I sometimes think about putting my local time on the thread and always forget. A wee thingy in the signature would be helpful but I have bother changing that at the best of times (computer illiterate!)

12.12pm ;)

I thought you must be about 3 - 4 hrs ahead of us - still raining there? How do people cope? Have been in Spain (no, not on the plain - Andalucia!) when they had bad weather, and they just couldn't cope, no drains in the streets, so water just ran everywhere.

Certainly is Darling, I am in WA which is 3 hours behind the east coast, at least until tomorrow when I fly back to Tas, when I will be back to an 11 hour time difference with the UK. It is usually 9 or 11 when the clocks change, although there is a period of a couple of weeks as our clocks don't change at the same time
Got that?!!!

A cyclone is headed our way in the next couple of days so I am sneaking out on the early flight tomorrow so I can escape the rain and wind. It has started getting windy already, should be a bumpy flight!

We're 8 hours ahead here in WA

morning - you must all think I'm neglecting you in this 'ere tent.
After 2 days with the littlies, I just couldn't keep my eyes open last night!
And, much as I love you lot, I have a busy week ahead and am hoping for a good sleep every night!!
As to time zones, we're at least a decade behind in Wales!!

That's weird PFT - was just going to post asking what the time zone was in the Principality

When I was at college in Aber (1983) it was like being in the early 60s - they still had a Wimpys and a coffee bar with those pyrex cups ...

Ah, North Wales was the last time I had a Wimpy burger, 80s!!! Still around?

well confused with Antipodean time now!
Rain has gone off and it is still overcast so hopefully more on the way.
When it rains here the place is bedlam. There is no drainage on roads, no rone pipes on houses (guttering) buildings do not have a requirement to be water tight  and many people do not know how to drive in the rain. Sometimes the schools get shut
If you don't have to go anywhere it's fine. The last big downpour shut the Dubai Airshow. A new building, leaked like a sieve all through the electrics. The approach roads were totally flooded with water and the sand all got swept in making a nasty gloop.
And they think they can cope with the expo! WHo are they trying to kid!
Having lived in Shetland where we get weather regularly, I find it rather amusing and somewhat wimpish!
Boats for diving get cancelled with a slight swell (1m), a bit of wind cancels things. I do get cross sometimes.
HOpe you have a safe flight tomorrow @Debs and enjoy your time off.

I'm sure they are Debs! I understand Aberystwyth has become more 'modern' since then ... But haven't been back to check! Out of the way bits of Scotland don't seem to be as behind with the times in quite the same way

Hooray! I've found you. For some reason I couldn't find the Insomniacs tent, yesterday and the day before. It must have slipped down the ratings.

@Janeg Daughter Jade says they close the swimming pools when it rains as there is so much dust washed into them from the atmosphere that the pools get filthy, till the filters clear them out. She also says the roads are awful with the lack of drainage. Though what use would drainage be, as it would just get blocked with sand. She skyped us today and looks a lot more relaxed after having her half Friday and all day Saturday off doing normal stuff with her partner. Less frantic shopping, swimming at the beach, and watching the 'Tour du Dubai' cycle race go through. She is planning on going to the ice cream festival next weekend, now that sounds fun.

Poor Aberystwyth promenade has been hammered in the storms, its washed a lot of the promenade away and lifted the paving in great swathes all along the prom. If you look on the BBC news and type in Aberystwth you will get some of the coverage. Here's one of them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25604697

I too am hoping not to be here tonight, but I might. I am having my usual fast day chills and hubby doesn't know if he will be able to sleep tonight, so I will get cold on my own. He's had his cortsone injection today and his arse is very sore. Plus its starting to work and his tendons are starting to twang now the swelling is going down and they are releasing. It will be a painful 3 days for him, but the end result of hopefully a month of vastly reduced pain will be worth the extra pain now.

If I don't make it tonight I'm hiding my packet of Ginger Nut biscuits in the corner, don't tell anyone.

Of course you can have some Ginger nuts @CandiceMarie just make sure you seal the packet afterwards as we don't want them getting soggy and stale.

I slept like a log last night, though I did have to use a hot water bottle. Hubby crawled into bed, half dressed, at about 5am. He managed to get his trousers off, but not his t'shirt or socks. He said he just couldn't wake me, which is very unusual as I am usually very responsive to his needs and will wake in a flash.
