Hi @Auriga Welcome back don't bring any nibbles into the tent coz I'm fasting today.
Can you somehow kidnap me and put me in shackles somewhere in this tent?
I am carbing it up like you have never seen today!! I had two fast days without the pesky things and today I have eaten a chocolate croissant, a pain aux raisin and two slices of toast with butter and marmalade!
Am I even allowed to say such swear words in the tent?!

wash your mouth our @spanner for saying the c*** word in this tent.
I think this should be our motto
Illegitimi non carbohydrati
carbohydrates are illegitimate in this tent
Or words to that effect!! (oops I did Latin at school, too )

... Just tootling about t'net, as you do, as a result of PFT's post and came across the following ...
@Latin Quotes: Goals and Achievement
aut viam inveniam aut faciam
I'll either find a way or make one
aut vincere aut mori
Either to conquer or to die
nulli secundus /nulli secunda
Second to none (male)/(female)
perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim
Be patient and tough; some day this pain will be useful to you.
per aspera ad astra!
Through difficulties to the stars!
possunt quia posse videntur
They can because they seem to be able to
(they can do it because they know/think they can do it)
qui audet adipiscitur
S/he who dares wins (or: s/he who wins dares)
sedit qui timuit ne non succederet.
He who feared he would not succeed sat still.
tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito
Yield not to misfortunes, but advance all the more boldly against them
vincit qui se vincit
S/he conquers who conquers her/himself.
Take your pick. But I'm reserving 'Per aspera ad astra' for personal use, may just ad a bit of gravitas to the old strapline

Thank you Silverdarling - qui audet adipiscitur, that's me!
Yes, that's a good one
Also 'aut viam inveniam aut faciam' though that doesn't roll off the tongue as easily but you know what I mean!

And this Latin phrase is a bit like the effects of eating too many carbs....
adde parvum parvo magnus acervus erit
Add a little to a little and there will be a great heap.

Non possum credere me totum edisse= I can't believe I ate the whole thing.
Hi Sue.Q, I see PFT has beaten me to it and already given you some fab ideas using celeriac but here's a simplified recipe from The Low-Carb Vegetarian for a curried celeriac soup which was yummy!
I used 2 tsps. of garam masala, 2tsps turmeric, pinch chili flakes (could just use curry powder), fried gently in butter (yes BUTTER!)
Add 1 chopped onion, fry 5 mins till translucent.
Add 3 gloves crushed garlic and pinch ground ginger with 4 tbs ground almonds and cook 1 min.
Add your peeled, chopped celeriac and 2 pts veg stock.
Bring to boil, simmer 20 mins or till tender.
Puree or leave chunky as desired. Season to taste.

Te audire no possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure
I can't hear you. I have a banana in my ear.
