Re: ADF Attic (or DODO's Den)
24 Mar 2015, 11:15
Hi there fellow DODOs hope you are all well.
This morning I took a brave step and tried on my holiday clothes, you know the ones I mean. The clothes that only come out and you wear when no one you know will see you, the "I've got a suntan and I'm gonna show you it" ones!
So, here goes... Shorts, chucked 2 pairs away, too big, make my bum saggy! Tried on the smaller size .....result, mmm bum doesn't look big :)
Dresses.... I have one which I love, it's orange, very holidayish. Last year it kinda fitted but I didn't take it, because 2 weeks of all inclusive and it wouldn't have looked good. This year, omg. I have wiggle room in it, it skims ,it sashays, I look hot...hahahahaha ...feeling good.
Vest tops, yes I am wearing them cos my bingo wings don't look to bad....feeling good.
I have a strapless jumpsuit for evenings...... It fits me it fits me :)
Ok so now it's the biggie. A few years ago I brought a kaftan from eBay. It's a full length slim fitting sexy thing that you throw on when your lounging by the pool and feel the need to get a drink but don't want to scare the other holidaymakers with your wobbly backside. It has never fitted but I have always kept it, stroked it, it's been my one day item. I tried it on.... It has never fitted. Today it did with room to spare. I shall be a pool goddess. :) :)
So now I can put it off no longer...out came the swimwear!!! I hate trying on swimwear!! First one...charity shop..too big, same with the next one! Ok let's try on the tankini I brought yesterday....hey I think I look good in it, and that's what matters right. Wait for it, wait for it...bikini...well it fits but my body confidence thing took over, too old, too fat, hide your body woman..you know what I'm talking about right? Well holiday is in a week and a half that's a few more fasts... I may just take it. I will have to have a good talk with myself but I think it's going with me.
Today has been a big eye opener for me. I don't weigh so I don't know how I'm doing. Apart from my scales of Satan saying bad things before they died. I can't see the difference, you don't do you? You just fast and get on with it. It's not like you go from a size 18 to an 8 overnight and say "oh yeah I see it now" but today I did see it. I tried on clothes I haven't worn for a while, some since our last trip abroad a year ago and there is room to spare. I have lost weight I have lost inches and I look good, really good in some of them, actually all of them (I'm ignoring the bikini in that sentence!) and I ..... Well I'm feeling good about my body. It's been a long while since I said that. Yes I still have a bit to go, but it's not as much as it was last year. Or the year before that!!!
I am now going to practice my pool walk, you know the one where in your mind you are a Greek goddess who floats around the pool looking a million dollars, instead of rushing to the bar like a mad woman as quick as you can so no one can see the cellulite on your arse!!

What an inspiring post @Minsmum !! How wonderful to have your holiday clothes looking awesome! I'll be trying some on in the coming weeks and hope some of mine make me feel awesome too! Now...as for being a Goddess around the pool...I'll let that to you! Congratulations!

Another rough boot camp this morning and feeling rather beat up. I'll be glad for my rest day tomorrow. :dazed:

Had a successful fast yesterday and today is open. I had my menu all planned for dinner and then DH told me that he has to pick up our Grandson after school and take him to his basketball game and won't be home till late. So.....my menu will be put off till tomorrow and I'm on my own tonight. That probably means a piece of Swiss cheese and some pretzels. That's my go to meal when I'm left to my own devices.

Have a fabulous day!

Oh dear! Where are the DODO's today? Hope all is well!

My husband has come down with the plague, and I'm doing my best not to catch it! I'm having extra coconut oil today for it's antibacterial and antiviral properties and hoping for the best. He was really feeling bad last evening, but slept well and is a little better today. The worst is the coughing. He could hardly speak this morning as every time he tried he began coughing and couldn't stop! Our weekend plans have been cancelled as they would involve sitting out in the damp & cold to watch baseball. If the weather were going to be warm, we would go, but the last thing he should do is sit out in the cold.

If I remain healthy, I'm going to go to my sister's for the weekend. That is unless the husband is worse. If he feels ok and is just going to sit around napping all weekend, I'm heading out! It's about a 3 hr drive to my sister's, but I don't mind. I'm only working a 1/2 day on Friday so I can be there by mid-afternoon and we'll have until Sunday afternoon together.

Eating plan for today is "normal" but trying to stay a bit on the low side as I overdid it a bit yesterday. Tomorrow will be another fast day.

Later!

@Lori how's your husband doing? I don't blame you for escaping to your sister. Have a good time x
@Nursebean where are you? Hope all ok x
Fasting today, working the afternoon/evening shift , so I'm spending the morning pottering around the house talking to the dog and such like!! Living the rock and roll lifestyle again Image

Good Morning!

My fast day is underway. Had my early morning boot camp workout and then came home to my high protein shake and a TB of coconut oil. The plan is to have another TB of coconut oil at lunch time and then an omelet for dinner. I'll be over 500 calories because of the oil, but if it keeps me from getting sick, it'll be well worth it!

