Hi Pip
He's not keen on me "dieting" thinks i should just exercise more, also he can't believe that not having breakfast will do me any good, I have tried to explain it's not just about loosing weight etc, also i suffer from IBS quite a bit, so am hoping that this could releive a lot of the bloating that i get on a daily basis
I want to enjoy my food again, not just "eat"

I'm a stubborn one though, so i'll do it anyway

Feeling not too bad this afternoon - think i might be able to last till dinner after all!! i do have an options hot choc (39cals) standing by just in case i get that 4o'lock feeling!
If you feel light headed perhaps you should eat something. I always have breakfast, I can't do otherwise since I can't afford any dizziness because I have to work...
Not all of us are made to be able to last an entire day without eating, just listen to your body.
Sounds like you're doing great :like:

Has your hubby watched the Horizon doc?
Thanks, i'm feeling OK

yes, hubby did whatch the Horizon programme, i think he's just worried that it might harm rather than do good, he's very sceptical on these things

I thought our bodies were designed to withstand a fasted state?
You have to do what feels right for you. Maybe like many on here, you will find in due course that you need a two meal fast day, one of those meals being breakfast. For me personally, I haven't found it a problem to skip breakfast and lunch, even though I am (was?) a hardened three square meals a day person. My view at the outset was that my naturally thin husband only ever eats breakfast at the weekend and frequently doesn't get lunch until 2pm or even later. He manages a 12 hour plus working day/week like this so it seems reasonable for me to manage a day. I'm also very wary of turning the eating switch to 'on'. However, that's me, not you!

I think that if you are on your feet/active all day it makes sense that you might feel more lightheaded than someone who is sedentary.

This is meant to be a WOE for life.... You won't do any harm by experimenting
A cup of bouillon (5-15 cals) does wonders for me when I feel that I just can't go any longer without eating something. I think with having to pee so much I just need a little salt replacement. Good luck, it does get easier. :)

We are not all the same. And each and one of us hove some sort of sensitivity.

For example, I have a very sensitive stomach. And I know that if I don't listen to it, it will make sure that I suffer. Only once I tried to fast and eat no carbs and skip breakfast and I was suffering for half a day. What did I learn? To always listen to my body! There are people who can skip breakfast, lunch, whatever and people who can't. It's not bad, it's just the way we're made I guess.
I find the fast days easiest because of that hunger switch you mention. I fast completely as I can't trust myself to just eat a little. I find that I want to delay breakfast the next day as well as I know once I start eating I'll be hungry all day.

That's another example of how different we all are. I am OK with little food but I could kill if I had none... :curse:
I find this too. Once I start to eat, I then feel hungry. My first fast day I had breakfast and dinner - but found the wait in between quite hard. The second fast day I waited until lunchtime to have my breakfast!! This worked much better and I did not feel as hungry in the afternoon. Now that I am in my second week, I have also managed to wait until dinner for my full 500 calories. SO nothing wrong with missing breakfast!

My first fast day I had a rotten headache. But not had one since - so it does get better very quickly - well it did for me!

Good luck!
Jo.
Oh Oh!!! Here comes the headache that everyone talks about - not good! Have been eating total rubbish up until I decided to try this diet and clearly not drinking enough water which I am rectifying now!!
I am going to stick with the missing breakfast thing and maybe keep having soup for lunch. Not sure if I will eat dinner tonight, will see how things go - might be best if I just avoid the kitchen altogether!!!!!
Also my first fast day today.... Had breakfast (1 egg and toast) was trying to skip lunch but caved and bought a fruit salad from boots!!! Feel a headache coming on but drinking plenty of water!!!! Xx
Remember that fruit is high in sugar and although it might relieve a headache temporarily the subsequent drop in blood sugar will result in increased hunger and probably a return of the headache. It's best to stick to vegetables and protein sources on fast days IMO.
