I am fasting today, its my 5th fast day but my first ever Thursday fast - I usually do Wednesday but my hubbie wanted to change things up.

So far so good, not eaten anything yet and feeling ok, no hunger pangs yet! I have noticed since I started fasting that my veg intake have more than doubled so that can only be a good thing!
Hi fellow fasters I'm in for my usual Thursday fast.. Black tea until my ready meal tonight :( oh well, doing the late shift today and it's quick and convenient. Plus it means I spend less time in the works kitchen which is not a pleasant place to be.
Feeling good today and hoping my plateau will end soon.

Happy fasting ladies and gents x
And me. Day off work today, and will be having hair done  good distraction for the early afternoon, and then probably an m and s below 500k meal tonight.

Good luck AnnieD  hope you last out, maybe you'll get a compliment from the MiL!
I'm in for my usual Thursday fast - all good so far. Was hungry as soon as I woke up, likely stomach just reacting to being empty after having a big meal out last night, but a black coffee soon saw to that and haven't had any problems since.

I had an amazingly healthy low carb feta, almond and olive salad yesterday and it sounds insane to think that to SW devotees that would be off limits as its full of 'sins' (and don't get me started on describing food as 'sinful' grr!).

Completely agree with you - have been doing SW for over a year and have done well on it (well for the first 8 months, bounced around within the same stone for the last 6) but some of it seems crazy to me. For example, you can have a packet of pasta and sauce as a snack for 'free', but an avocado or a couple of pieces of crusty bread would be prohibitively high in syns. That's a big part of what made me change, being able to eat healthy, normal foods without having to count them or feel guilty. 5:2 is certainly delivering on that score! :victory:

Liquid only for me today so challenge will be distracting myself around tea time - a bit of exercise then pampering I think.

Good luck fellow fasters!
Hi all - I'm in too. I'm terrible at fast day eating - I've gotten to the point where I will seriously make myself 2 slices of toast and peanut butter (at around 400-450 calories) and that's it, just to get something into me quickly because I am such a grouch when I get in from work at around 6:30-7pm and haven't eaten a crumb before that. My husband is getting cross with me because he would prefer I ate with the kids and him, but I have no idea how many calories are in whatever he prepares for them and I can control my intake with toast and peanut butter. (He also tries to push wine on me on my fast days.) But maybe I should just lighten up (figuratively - and maybe not put "literally" at risk? :-) ), eat a small meal with them (still say no to the wine) and not get overly worried about the number of calories.

Today is the 4th of July in the US, as someone has already pointed out. By rights (as a native-born Yank) I should be sitting in a lawn chair in the sun at a barbecue scoffing up burgers and chicken and corn on the cob and potato salad and watermelon and chilled (cheap - of course!) white wine and a sheet cake made up like a flag with strawberries for stripes and blueberries for stars and watching fireworks. Instead I'm sitting in an airless office in the City of London on a drab day fasting. Woe is me. ;-)

Happy 4th to all our US friends!
Mummybunny why dont you have a belated 4th July celebration with your hubbie and kids this weekend? It sounds like too much fun to miss out on completely!
That is the plan daisykitten, of sorts. My very English FIL is coming to for lunch on Sunday and while we're planning to BBQ let's just say burgers aren't his thing. Neither is watermelon (which I'm not sure you can even get here?). My half-English kids aren't really into burgers themselves (can they be mine??). And my husband insists that cake is not dessert. But really any kind of BBQ will help me get into the spirit.

Maybe I'll just put up my really big American flag and let everyone "feast" on that, as a reminder of what my husband likes to refer to as "Traitors' Day" ;-)
Me too, sticking to fluids until this evening. I fancy a hummus and carrot wrap for dinner. Will see how I feel. I am also riding this evening so that will keep me busy.
I'm in again today. This is my 7th week and 13th fast. Had a week of at end of May when I was on holiday. Didn't complete Monday's fast so have been careful what I ate over the last 2 days. Hopefully today will be fine.

Overall I have to say that I have been enjoying this WOE and am seeing results so here's to "slow and steady wins the race"

Good luck everyone

Alf
Today has been my hardest fast yet, I think due to a few days of massive over eating ( on hols), but it's nearly over & hasn't killed me!! Hang in there all!!
Going to take a deep breath and let my husband cook dinner for me today. He's making pasta and meatballs in a tomatoey vegetable sauce (he's great at using up old veg at the bottom of the crisper drawer). I'll do my best to count the calories but am not going to get hung up about it - if I eat a portion the same size as what he gives my 6 year-old daughter, I should be ok - I don't think even she (she's a pretty good eater when she wants to be) could consume 400+ calories in one sitting!
I'm in although I REALLY don't want to if I'm honest. Seem to really struggle with the 2nd fast think I need to make sure I have 2 days in between. Have to make sure that I don't break though as I will feel gutted if I have to try to fast again tomorrow

How can cake not be dessert?! and watermelon, as in the green and red fruit? Yes we have that here!!

Well you're more than welcome to BBQ and cake at mine, I am not fussy at all!
I'm fasting today, started 5:2 on Monday and this is my 3rd fast, I prefer fast days to feed days - much easier
Thank you daisykitten - maybe I will trek to yours for a proper 4th of July BBQ ;-)

When my husband and I were dating I went to a lot of trouble to make him a Victoria Sponge for dessert, and was really excited about it. He appreciated it but he and his friends still have a giggle about it - cake is for tea, darling, not pudding! (What "pudding" is to Americans is a whole other post.)

I've seen watermelon cut up in salad bars over here but I can't say I've seen many whole watermelons - maybe I just shop in the wrong stores. I LOVE watermelon - I grew up on it!