Husband is hanging in there. The worst part if the coughing. He gets "fits" where he just can't seem to stop coughing. He slept fairly well, so that's a plus. I'll see how he is in the morning before I decide if I'm going to go away and leave him alone for the weekend.

A dreary day today with some rain on the way, but it is supposed to be a bit warmer. We have 1 day of decent temperatures and then back to the cold for the weekend. Spring is being very bashful this year in making it's appearance!

Have good days!

Oh @minsmum, what a fabulous post! I am so pleased for you re the holiday clothes....and can just imagine how thrilling it was for you to try them on, one after another....and be able to say "yes"! Well done you!

I have come in here for a visit. Am contemplating Beans' DODO challenge.....as I really can't trust myself (yet) to behave on non-fast days. This is Wk 4 of my return to fasting & I have tended towards 4:3 anyway.....so DODO is really not such a stretch, is it? Hmmmm....will ponder & come back to you all!

Come on @Hazlenut20 you can do it...it is only for 4 days after all!! ;)
Minsmum? What can I say?!! That must have bean THE best feeling in the world! I am so pleased for you. I knew you were doing well which is why I didn't worry too much when you had your scales "episode". Well done, indeed. That is just brilliant! ImageImage that is a Herculean effort!!
Image
and now its party time...Image
Sorry I wasn't around (and keep those germs away @Lori ;) ) I've bean concentrating my efforts on my hair again...doh! Image I recently got fed up with white, by accident ended up with very dark brown (which sadly doesn't suit me anymore) decided to go white again and, after man processes, have now ended up with "apricot" hair. I can't face doing anymore to it yet, so it'll have to wait. As long as I don't go out that's fine!!
Re: ADF Attic (or DODO's Den)
26 Mar 2015, 15:45
Oh no @nursebean !! Apricot???????? What will you do next to correct that? I'd be scared to death to try to color my own hair. I have no doubt I'd end up with bright green! ACK!!

I must admit, for one terrifying moment I DID think it would go green! The worrying thing for me is that I seem to be reacting to these dyes lately. I have dyed my hair for many, many years with no problem but lately my face burns, I come out in a rash. I took a couple of hayfever tablets which has helped. I've got two boxes of dye sitting looking at me. I'm not sure whether to go for the platinum blonde one or the lightest ash blonde. I think you're supposed to use ash blonde to reduce the "brassiness". I'll leave it for a few days, though...let my hair breathe again! What a silly Bean

Just in from work and omg laughing so much Image APRICOT! OMG @Nursebean I'm sooooo sorry for laughing, but apricot!! Wow.
@Hazelnut20 thank you. Come join Beanies challenge, it's one step up from 4:3 just with the weekends too.

Hope your fast went well DODOers, food tomorrow :)

Oh Bean@nursebean please be careful if you're reacting to dyes!
You can really end up with a very nasty reaction x can you get one of those vegetable dyes to repair the apricot poodle look? I think they're probably gentler and safer? X

Thank you SO much mum of Min @Minsmum!!
No, it's not as bad as it sounds (she says trying to convince herself!!) Thanks for your concern (as my mate Harrison would say) Candy. I do need to dye it again and then just tone it to death but I think next time I may go to the hairdressers and just pay that little extra ;)
Had a great fast yesterday...with soup, strawberry trifle and Cheerios (who would've thought you could eat so many tasty treats when trying to lose weight ;) ) and today is fish pie day...mmm
Any DODOers fasting today? :?:

Hello DODOers I'm fasting today, think I'm out of sync with you this week due to lunch dates etc. love the flexibility of this woe. Hope youre all fine and dandy. Sorry about laughing Beanie, please be careful if you are reacting to the dyes. My niece ended up in A&E due to a hair dye reaction, it was not a good look. Mind her hair looked nice!
Thankyou all @Nursebean @Lori @Hazelnut20@Rawkaren@Candicemariefor your comments on my post I think in reality being a pool goddess may be in my mind and no one else's but so be it. The important thing is how I see myself not anyone else. I shall do a strut for you all cos you all helped me feel like this :) x

No worries @Minsmum I loved your rolling around green man! Very amusing :) I am very pleased to have received advice from the hair expert whose product I bought...Scott Cornwall. Apparently I've got to apply Lilac Haze, leave for 4-6 weeks (difficult) and then apply his Iced Platinum product. Hopefully, I should go a light beige colour and, eventually, white! Don't know why I went dark again. What was I thinking?!!
Oh sorry to see we're out of sync again. Will you be doing the Bean Challenge (i.e. starting the same day as the rest of us (Tues 7th) ) or will you just continue as is?
I must say I actually feel a lot slimmer myself today. I very nearly weighed myself this morning but then I thought "NO!" don't fall into Satan's Scale lair. So, according to the way I feel, I am now one stone lighter this week!
How many DODOers do we have at the moment?
