It was the 'but they must have a slight wobble' as he shook them, blue eyes gleaming manically (!?) which put me off slightly ...

However I think Kimberly did a fantastic job, really interesting bakes, and Ruby is doing well too in her artless way :victory:

It would have been better if Mary really had hit PH with that bread dough - nearly a custard pie moment there

Great episode again last night - even on a fast day I could watch the pies without too much trauma. Those custard tarts looked hard - made me want to give them a go though, not had a custard tart in years! I always want to give everything a go though. Good job fasting allows for this!

Kimberley - she's lovely, very smiley, but I'm starting to want to see her have a massive baking fail. She's too good! I definitely think she'll be in the final though, with Ruby and I'm not sure who else. Maybe Beca. This year, can't see any of the guys going that far. I may be wrong.

I do think they put that episode in specifically so they could say 'soggy bottom' many many times...

Lovely end to a Thursday Fast... Watched the pie episode. I agree that the custard pies looked surprisingly tricky, not helped by the tins which seemed to be the exact opposite of non-stick! Interesting snippet in the history bit which referred to a custard pie made with almond milk. I wonder how well that compares to a dairy custard, anyone know? :?:
I agree with @greenmonster about the talent so far. Early days tho, it could all change.
Feeling VERY peckish now!

10 minute warning everyone. Settling down with a cup of chai and a home made choc chip cookie. It's not a fast day. Sorry if it is for you. You can have one tomorrow

Oh I will miss Glen! The others were better but he was a breath of fresh air. I still don't have a favourite. I'm in awe of their millefueille.....

I sat and peeled pickling onions while it was on! Will miss Glen.
Who became star baker? I missed that bit.

@PennyForthem, it was Frances! I really like her and think she's got a good chance of winning.

I don't bake, I don't eat sweet things at all and am currently doing low-carb. And I'm absolutely riveted by GBBO. Don't miss a single episode. I watch as if it was a tense crime thriller - edge of seat, nail-biting, ooh, ooh, it's about to collapse, nooooo!

Love it! Go figure!

Morning all! I watched it and was so sad to see Glen go. I know he wasn't the best baker, but I really liked him.

I shall day dream about choux pastry nuns all day now!

I'm sorry to lose Glen too. Such a sweet guy.
I've never heard of Religeuses and had to google them. I loved the way the tops were sliding off the bases, just imagine how panic-stricken you'd be!
I thought they all seemed really tired after the millefeuille session... Four hours full on, by the looks of it. Frances's pastries definitely looked the smartest, really impressive, but I think they're all still pretty close. Game on!!

Ps @rawkaren lucky thing meeting Mary!
