Bake Off!
27 Aug 2013, 16:44
Even though it's a fast day, I fully intend to watch the Great British Bake Off tonight as I can't wait for the repeat at the weekend. I can't bear Masterchef and yet I love Bake Off (despite an irrational prejudice against anything bearing the over-used moniker 'the Great British...' or 'the Nation's...').

Who else is with me?

Me too. Bake Off on a fast day - my sort of masochism

I'm watching GBBO here in the US, thanks to the folks who post it on youtube. I find that this kind of food porn really helps me get through a fast day. I can fantasize that on some feed day in the future, I too might spend four hours putting together an appealing mass of fat, white flour and sugar.

Sometimes that's enough!

Ha zillz, that's exactly how I see it - fantasy! I did, however, spend at least 2 hours on Saturday making the most incredible chocolate beer cake - so dark, deep flavoured and yummy. I had 2 slices over the weekend and the rest is either inside my husband or inside the freezer. Possibly a million calories per slice but might just be the best chocolate cake I've ever made..

Well, can't stay on here any longer, eyes boggling. I've been on here lots today as doing computer work from home. I have a smart phone but it's rubbish for things like forums and I get obsessed enough as it is so I tend to be on here sporadically when I'm supposed to be doing other stuff!

Off to make myself a mushroom omelette then will enjoy Bake Off with a bowl of porridge whilst crocheting a granny blanket for my niece... its bread week folks!

Enjoy!

I'll be watching tonight! I'm fasting today instead of yesterday. I made a chocolate cake at the weekend too, a chocolate fudge cake with white and dark chocolate fingers around the outside and white and dark chocolate shavings on the top. I took it to a neighbours bbq and there was none left to worry about!

I'm another fan and I love the whole baking thing. My gran was a great baker and used to give a talk to Ladies groups on '30 ways to ice a bun' about 50 years ago so baking is bred in the bone. Normally it's feast day but with the bank hol I'm fasting today. Still, tomorrow......

I'm here. Made cookies at the weekend, one batch of choc chip and one batch of apple, pecan and cinnamon. Flipping lovely!

Fasting today so also looking forward to my low calorie hot chocolate later. Hmmm, might have a cuppa in a minute. Just been offered strawberries and cream. Nooooooo

I love making bread, never tried breadsticks but am also going to give them a go. Oh! Just remembered, I said earlier today that not a crumb will pass my lips for the foreseeable.
