Every day there will be a new topic in this forum for today's fasters to chat & support each other.
Please don't make extra threads in here besides the daily fasting threads, if you've got a question please post it in the relevant forum or ask in today's 'Fasting Today' thread, thank you.
My son wants to go out to eat tonight. We usually go for a special dinner out when my husband is away on a business trip, and with my son's basketball practices, this is the only night we can do it. So I'm probably going to get a big salad. Luckily he wants to go to a friend's restaurant and she's currently on a stricter diet than I'm on, so I can expect one pretty low calorie vegan soup option on the menu and I know that if I omit the dressing, there's a really low calorie salad.
Anyway, so far one tea and one coffee. Will have home made veg soup for lunch and maybe chicken salad for tea. It's really no hardship and I've got lots of work to do, though do work from home.
Good luck all and guess what? We can eat tomorrow!
It's my sixth fast today. Seems to be going well this time. My wife and I are working through the recipes from the book and today, for me, it was kippers for breakfast, and steak and salad tonight, which I'm starting to look forward to! Going to go for a short lunchtime walk and get a diet coke.
BW.
Hope everyone is coping today - we'll get there!
Well I'm in my 5th week and its the first time I've had a fast day at home. I thought it would be really tough but water seems to be doing the trick.
I save all my calories for a small evening meal. i find this much easier because once I have eaten it triggers my appetite, and you'll be amazed how much food 500 calories is in one sitting!!
Good luck everyone, remember you're not hungry, you're just empty!

There is research that suggests diet drink make you more hungry and they trick the body in to thinking its getting sugar when it isn't. I know Dr Mosley advises against them as part of the 5/2
We're off down accross the border to stay with friends this weekend, hopefully I won't blow all my hard work . I'm looking forward to stepping on the scales next week to see how my first week went.
Happy fasting!
I'm fasting today too. Was initially really hungry this morning and thought to myself that it's going to be a very long day until I can eat this evening, but d'you know what, it's actually been really easy. Two coffees, a herbal tea and about 5 pints of water later I'm actually not in the slightest bit hungry!
I think it's helped by the fact I'm normally surrounded at work by people stuffing their faces all the time (there ALWAYS seems to be someone eating at any one point in the day!) whether it's delicious cooked breakfasts from the restaurant or cooked lunches or biscuits and cakes..... today however I'm working from home so there's just me and the dog and luckily his breakfast isn't in the slightest bit appetising!! Makes it so much easier
Hoping everyone's hanging in there! More than halfway through the day now!
- The evening before a fast day, when I remember I ought not to be eating anything after dinner, that's hard! Which shows I tend to snack habitually, and that obviously needs to stop, fast or no fast, even though it's not junk food.
- Contrary to what I expected, if I eat just one small spoonful of breakfast with my kids, I'm happy. Still get to enjoy the taste, and there's no need to have more.
I love the flexibility of this scheme. A long time ago I did some full-on water fasts, and it was SO difficult to embark on one of those. Now I've just come back from a meeting in a cafe, had a nice cappuccino but nothing else, and all is good. Feeling hungry now but not minding, almost enjoying the feeling...

Ooh thanks, I will look into this. Is that the same for sparkling water or is it the artificial sweeteners that are bad?
