Booking my flight for 20 March and leave again on 31st. I'm worried about coming home in case I don't want to come back.

Ah poor rawkaren, but you do have that option of you decide it isn't right for you, and you will know deep down whether that is the case! Hope the job is working out as you hoped though.
Sneaking up to 43 here at the moment and trying to stay out of the sun as much as possible!

Aw Karen hang in there! Am sure things will improve. There is always this thing that happens after taking a new job, and reality kicks in, and this must be many times squared in your case, as it's been such a big change. You are still in that in between period, so keep on going, things can only get better I hope. And if they don't for a while, you have us all on here to have a moan to, we aren't going to let on!

Hi, enjoy your Calif. Chardonnay, Karen - that's my usual tipple. This rainy weather is really depressing and I have a cold and scratchy throat too. But I know you're more depressed about OH leaving for home.

Best wishes xxxx

P.S. Just realized the Chardonnay was a couple of days ago - oh well, bet you have some more on hand!!!

I've been doing jigsaws and got a bit engrossed. How are you all tonight? Nothing much to say today, its been pretty quiet here. I should have done the shopping but I fell asleep on the sofa and slept so late we wouldn't have been able to have a relaxed shop. So we are doing it tomorrow instead.

Oops, pressed send too soon. We nearly did have world war 3 here between the lads over washing the pots. But that brothers all over. The problem with my two is they won't forget it, in 2 years time one will bring it up as proof of a point and I will have totally forgotten about the incident.

The tablets have been dispensed and I'm hustling the husbeast up the stairs in a moment. I just had to pop in and say hi!

Hi Julie and Candice. Hope you are both ok. I have had a driving lesson on the freeway today. They are crazy on the roads here, especially in the wet. No real sense of danger at all. I'm less terrified than I was but I hope I get used to it soon.

My daughter says the same of the Dubai roads. Especially the main roads which happen to be 12 lanes wide. That plus the complete lack of lane control mean that people will cut across 6 lanes to get to an exit only 200 metres away expecting everyone else to avoid them. That and they have no idea when to use their indicators or the leave them on constantly. The worst for her is that she only passed her driving test the week before she went out there so she is now probably picking up some terrible driving habits.
I did read n article written by an American living in Britain who had to take his British driving test as he had been here nearly a year. He said it was astonishingly hard, but now he's done it he is happy to be one of the people who say that British drivers are the best trained in the world. My hubby does say that certain European countries have much better lane control in the UK. None of the middle lane hogging there is in the UK. But other countries have awful drivers.

Interesting. The behind the wheel test here is only 10 mins long! Unbelievable. The Spanish don't do lane control. And they have no idea how to go around a roundabout. However it's much worse here. The hardest thing is traffic passing you on both sides. :curse:

@rawkaren your life's been so challenging lately! Even good change is stressful isn't it.
I see you're booked for a visit home later this month! ...totally understand how you feel re thinking maybe you won't want to return to the States.. Back in the Uk you will get a clearer perspective from a distance and be able to collect yr thoughts on the experience so far x x
