Yes, sad to see Glen go too - what a big bear of a man! The bit about clootie dumpling made me long for some - I've got a cloot somewhere, going to hunt it down and get a nice big clootie on the boil! The smell is divine when it's simmering away and goes all over the house! I haven't made one for years, although most people do the microwave version now, it's not the same!

Hi all
feels like its been a million years since I've been on here - combination of mad time at work, husband being home all week now (so less time spent on the internet) and the computer not wanting to work when I do get chance to come on (I don't have this on my smart phone, it's too cranky and slow to cope with it!)
Bake off was good last night - we had our neighbours round for dinner as they are having their kitchen done out, and we made them watch it, too! Was a shame to see Glen go but he really deserved to this time - I think last time he just squeaked through and he knew it. This week's 'ooh I fancy making that' was a sticky suet pudding - maybe a jam roly poly. Takes me back to childhood! Or maybe a steamed treacle sponge....drool!
Dhana, I'll be over for clootie dumpling when it finishes boiling - November maybe?!

VERY excited!! Just flicked through the rubbishy commercial channels on the tele and found the "Great British Bake Off' and am settling down for some pie porn!!! I didn't realise it was on here so a serendipitous discovery!
I'm going for the stilton, potato, gruyere and cheddar pie - yum!!

Cups of tea/bouillon/wine at the ready UK peeps. .....
I just started watching this last week thanks to this forum- I'm hooked now!
aaah the stress of the technical challenge! And another thing I would love to have a go at making but probably never will.
And how do I always end up fasting on Bake Off day??!

Would not have liked to have judged that. They were all brilliant. Still don't have favourite. Maybe Ruby?
I want Beca or Frances to win - Ruby's a bit annoying now although she does seem genuinely surprised to get star baker. And Kimberley is very good but I think that she believes she's going to win, and no one likes a show off!
Beca would be my favourite to win but I think it will probably be Kimberley, she has been pretty consistent all the way through.
Sad to see Christine go (

Beca is so funny. She has great humility too. I agree about Kimberley. I'm away for the final so I need to avoid all news on it until I get back or else it will spoil it when I watch on catch up. I actually cried when Christine got the news.
I think we have old episodes here, but I don't care, it is soooo good. I feel that rhubarb meringue coming on when we have guests!!
I find Ruby a bit of a drama queen (well, that's how she comes over to me, anyway).
Beca nosing ahead by a whisker!

Me I prefer cooking over baking although I can trow together a devine chewy chocolate cake with heavey chocolate topping or some lovely apple pie.
So I watch the British Masterchef every evening (but is becoming slightly bored with it), I think we are only on 2012 here, not sure though. The Bake Off I haven't seen, but some commercial for what seems like a silly Swedish rip of. Swedish rip of's of British shows s-ks
Suggestions for great cooking/culinary shows???

The 5 2 Masterchef?
Fast food?
Fast food?
30 mins UK folks!! Hairy dieters cottage pie and wine to accompany my viewing tonight. Not a fast day so won't be licking the screen...
So sorry to see Becca go. I back Kimberley to win as she is technically the best even though she always looks rather pleased with herself. Francis needs to work on her flavours and Rubes on her presentation. I'm away next week so I will miss it
