Re: Fasting Thursday 11th July

I'm in today, I was debating whether to leave it until tomorrow as I am picking my son up from university in a busy city centre at rush hour this evening  but I've started so I'll finish. I'm pretty sure if I stop now I'll find doing it tomorrow harder as I like to cook nice (fattening) meals and bake when my son is home.

Had a coffee first thing and off to walk the dog and then do some housework.

Good luck to all todays fasters, and condolonces to Julianna and those left behind, how tragic.

Yep! Some of us are 'feeders' and I like to cook for the family too.
I am fasting today as well and have just had some plain porridge with a coffee.
If you are feeling weak in the rush hour, I'd have a whole wheat biscuit or plain brown roll with a drink. I would think that even if you go slightly above the calories for this fast, it is better than feeling light headed if you are on the road.
Good luck and remember that you will always be back fasting next time.

Fasting today, trying anyway because I don't know if I'll be able to do it all day. I take antibiotics since saturday and my stomack don't seem to like them and is a bit upset so I need to take food like rice and other things you shouldn't eat during fast days.

For now I took an ice coffee (thanks Greenmonster for the recipe)and water. I don't plan to eat before tonight when I'll have some tuna, couscous and some steamed broccolis.

Need to change some ways of eating and to put back breakfast on feed days. I miss them so much that I only eat a giant pancake for dinner when I eat alone and I am not sure it's a good thing at that time of the day

Good luck to everyone

Any chance of the iced coffee recipe? It sounds delicious!

The ice coffee recipe greenmonster gave me monday

greenmonster wrote: Hi all

I'm fasting today. Not at work and not too many jobs to do so enjoyed a lie in until 9.30!! Makes the fasting day a lot shorter.

Manderley, I've had an iced coffee this morning, used this recipe for inspiration. Just steeped coffee in cold water overnight in the fridge and mixed it with unsweetened almond milk & ice. 200ml almond milk is only 26 cals (I use Alpro brand) and it felt quite sustaining really and very refreshing. Don't know if you can get almond milk in france but I bet it would work black, too (can't drink it black myself). Wasn't very sweet but I used a tsp powdered stevia sweetener (2 cals) and a drizzle of vanilla extract (er.. ? cals?) and it was a bit better.

Today's my second ever fast day, but I planned out my calorie intake last night so I'm quite confident! I like to split it over the day, so breakfast was cinnamon porridge then I've got a variety of crudites as snacks (carrot sticks/cucumber sticks/tomatoes etc), then I'm going to make a veggie balti with butternut squash & sweet potato for dinner! Hopefully it will be slightly easier than my last one.

Doing my 2nd ever 5:2 fast today. I had black coffee for breakfast and am planning on veggie soup with a piece of fruit for lunch and a big salad with a hamburger patty for dinner. I have a fair amount of yardwork to do so hopefully this will get me through the day. :clover:

I'm in today, my 4th fast day in total! Unfortunately I didn't have dinner last night - I was working away on the computer, wasn't hungry til about 1am, and then I though well I'll just not eat anything. Silly me, now I am starving! I own a bakery and keep hearing the cupcakes calling me...I have been on tea all day so far and I just had an iced coffee so that will keep me going. I do have lots to do today so at least I can keep my hands busy and off food. Dinner tonight - not sure yet but there are various options in the fridge. I get home at around 8.30pm so will start dinner at 8.31pm hahaha

Hi everyone, I started reading the book Tuesday and completed my first fast day yesterday.

Does anyone have suggestions for the most effective ( i.e. easiest) days to fast?

Am on holiday from work this week and going back on Monday, so am trying to plan my new approach so that I can maintain what appears to be a good start

Any advice would be most welcome

Thanks

I know it must be the heat but I'm proud that for the first time on a fast I've managed to miss lunch. Just wasn't feeling hungry. So now I'll try and go to dinner, tuna salad, with just liquid. I guess I could even treat myself to a pudding
