The mention of Newcastle reminded me of the time my husband tried to convince that 'Newcastle Brown Ale' used to have an advertising slogan that went.........'Newcastle Brown Ale, helping fat lasses get pregnant since 1876'.............please confirm that he made this up?

What a burn yesterday!

Manly thing too, 6 hours on the new Aerator and scarifier from Lidl, took out about 30 barrows from my 10x10mtr lawn, raked, seeded, top dressed, watered, looks like a very used cricket crease at the present.
Enormous sense of achievement though as I just know it should now grow like grass and not a moss and dandelion combo.....

New bike arrived, it must have been on 5:2 for years cos it weighs next to nothing... Tested around Wednesdays circuit and was 2 1/2 mins quicker despite an unfriendly wind and being a fast day. Worth every penny!

I'm a 61 yr old man. Have always enjoyed team sports and the after game socialising. In my late 40's I made the fundamental life choice error of retiring from active sport but maintaining my eating and drinking habits with a resulting "blow out" in my weight, especially around the belly. Since retirement and a knee replacement, I've made the time to attend gym 2 or 3 sessions/week. This, together with the 5:2 diet, seems to be making a difference but I could probably lose more weight if I didn't drink so much on weekends. Just not ready to give up this pleasure right now. My hope is that I'll find the 5:2 diet is sustainable and that it will make a difference for me. :like:

New 5:2er here from Southern California, USA. On my second day of fasting and doing well. I lost over 40lbs since Jan doing the healthy/low carb thing and not snacking, and just added the 5:2 to it and am seeing a boost in my weight loss already. I still try to follow my pre 5:2 guidelines on Feed days but not so stressed if I slip up a bit on those days. I have another 40 lbs or so to go. Nice to find a place that is not just ladies.

Hi PML, another motorcyclist here - and Saturday night at a party I was chatting to someone who works for Triumph in Hinckley. If your Bonnie is recent then that is where it was assembled (I think most of the bits are made abroad though). I have a BMW R1200RT for best and a Suzuki DL650 VStrom for commuting - which I don't do any more since I retired...
5:2 worked for me, I did not have much to lose so am now in maintenance mode at around 138 lbs, still leaving big gaps between meals but not restricting calories much. Good luck with your next 40 lbs!
