feel, not intentionally doing 4:3, but fasting Wednesday rather than Thursday makes more sense with my schedule and if I don't throw in something else it's a long time until Monday weigh in! Am also finding the results of 4:3 much better (about 1.5lbs a week). What will Ramadan involve? Early breakfast/late dinner? Not sure how it works, do you have to eat breakfast or can you skip it and go all day? (Just curious and feel like I should know more than I seem to!)
Wildmissus I am a teacher too, waiting til end of July for me, but then six weeks off! I cannot wait!
Hi Mariposa. I'm hanging in there today. 4:3 also worked for me a couple of times but was not very sustainable in the end for me. It's great that it's helping the weight loss though :)

Ramadan will be thirty days of fasting (no food or liquid) from sunrise to sunset everyday. Traditionally people get up to have a big breakfast before starting and then basically break their fast with big feasts of lots of yummy foods. Its not supposed to be a time of excess but invariably you meet up with friends and family lots and it does involve a lot of eating. Lots of it is fried and many people tend to put on weight over that month.

It's hard in the UK because sunset is so late. I'm hoping to have a light breakfast and then eat in a very small window when I break the fast and not binge or eat excessively. Initially when I wasn't close to my goal, I thought I might break the fast with a couple of days of 500 cal meals but I think I won't do that now.

Hope I've not derailed this thread too much :)
Not derailed at all. Fascinating to think of the interaction between a religious and a health fast, and the different structure of both. Good luck :)
That's interesting to read, I'm sure the length of it must be a challenge and didn't realise you couldn't drink either, that must be really difficult. I've known a few kids I've worked with celebrate Ramadan, but they've been too young to do the actual fasting, what age do you start taking part? I guess if you skipped the breakfast you could do an 8hr feeding window thingy?? Then you wouldn't have to worry about overindulging at the get togethers. It'll be interesting to hear how you get on and what strategy you end up using. I don't think 4:3 liquid fasting is sustainable either, but I'm taking advantage of my weight losing mood at the moment to make headway into my weight loss, I feel so near and yet so far from being in the overweight bmi zone and I'm keen to get there, then I'm sure I'll relax things up a bit as my target won't feel so far away. Looked at my bottom in the mirror today (that's something I avoid generally), but it looks so different, I'm enjoying seeing my body change and clothes look so much better, although the lighter feeling I have is the best bit of it all, I have so much more energy and drive than before.
I love 5:2!
I am starting my second 36 hour fast tomorrow and hoping this will shift my plateau. Oddly enough, I feel determined to head into my fifth week next week. I just like feeling healthier.
Good luck in getting off your plateau kathyinlondon. I'm sure the LF will have the desired effect.

Mariposa It's weird isn't it to see your changing body? I sometimes have to do a double take in the mirror :) I think children start fasting at the age of thirteen. Your suggestion to miss the breakfast part and just eat later is a good one although I'm not sure it's ok Islamically so will need to check it out. I could have something very very small instead. It will still work out to be around 15 hours not eating. I might start a ramadan thread and keep you posted there :)

The best news is I reached my goal this morning! With tracking my weight on an app, I know that I have to hit my new weight about 5 times for it to really stabilize and become my actual weight. I'm confident that wont take too long.

Good luck to everyone fasting today x
Umleila congratulations on the scales this morning! Definitely start a thread, I will read it as interested to hear how you manage it and I'm sure it will be of interest to many. I'm not hungry this morning so starting my fast, scales are behaving themselves this week so I'm motivated to maybe do a liquid fast again today. Will see how it goes though, it's my daughters 5th birthday on Sunday so will be busy and lots of food around the place! Good luck any fasters today :0)
Umleila - Congrats on reaching your goal - fantastic start to the weekend.

I've just broken my fast with a yummy ommlette - feeling really well this morning after being a bit ropey when I went to bed. Love my post-fast sleep.

Good luck to everyone fasting today
