You remind me of one of our best family stories...
My son swallowed a nickel. Typical for a small child, but he was 8 and really should have known better. When asked how this happened, he said he was tossing it up and down, and it was "spring action".   Fortunately it finally passed through him without a problem, but there's a great xray showing a perfect circle in the middle of his esophagus.

Rest of the family has been laughing ever since...

To commemorate her birthday , actress/vocalist, JulieAndrews made a special appearance at
Manhattan 's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP.
One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary
movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:
> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >> > > > > > > > >

(Sing It!)

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

(Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores!)

Good for Julie Andrews, she's had quite a life!
Today I have seen still steam trains, flying and landing parachutists, school rowing races on the river, more grandchildren, oodles of daffodils and snowdrops and celandine and violets. Haven't achieved much in the house though ... Oh well, always tomorrow and if there isn't it won't matter!

I was going to tell you what I ate today, but, fearing the wet fish treatment, my lips are sealed.... only they weren't. Nope, not sealed at all!

So did any of AB's biscuits from heaven manage to 'drop' into your mouth? Must make a nice change from the devilish ones that 'jump' into folks mouths.....tsk,tsk,

Yes Callyanna, on the Wirral.
Hub's sis and her hub came for lunch - mainly healthy, but she'd made an apple crumble for us - and brought cream.

I don't like apple crumble.

I don't eat cream.

I ate a big portion of both.

Go figure....

Good on ya Penny
As a friend's mum always used to say,
" While you're eating that, you're eating nothing else"
Weird logic but oddly comforting
Hope yr doggie is ok and you get chance to see Crufts and more importantly" Scruffts" !

Been quiet on here for a while, all busy busy no doubt.
Yesterday I wore my new denim skirt in honour of Spring (equinox in a week), and it felt lovely. I used to wear skirts and dresses when working, trousers too, but since being a 'homemaker' it's been trousers all the way. Time to have another wardrobe sort on all those ageing skirts me thinks, pop most down to the charity shop probably.
Have a happy sunny day y'all :0)

Acquired a young Japanese quince shrub today chaenomeles cameo that will hopefully have pale pink flowers in Spring. Also refreshed the pansies and violas in a hanging basket that has remarkably stayed flowering all winter.
Twycross Zoo tomorrow to see the new baby girl elephant :0)

Yesterday we went to see the movie "The Monuments Men" (George Clooney, Hugh Bonneville, etc.) As a minor history buff I was very interested when I first heard about the book and movie and read the book as soon as I could. The movie reviews put me off, however (too slow, too boring, etc.). I'm glad we changed our minds because we liked it a lot. They romanticized a few things, but it shows a very important part of our history: saving important buildings and great works of art towards the end of WW II. Recommended!!

I think professional movie reviewers may have rarefied standards--they see so very many more movies than the rest of do that they must be bored most of the time--only something extraordinary can garner their praise. I think I'll listen more to the description of what the movie is about than to the reviewers' likes and dislikes.
