Hi everyone, I popped in here a couple of weeks ago just before going off on holiday with my cousin who loves to have a good time (read eat and drink....constantly). I wasn't sure how I would survive so I decided to try 16:8 while we were in Las Vegas and I managed it! It's when we got back that I fell off the wagon and the upshot was that I had gained 3.2 lbs for the whole 2 weeks. I got back on the wagon yesterday (the first of my 3 fasts for the week) and have lost 1.1 lbs already. I am really trying to keep myself together and focused now that my cousin has gone home. But another holiday is looming on the horizon and I'm really worried.

I did 4:3 last week. I'm doing it this week. I'll probably use 4:3 as my back up plan when my weight sticks for a week or two. I haven't enjoyed two fasts on the trot
I believe that shaking things up is the key to success with this dieting thing. If our bodies get used to a thing, they stop losing weight. I have discovered, over the years, that jot eating enough can sometimes curb my weightloss and a week or two off brings that back into line. This is confirmed by the Australian lecture which was posted on here last year. She advocated eating when you really felt you needed to and get back on it when you've had a break!.

@swan51 You're doing great especially for that 2weeks holiday, I'd say 4:3 and lowish carbs this week should repair that holiday damage well done.
@Karenm My weekend wasn't good with cravings
and couldn't fast yesterday plus im out Thurs night
so I'm doing back2back today/Wed hoping for some damage limitation.

Thanks for the encouragement @Sue.Q. I got on the scale this morning and lost another .7 lbs, so it is probably water weight as it is coming off so easily. Anyway, fingers crossed!
Hello @Sue.Q I have been away on my holiday for two weeks and haven't deserted you all yet! Thanks for asking where I was. I dread to think what I weigh after being in France for two weeks, going to do that tomorrow. I am fasting today in the hope it won't be too bad.
Hello everyone !
I accidentally fasted 3 days in a row this week Accidentally because I should have seen OH on Tuesday and always fast Mondays and Tuesdays but we had to cancel until last night so yesterday I fasted as well (I have no appetite before seeing him). It was surprisingly easy. I even didn't eat anything until late this morning. However I wouldn't recommend it on a regular basis.
The big positive point is I am done with fasting until next monday

I really missed the fasting whilst on holiday, it's become a way of life. It was good to get back on track this week. I am fasting today and then again on Sunday and hope that the 1.5k I put on will be mainly on its way out (as I have already shed 600g I think it's going fast!). I am quite relieved to find that having eaten this way for so long it seems to have a protective effect against rapid weight increase!
Confessing time @justdee @Auriga
Well I said I'd only be doing 5:2 this week because of events I'd got on, and yes all my feed days are now 16:8
so all still pretty good yes???
NO!!!!!!!
I've had a very bad week probably the worst cravings I've known in my 14 month journey, so as I've still a very long way to go I need to address this now before the rot sets in.
No way am I regaining any more weight, so socks pulling up time because I've something on eating out wise most weeks over the next 5/6 weeks, and this wasn't a problem last year but now I need to take into account my ever decreasing TDEE ------Starting NOW!!!!
Budge up I'm back in the 4:3 tent full time.

Welcome back Sue.Q there's plenty of room in here. ...... Good luck and I shall see how you're doing tomorrow.
I'm shifting down the bench @Sue.Q. After all you all made room for me when I needed shelter in here. I think that is a good plan to stay with more fast days during the week when there are social engagements on.
Hang in there...you can do it!

Hi @Sue.Q plenty of room in here as I'm 5:2ing for a bit. Well that's what I've done this week and it feels like I've had loads of time off because of 3 day in a row. I'm just going to see how it goes and relax about it all. My weight has stayed the same all week which is strange with 3 non-fastdays, there's hope for a loss tomorrow. Good luck all.
Hello @Sue.Q how are you doing today? I promise that if you can stick with 4:3 it WILL help. I know that your weight loss journey has been a long one and you need to pat yourself on the back about that. You're doing OK, just stick with it. It's a bit of a pain that as you get slimmer you need less food but eventually you'll get used to that. Here's to the new you Sue!
Yes Thanks. @Auriga I'm OK today I needed to confess and give myself a good talking too, back on track
and as Friday starts my fasting week and I've an opportunity I'm doing a fastday tomorrow then
Monday + Wednesday yes sorted!!!
Yes I've decided I need to decrease my food intake accordingly now as I'm getting nowhere fast and our summer is disappearing fast, so that's me sorted for the next week just need to add a few days walking.

Just reporting in on my 4:3 week this week (Sun, Tues & Thur). I was able to shed my holiday gain of 3.2 plus some more. I really stuck to my plan eating slightly below TDEE on feast days and a tad over 500 cals on the three fast days. I also watched my carb intake sticking as close to 20 gr on fast days and around 100 gr on feast days (yes, I counted on MFP all week). Now for the weekend
@Sue.Q hang in there. This journey is not for the faint hearted and from what I have read on this forum you are a warrior! Go girl!

Well done @swan51 on blowing away your holiday gain plus a bonus, I do think that's a great combination the 4:3 and low carb, for me I gave up sugar in April and have had sugar/sweet/chocky cravings pretty bad since but I'm determined to win this sugar battle, its just a pity my weightloss battle has taken the backseat.
