OH has put his back out so we are confined to barracks, though I keep escaping to do a little shopping. I don't drive so the exercise is enjoyable this sunny weekend.
Have a happy day folks :0)

Last week I posted about my anxiety concerning family Thanksgiving that involved OH's ex. She pretty much behaved herself--I was the one who let a few minor sparks fly towards the end of one day when I could no longer contain myself. Having listened politely all day for 2 days to her discourses on subjects that held no interest for me, I called her on her negative reaction to some of us who started a conversation about something she wasn't interested in.

She must have known she was in the wrong, because she didn't yell and scream and storm out of the room! (Oh what fun families can be!)

OH and one daughter had a bit of a dispute about something scientific (he's the scientist; she's the amateur who thinks she knows better) However, no harm done and I think I convinced both to avoid contentious issues in future--maintaining loving relationships is more important than scoring points about nutrition, agriculture--or politics or religion, for that matter--IMHO I keep telling myself this when BIL (not present at Thanksgiving--for which I'm thankful) tries to bait me about politics or economics.

I'm sure this is more than you want to know about my holiday, so I'll stop now! I didn't gain any weight last week, but now I'm up a little and will be fasting this week to get back to goal. Exercise class this noon and library volunteer shift this afternoon will keep me busy and my mind off food

@Marybeth it is always good to rant on here, saves upsetting those that would be upset, and anyway, it's always quite nice to get an insight into how other families get on, or not

Thanks @Ballerina --I've learned a lot from this forum in many, many ways and hope some of my experiences can help (or at least amuse) others.

I add my voice to those wanting to hear about your latest trip--that's sure to be more than amusing :)

Aren't families fun! Theres so much truth in the saying that you can choose your friends but you just get stuck with family!

@Ballerina I will add my voice to those bugging you for a Berlin Experience post. We need cheering up in all this yukky, dank weather. Consider yourself duly bugged!

Thanks ladies!

I did it to try and keep myself going and focus on there being more to life than what the scales say! My weight was going nowhere and I even gained a few pounds when I had a bit of a flare and went on a carb fest. I got my head back in gear and I've been strict 16:8 and LCHF + daily yoga. My skin is much better, I have more energy, my hair has stopped falling out and I can get my belt onto a tighter hole. I looked in the mirror this morning and realised that, however aggravating the stationary scales might be, it really is worth sticking to the plot.

Yes the chemistry still works even if the scales don't reflect your effort. I am so so stuck but still have been faithful to 5:2. Think it's is time for me to follow your lead Miffy and take a step back, but continue on if you get my drift

Well I fasted well and properly for 22 hours today.
Then ate two soft boiled eggs. Then a bowl of Amy's Kitchen soup. Then mackeral strips ('cos they needed eating up and protein can't be wasted). Then a cup of valerian tea and good honey.
Up to 936 calories now so blown the magic 500 well out of the water!!

Damn

I know what you mean Gillymary. I went 3mths and thought maybe I was back losing again but it was only about 4lbs and I stuck again. Been nowhere since 7th Sept except slightly up! I have to look at the positives, a starting weight of 15st 10, a current weight of 11st 12 (lowest was 11st 8) and a drop from a size 24/26 to a size 14. Not all the loss has been on 5:2 as its taken an absolute age! I'm just trying to focus on my general health and not stress about the scales. I do still seem to be getting thinner but whether its fat loss or toning I have no idea!

Shall we just chill out and maintain for a bit and quit worrying?

Hi Sassy Seniors just calling in to say hi. X x
was glad to read Marybeths update..was wondering how you got on MB! Well done..You sound like a very diplomatic and tactful lady!
Maybe we need a bitching tent where we can let off steam...all have a good old moan about our dysfunctional families and useless OHs etc..be as negative as we want..
Or should it be a Biatching tent..i notice lots of peeps now say biatch for bitch..where did that come from? Xx
