I'm on what is probably my 5th or 6th week. Found today the hardest day... Probably due to being at home with my 5 year old (who is on school holidays) ~ All she wanted to do was eat!
I'm not hungry but I want food. That's the habit talking, not the hunger!
Looking forward to getting up in the morning and having a "real" coffee!
Hope everyone has/had a great 4th July!
I am in today as well and it's an easy one as I have a bit of cold/flu/whatever and I am not hungry. Will eat something tonight however as I have some medicine to take but have no idea what it will be.

When my husband and I were dating I went to a lot of trouble to make him a Victoria Sponge for dessert, and was really excited about it. He appreciated it but he and his friends still have a giggle about it - cake is for tea, darling, not pudding! (What "pudding" is to Americans is a whole other post.)

I've seen watermelon cut up in salad bars over here but I can't say I've seen many whole watermelons - maybe I just shop in the wrong stores. I LOVE watermelon - I grew up on it!

LOL yes they do whole watermelons in most places, supermarkets or normal food markets! You work in London, you must be able to find it! (I am from London so I can help you if you like?!)

Oooooh your hubbie is old school when people used to have afternoon tea! Well those days are gone and I'll take cake any time of the day! :)
Yes, I'm in as well. Day didn't start well, I woke up from a horrible dream and had breakfast, which I normally skip on fast as well as on feast days. I just had to drink a glass of vegetable juice, and in the end the entire bottle went @ 135 kcals, not too bad I guess. 2nd fast of this week, and my 3rd (I'm doing 4:3) will probably be Sunday. Day halfway over, so that's good I suppose. Sorry for the moan, fast days are usually easier.
Best place to get your moans out I think - we're all in it together!
I'm in too. I'm finding fasting a breeze these days. Whilst I may think about food, I'm really not bothered about eating. Also finding with 16/8 on the other days that I cant stuff my face even tho I try.
I'm in, but was so hungry at lunch that I succumbed to carrot and coriander soup. Feel better now and still have 400 cals to play with at supper. I've bought cod loin. It looks great, but I don't know how to cook it without butter. I was planning on putting it in the over wrapped in foil with a couple of tablespoons of milk. Anyone got any better suggestions?

Oh and I will be taking advice on the warm glass of milk at bedtime and am planning on sleeping through if it kills me!!

Hope it's an easy day for everyone else. My husband's started doing this WOE too and he keeps texting me every time his stomach rumbles...
Well ....today is my first day, I've had a black coffee for breakfast {yuk|} and then for lunch I had 2 crispbreads with 2 slices of beetroot on each, about 100 kcals, I wasnt really hungry before I had the crispbreads but now I could quite happily loot the cupboards! Is this normal? It just seems strange that I was only really hungry after I'd eaten, perhaps it might be better on Fast days to only eat in the evening....what do you think?

For dinner I'll be having a Prawn stir fry with veggies which will be about 270 Kcals. I've also been hitting the water and Green Tea.

It's only my first day and I've had to keep myself busy but hey it's nearly 16,00 and it'll soon be time for dinner!
Lol back at you daisykitten - no way I could/would carry a whole watermelon on the train home!

Yes, husband is rather old school in many ways - I'm with you, cake any time for any meal is definitely A Good Thing. (My kids, bless 'em, agree with me.)

Hourglass, you could try wrapping the cod loin in a single paper-thin slice of Parma ham or proscuitto (or even plain ham). I don't think a single slice of thin Parma ham would have many more calories than a couple of tablespoons of milk, and I think you'll get a lot more flavour and more protein. Sounds yummy (sigh!).

Abril, yes it is VERY common to want to eat every single thing in the cupboards after having just onw morsel. It's called the "hunger switch" and if you look within the forum there is an excellent post on it and why it happens. For that reason a lot of us (not all) push ourselves till the evening and have a decent-sized meal then. We (OK, the royal "we") find it easier to manage the hunger if there is nothing in our stomachs. When I first started doing 5:2 I would aplit my calories between breakfast and dinner and found lunchtime almost unbearable. Now I eat only at night and for me it's much easier. Give it a try and if it doesn't help you go back to a light lunch and dinner. Good luck!
Having had 2 weeks off fasting due to heavy work commitments its my 2nd fast day this week and I am so relieved to be back on it! Fasting definitely seems easier when I am in the office all day; drink/pee, drink/pee!!! I do really look forward to dinner though, tonights its a lovely fishy dishy with lots of veg! My progress has been slow and its frustrating at times, so I am just sticking with it and hoping that with exercise and determination it will work in the end....happy fasting all :)
Woke up quite hungry this morning but determined to persevere, then DS started loosing it followed quickly by DD & I thought I'd buckle before 7.30am!!! It's now just 15.30 & I've had more tea then usual & approx 100cals for lunch (kids don't allow cal counting time -grrrr), but I'm counting the minutes, no seconds till supper.......
Hey Hourglass - link to Hairy Dieters' recipe - roasted cod with parma ham and peppers

http://realfood.tesco.com/recipes/hairy ... s-377.html

Haven't tried it but sounds fab!
Looking at the recipe above (photo of, in book!) has made me drool now, but must keep strong! Just took a pair of too big trousers to oxfam earlier, for £5 voucher, so have got to keep it up
So my first thought was "wow, you're all so good fasting on what is basically an eating holiday" - then I remembered how few of us yanks are here! LOL

We attempted a fast yesterday, but hubby called saying he'd been invited to a business lunch, so we're fasting Friday instead. I suppose not eating until noon is always a plus :-)
So far so good. Morning was a bit of a struggle but licorice and peppermint tea (new discovery! Love this combo) took the edge off it. Afternoon has flown by and will go out straight after work so shouldn't have trouble skipping dinner; in fact it would be difficult to fit one in, time-wise!

Might like to have a (non-alcoholic) drink before the show though. Would a diet coke or diet tonic trigger the hunger switch or are they safe?
