Hiya, and good morning, afternoon or whatever blasted time it is over there!!!! I know you are a day behind that's all I can figure!!
So you are joining our little ADF tent too! It is going ok so far, I didn't eat last fast and will probably eat 500cal or less today.
How is SF?

Just an interesting note on Krista Varady's Facebook page. SOmeone asked if it was ok not to eat on a fast day on the ADF. She replied, yes as long as you are drinking sufficiently. Someone else asked if it would affect muscle mass and that the 500 cals was supposed to prevent muscle mass loss and ensure it was fat loss that was happening. She replied that there is no long term evidence of what a complewte fast would do to musce mass retention; she assumes lack of prtein on a fast day would decrease muscle retention but there has been no clinical trial.
She advoated keeping protein high on a fast day to keep appetite ic check.

Do you actually go to bed Debs?
Great journal.
Just wondering if ADF is affecting your typing skills hun!
Just remember to eat something, now and then. (That's my mothers voice by the way)

Thanks Mum!!!!
And yes, I do, it is 3.30pm here in WA and I guess 9.30am there so we overlap a bit more than when I was in Tas!! I am eating today you'll be pleased to hear, but thank you for asking@carieoates. Yes my typing is a bit awry at the moment cos I try and go too fast!

Thanks to you and Bean, my banquet has disappeared in all but memory! Back down to 10 8 (and three quarters!)
Thing is, I'm out of synch now, as today was supposed to my fast day. What shall I add to bump up the cals a bit? Not thinking anything sweet, BTW! I have salad for lunch and a beanie veg curry for this evening, plus my lovely bowl of AB for supper!! (I'll save you the box, shall I Debs?)

What would you do without your beloved AB?
Thing is, bean it's only been a fixture on my diet since after Christmas!! I think I've turned to it instead of wine!
Well, if it works!

Oh blimey, a choice of wine or All Bran eh?? Life truly wouldn't be worth living. Pass me the cardboard someone
Well, it is great that a few friends have joined me. I was tempted to say chums, but then I sound a bit Famous Five!!
Anyway, I recorded my lowest weight today but expect it to rise again tomorrow as I had a bit of a gratuitous eating day today! including a mini muffin and choccy cake, raspberries and creme fraiche. I had a couple of rolls for lunch which makes a huge change and all in all probably over did it a bit, but hey, I'm fasting tomorrow! Funnily though, I didn't feel hungry all day but practised a bit of 'mindless' eating for a change!!!
The trend is still downwards so it is interesting to see what happens. I am finding it relatively easy, despite the long days and I like the structure. As I am not needing a lot to lose I am hoping that this will kick things along a bit. I haven't found it easy to lose so far hence this experiment.

Here here @Debs
We must be in complete sync or something... I wasn't really feeling hungry today either but think I over did it. Cup cakes and toblerone to name a few...
Really looking forward to seeing my weigh in tomorrow because of the excess eating today. Not in a negative way - in a "how high did I manage to get it cause its gonna get smashed away anyway cause I will be fasting" kind of way lol

Well,
Several days in now and it is all very interesting. Still on a very mild downward trajectory but definitely not as downward as I would like. There's no point writing about everything going well all the time when it doesn't always.
I wanted to put my graph in like clever Tim, but don't seem to be able to. Suffice it to say I am up and down every fast and eating day but the weight isn't shifting as quickly as I might have expected it to. I ate only 12 almonds yesterday which I thought might have shown on the scale this morning but didn't. So, questions:
1. Am I eating too much?
2. Am I eating too little?
3. Water retention?
4. Not 'regular' enough?
5. Too much salt?
6. Too little salt?
7. Too little water?
8. Too much water?
9. Have I hit my set weight/ plateau/ famine reaction weight?
Phew!!!!
I need to do some research on the salt thing, but that shouldn't be a problem as I drink heaps as it is so hot here, but maybe not enough. I was out in the field yesterday in the heat and didn't drink a huge amount, but I certainly wasn't dehydrated.
In theory I should be creating a calorie deficit if I am fasting every other day even if I do accidentally stuff myself silly for a couple of days, but the reality is, I am not hungry much of the time, so maybe I am not eating enough?
I do seem to struggle to get below this weight everytime so maybe I need to try and reset my set point. Must look into that one. When I go home on the 10th for 6 days I shall eat whatever I want, whenever I want; maybe that will kick things off again.
I have only had one day since I have been on site that I have eaten a significant amount of carbs by way of bread etc. I have had no rice, spuds etc, and only a small amount of bread, so what the blazes is going on???? Answers on a postcard please!!
I'm not worrying too much about the exercise at the moment as I don't think it's a major component and anyway I am usually exhausted after long days.

Hi Debs. Sorry you are disappointed. I read somewhere that to shift your set point you need to be at a stable weight for 21 days before you try to go down again and cycle 21 days reducing and 21 days staying stable, ie within a couple of pounds. Maybe its just the heat an you are retaining water.
How frustrating!! I think a simple way to tell if you're dehydrated is the color of your urine. If it's pale/clear and there's plenty of it, you're properly hydrated. If you only have modest amounts and/or it's dark, well then you need more water
I"m sorry you're not seeing better results for all of the hard work you're putting in.
