Thank you, Candice. Sometimes I can be tactful, other times not so much. It's interesting that as much as people our age have learned, there's still more to improve on.

I think I consider the Senior thread (and the mental health one, too) a place where I can let my inner "biatch" loose (all that tact gets tiring, sometimes ;)

Yesi was thinking that too MB..
as i was suggesting the Biatch Tent, part of my head was saying..but us guys in the Sassy Seniors Tent have earned the right to have a good old grouch right here right now...
we have got our elders stripes and officially can do what we like
Was jsut thinking of my gran and what she would make of biatching..she wd consider it a swear word i think as she never said anything worse than divil, wdnt even say devil..and i guess she had never heard of the four letter word DIET..
All elderly ladies back then seemed to live in big wrapround pinnies..which were One Size Fits All i think..might have to invest in one if 5:2 fails!

And yes we can improve but what i am noticing about myself and chums is,all our bad traits are getting worse..!

Oh yes, I can be a Grumpy Old Woman with the best of 'em at times! :frown: Don't get me started on today's youngsters...well some of them anyway, mustn't tar them all with the same brush!

Just back from visiting step-daughter and two grandsons, having collected another grandson from school and delivered him to his Nanna. Wish I'd had helpful grandparents living nearby when mine were young ... Hey ho.
I noticed mostly grandparents in the playground, and tomorrow, when we have two more grandsons in and out through the day, there'll be lots of grandparents at the nursery too. (There's 10 grandchildren, we're pretty busy with them!)
I actually think it helps keep me young but I wonder if they'll remember us when they're older. I remember mine well, but we didn't have the distraction of modern tech.
:0)

My grandmother lived with us all through my childhood and beyond. I surely do remember her and am lucky enough to have a little diamond and ruby (very little stones :) ) ring of hers. I love to wear it and always think of her when I do.

Those grandkids won't forget you, Azure, with or without jewelry reminders :)

I was part of a big extended family and it was lovely. Lots of cuddly ladies in big, floral aprons and jolly uncles with black faces as they were all miners. Gran was in poor health so my mother did the day to day house keeping and Gran would keep me safe playing at going on imaginary trips or reading stories. My own mother helped with my kids when they were little. Hubby worked in his family's bakery and I was expected to help run the shop. I was effectively working at home but still needed help to keep the kids safe. My kids have great memories of their Nan.

I have a little brooch that was my Gran's. It came to me via my mother. Its just a little bar brooch with a tiny ruby but its very precious. My grandfather stopped smoking for months to save the money to buy it for her as a love token when he proposed. Fancy rings were only afforded by the gentry in those days and not an 18yr old coal miner!

Don't know if I'm very sassy, but definitely a senior at 72. Glad to see so many of us working to be healthier.

Welcome GoldfinGoldy, I am new here too. Only started this week!

Re the grandparent/grandchildren discussion, I have 8 beautiful grandchildren across 3 families...two families live locally and we have seen these grands grow from newborn to almost 21 (how could our oldest be that age? I am way too young to have a grandchild that age!!). Our away ones we see perhaps twice a year. They range in age from 20 down to 9 and include two sets of twins. I hope they will all remember us with love as they become parents and grandparents themselves.

Gosh I've had the worst attack of grumpiness today. Fasting of course, but I'm not usually this foul. Perhaps the strong winds have wound me up.
Anyway, I've eaten two soft boiled eggs at 5pm and feel better for them, I'll have some veggie soup soon and a hot chocolate before bed as I really feel I need a treat.
What a day. Hope you're having a good one :0)

Hmmm... I had fish and chips for lunch.
I'll shut up, then.

I've got a busy few days ahead of me:

Works do tonight at Somerset County Cricket Club - 8 until 1.00am. I'll probably sneak away around 12.30 to avoid the taxi rush.

But not before I consume about 3 pints, possibly a glass of wine and I generally have a Jaegerbomb with a couple of young carers (the guy throwing the party runs several carehomes).

There's a live band - and I hope to be on the floor all night!

Then I'll be at work tomorrow morning as usual, and it's my weekly session at the carehome in the afternoon.

On Saturday, I've got a dozen students in a village hall all day - 10.00 'til 4.00, on a Christmas breadmaking workshop:

Day off on Sunday, but on Monday morning I've got a Thinking Minds session - it's an off-shoot of a U3A philosophy course - then in the afternoon I have a one-off Family Learning session in a local primary school.

Then I have 3 days off!

I've just returned home - after 4 pints (no wine) - and I've had a fantastic time!

It was an 8-piece band, and I danced with both female singers!

There was a period when the floor was empty, and I said to the guy who was doing the mixing from the sidelines on his iPad, that I'd love to get up and dance, but there was no-one to dance with - and that I wished I had the guts to dance on my own.

As I said that, I thought, "Sod it! I'll will dance by myself."

So I was dancing in front of the band and getting some approving smiles from them, when I said to this pretty young blonde singer, shrugging my shoulders, "There's no-one to dance with."

"I'll dance with you," she said! And she stepped out from behind the mike and we danced for the next 5 minutes or so! It was wonderful! Not only did she dance with me, but she copied my moves!

I was singled out for dancing with quite a few women - some I had worked with and some I'd never met before.

I was the only bloke on the floor for 90% of the evening - and I was the oldest guy there!

When the band had finished and were packing away, I asked the other singer for a dance to the Christmas records that were being played - just for a few bars, I said, since I could see she was busy. In the event, she danced all of Noddy Holder's 'Do they know it's Christmas!" with me. Here she is a few photo's in:

http://www.fairplayband.moonfruit.co.uk/#/photos/4514985872

The young blonde singer isn't featured, which is a shame!

I've just eaten over half of the veg curry which was supposed to be my dinner tomorrow - with a very tiny drop of wine (the last thing I need is more alcohol!) - and I'm off to bed.

Have a good one, folks!

Sounds like you had a great time @Breadandwine. Good on you for showing off your prowess on the dance floor to all the youngsters! :like:
