Fasting today Thursday 4th July
03 Jul 2013, 20:22
Who else is fasting today? This is the start of my 11th week, my 21st fast. Can't believe I have kept this going for so long or that I am finding it so easy.
I'm with you for my usual Thursday fast. Been doing this since February and while I still don't exactly enjoy fast days I don't hate them either.
I'm in as usual. Pouring with rain. I started in April, so that's 3 months. No breakfast again today. Fish curry for dinner. but that's a long way off. Go well everyone.
I know what you mean. I feel a bit hungry on some fast days, but it is usually not too much of a problem. But there's also a feeling of strangeness and disconnection - not sure how to describe it.
I'm in again today after failed attempt to fast yesterday, well I failed because I got carried away chatting to a friend and went for coffee and forgot until after that I switched fast days  so ended up just doing 16:8 yesterday and having normal fast day today.
Looking forward to mushroom lasagne for tea made last night ready for today with salad.
Hope everyone has a great fast day
I'm in! It's still Wed night here, but I am already looking forward to it, even though I'm food shopping tomorrow. Have a great day everyone!
I will be in when it gets to Thursday here. Feels odd this week as I had to do Tuesday instead of Monday; 2 meals out on Monday! Went to the drs for a health check today and they were very pleased with me, their calculations made my bmi even lower than I thought but their measurements were very casual so not that accurate I feel. Good cholesterol results, blood pressure etc :)
:like: loulou it great to get that positive reinforcement from drs that we must be doing something right
how can you eat mushroom lasangna on a fast day?
My fast started at 7.30pm tonight, though I have resorted to ibuprofen after a long day with two grandsons, swallowed with some whole milk.
Never mind. To bed, to sleep, to knit up the ravelled sleeve of care ...
Or something ...
Hi all, trying a fast today. Would be my 5th I think. But it's been a few weeks, been struggling big time. I don't know if this is common, but I get caught it junk food cycles where all I want is junk food and keep overeating and have zero willpower. Last night I had enough of feeling sick and guilty so I've woken up with a fresh outlook and ready to tackle a fast today. I've been avoiding this forum too. I've refused to weigh myself after my week or so of being a ravenous beast, maybe I should get rid of the scales all together.

So back on the fasting wagon, it's so much easier when I wake up and I'm not hungry, unlike yesterday when I was starving. Time to be a bit more strict on myself too.
Hi, also fasting today. My 10th week and so far have lost 4.4kgs and bmi down to just under 27. A third of the way there! Also feel that my whole approach to food has changed, I THINK now before putting something into my mouth.....whether it be feast or repair day.
I enjoy this forum greatly, encouraging and entertaining! Thank you all :geek:
Fasting today and what were we thinking as here in the USA it is a holiday ! Oh, no but actually we don't seem to care to much as we were not going anywhere as we are getting a new roof on our house ! Scrape, scrape, tonk, tonk, scrape, scrape....... :curse: I think we may need to find a quiet place to go..........soon......... :frown: Happy Fasting Everybody
I'm in too! This is my 17th week and genuinely feels like a way of life for me now. I like the 'clean' feel of fast days and how they help balance out the week. Had the most decadent lunch at a Lindt chocolate café yesterday and enjoyed every mouthful of it - that's what I love about 5:2, how you can enjoy life without feeling guilty!

I guess using mushrooms instead of meat reduces the calories but I sometimes have 'normal' lasagne for dinner on a fast day; I only have the one meal and have found that I can usually eat whatever the rest of the family is eating. I have no idea really how many calories my serve of lasagne has but it doesn't seem to have adversely affected my weight loss. For me 5:2 has always been about eating real food, even on fast days, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to stick to it.

Wishing everyone an effortless and successful fast day; remember you only have to wait until tomorrow to have whatever it is you might be craving! :clover:
Just started, and this is my 3rd fast day. Surprised how much I dont need food.
