My little God of Snow (three year old grandson) asked me when it will snow when I picked him up from play group today. His birthday is next week so expect a foot of the stuff.
Off to play now :0)

Whilst out-and-about today I had a lovely bowl of veggie soup but also ate the strange little roll that came with it (naughty girl) and then OH bought Belgian buns so I inadvertently ate one. OH GOD how sweet and insubstantial was that! And 420 calories!!
Won't do that again in a hurry.
Also, why don't cafés make omelettes any more?

 Well I am feeling pleased with myself because I also reported into the Christmas Tent & I lost 1lb 6oz this week after three birthday meals out & wine!! But I was very dedicated in trying to balance it out with 3 fasts & 16:8ing on the other days which has worked.
Also on the plus side my sons marriage will probably be next September so I have more time to lose weight & should be much nearer to my initial goal weight of 10 stone. My outfit that I saw, liked & bought is a size 14 jacket & top & the chiffon skirt has an elasticated back to the waist & is size 16 so will shrink with me, so hopefully won't look too big. At the slow rate I am losing it will take the same amount of time to lose a similar amount of weight to that which I have lost by next year, but I am still hoping to get below 13 stone by Christmas so I have 7 lbs to lose to be 12 stone 13 & 1/2lbs.
On the down side my arm is painful & I had an x-Ray & have wear & tear degeneration in my right shoulder causing radiating pain in my arm :frown: so it is very irritating with my body letting me down & preventing me doing things. I have also been told that I have to wait 6-8 weeks for a physiotherapists appointment. :frown:
I hope all you SSS's are not also degenerating!! Regeneration would be better are you watching Dr Who tonight???

Dr Who WOOHOOOOOOOO ! Have watched it since it started, not stopping now!

That's bad luck Isis, hope your arm improves soon. Are you taking fish oils, multi vit/minerals, probiotics, vitamin D etc supplements? I take rosehip for arthritis too. Got to be something in nature that can help. X

On Wednesday, we'll be off for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend--back home on Saturday evening.

Any other stepparents here anticipating holidays with OH's ex present? She and I get along all right (and I adore my step-daughters, son-in law, and granddaughter) but she makes the weekend stressful with her neuroticism, unpredictable temper, chip on the shoulder, etc. She's not jealous of me for marrying her ex (I think--she's always had her own gentleman friend) but she sure doesn't let us have more than 5 minutes alone time with her daughters and granddaughter. I steer very small with the three offspring when she's in the room so as not to provoke her jealousy.

Luckily, we get to see these delightful people other times when she's not around.

I tend not to eat a lot when either hosting or guesting at Thanksgiving--I think anxiety quells the appetite, so I'm not too worried about gaining this week!

Not in the same situation @Marybethbut just wanted to say I hope your OH's ex's behaviour doesn't cast too much of a shadow over your holiday weekend. You seem to be taking the right approach by not antagonising her and at least you get to see your stepchildren and offspring when she's not around. :like: Just go with the flow and have a great Thanksgiving celebration.

Morning! Hope you don't mind me popping in here, but I think you might be able to help. I'm Christmas shopping next week for my mum who is in her late 60's (only 17 yrs between us). I'm a bit stuck for ideas. I plan to spend around £100 to £150 on her. If you were going to spend this on yourself, what would you buy? Or what would you like to receive from your eldest daughter this year? She is a young 'un like everyone in here!

Thanks

Depends on what she already has. I got a Kindle last Christmas. My fall back request is M&S vouchers.

I'm after the new samsung note 3 mobile phone *sighs*. Does she have a kindle fire? How about a DAB radio? (Yes I'm all for being tech'd up) amazon vouchers as backstop these days.

Why not buy her an 'experience' @rawlaren. Does she like cooking? Some sleb chefs do courses, but they might be more than you want to spend, or you might have a local cookery school where she could do something different (I want to do a course in December where I learn to make a 'bird within a bird'). I am also leading a morning course in Christmas relishes and a local chocolatier is doing an afternoon of chocolates, so look around to see what's available near you.

There are also loads of other 'red letter days' or 'pamper sessions'.

If you want to buy 'an item', something like a nice pair of boots.
