Hi @Maxfactor4854, and welcome

My best tip is to have a firm plan for what you are going to consume today. Do you mean to jump straight into a liquid fast? For most people it's easier to ease into fasting with 500 kcal worth of good, solid food.

Make sure you have plenty of tasty things to drink today, so that you do not get dehydrated, and so that you have something to fill your stomach with.

Good zero kcal drinks are coffee, tea and fizzy water/sugar free soda pop, because they feel more substantial and satisfying than plain water.

Good low kcal drinks are miso soup, bouillon cubes, low kcal hot chocolate and green smoothies made from salad vegetables.

Good nutritious drinks are soup, stock, milk and smoothies that aren't too sugary (because sugar will make you feel hungry).

Also protein shakes and meal replacement drinks, though personally I would rather eat real food if I'm going to have that many kcal anyway.

Once you have a firm plan of what and when to drink, you will find it much easier to put it out of your mind and focus on something else.
I am just about to have some porridge for breakfast which will end my 2nd fast of the week. I am now back on track and have lost a little
No big plans for this weekend, a walk, a meal out maybe and some work around the house.

Welcome to this fast Max you sound as if you are doing the right thing in keeping busy; try not to think of food; if you can go out for a walk or have a chat with someone; it may distract you.
Remember its only for a day and if you need to eat something you wil still do the normal 5:2 fast provided you have less than 500 cals.
Good luck for today and anyone else who is fasting :clover:
I hope to be back on Monday
Scratch the fast day today, ended up just skipping breakfast! Not too bothered though as done two fasts this week and it's too hectic with party planning and sleepover with my daughters friend tonight! Will see what next week brings! :0)
Well, it's an enforced 36hr LF for me, today, after I caught my granddaughter's tummy bug!

After several bouts of DaV during the night and this afternoon, I've been lying here absolutely wacked, all day. The good news is that I could actually taste this last cup of coffee!

I shan't have anything to eat now until tomorrow morning - if then. Even though NHS Direct says:

"Eat normally – do not starve yourself. If you are hungry, eat regular meals. Foods high in carbohydrates, like bread, potatoes, pasta and rice are good, and soup will also help replace fluids. Avoid anything greasy or spicy for the first few days."

What do they know?

It's a bit ironic, since I broke my golden rule of No Evening Snacking last night - the chocolate cake and apple pie, not to mention the leftover vegetable pie were just too much for me. So I'd intended a mini-fast today, anyway.

I've been trying to figure out when I started this fast - obviously, last night's supper didn't count, so perhaps I should count the time from around 7pm.

Cheers, B&W
Hope you get well soon b&w :)
Hi Umiella, quite recovered thanks. I broke my fast at midday, so I went about 40 hours I guess.

Couldn't sleep last night, so I was up at 3.30 until 7.00. And, for the first time since I've been IFing, I felt consistently hungry for several hours. But, given the knowledge I've gained over the past year, I just ignored the feeling.

After this I'm going to insist to my wife that I do a regular 36hr liquid fast - perhaps once a fortnight. To begin with!
