Topic bump to say this was late last year and my hairloss had started to slow down its roughly the same position now I've only recently started vitB supplements
Just wondering if everyone else posting at the time have noticed any change all interesting information
for our newcomers.
@gillymary The author of the post buddie how's your hair coming along?. :clover: :clover: :clover:
Hi @Sue.Q glad to fill you in, had to do a lot of things and it seems to have improved

Just a bit of history. Had a surprising amount of hair in my brush just after Xmas and it didn't stop and was more than usual. Started hair skin and nails tonic supplements and multi B. Also coincided with my deciding to pull back from fasting just in case it was part of the cause. Doctors visit show up I needed some vitamin D but nothing else out of kilter like thyroid. She suggested could have been an incident 3 months earlier and that tied in with an anaesthetic and small op. Still my hair loss still seemed more than is usual, my hairdresser was not convinced could not find patches of loss but anyway I changed my hair products. Tracked down some Biotin and upped protein consumption with chia dessert. My last effort before a specialist was to visit a herbalist. She was great and made up some specific drops to generally support my nutrition help me relax and improve sleep and also suggested silica keep up multiple B and vitamin C.

Outcome fingers crossed my hair loss seemed to have returned to normal. Not pleasant experience at the time
It does go to show that it all comes down to what goes in, or not, shows on the outside. Thankfully, so far, post op I haven't had any hair loss, but I am soooo spotty, I'm like a teenager. A clean up of my bad eating habits and taking the supplements again is proceeding apace.
I went through a really itchy phase and was wondering if my skin was trying to shed toxins. So I have been more diligent to loofah. Meanwhile good fluids and elimination. We are after all doing a process which is a form of detox and our skin an large organ with the capacity to eliminating toxins.

It is amazing really and endlessly facinating
My skin has been very dry and itchy this winter but I was wondering if it was the damp weather. My hair has always fallen out but have noticed not so much.
Perhaps we're all moulting!
Such a helpful thread, thanks all.
Special thanks to Wolfie for the great recipes, can't wait to try them.
Finally, to those who use coconut oil in the shower, has it ever caused any plumbing issues (clogged lines or pipes)? When I tried oil pulling (decided it wasn't for me) that was one of the cautions many sites warned of, so I'm wondering if others have had to deal with it. TIA.
Went back over the posts and saw that I forgot to say - make a powder with a blender for the fascial scrub. And - do not scrub to often, rips the natural oils out.

Now for my poor nails, after they had grown almost 2cm I decided to file them down, using a glass file that is said is the best for the nails. HAHAHA, after that they started to crack and split and so far I haven't managed to make them grow again. Buhu, since I am a fan of longish nails.

On and of during the winter I have had this crack in my thumb and at time deeper than others - over 1mm deep. Guess if that hurts   And now it's back with a row of tiny cracks along the edge of the nail. OMG the pain when I bump the thumb into something... Advice anyone? And please don't tell me to p-e on it
Have you tried Aloe Vera gel on your poor old thumb? You can buy it on line from Amazon or any good pharmacy store @Wolfie...is it available in Sweden?
I never saw this thread back in December, and then I noticed I was mentioned in here! Ha ha! Anyway, here are my two cents:

Yes, I do take Biotin and have for several years (in other words, before I started fasting, which was 9 months ago). I am not sure if it works or not (God help me if it does!), but I am afraid to stop taking it in case it is working. yes, I still am experiencing hair loss, but I think it might be subsiding just a bit.

I want more info on the Zinc (i.e., how much to take?).

I have recently started taking magnesium, and maybe that is helping.

I have a bulletproof coffee two or three times a week.

Stress levels are still pretty high, but I am trying to manage them with exercise and meditation.

Maybe some day I'll have a full head of hair like I used to, but I am not going to hold my breath (as I just entered perimenopause.....yikes!).

And I also would like info on putting coconut oil down the drains. I don't think that is a good idea but I don't know how else I would put it in my hair and then clean it off again.

Thanks, all!
I also had some kind of rash, eczema and very very dry skin. I use a mixture of coconut oil and aloe vera gel to massage my skin and it's been much better since.

For my hair, I also use coconut oil I put as a mask several hours before I wash them, with a baby shampoo and, since I do that, I don't lose them as much as before, they are stronger, no more daindruff, and they even grow faster, arriving nearly to my bum

I also use a tiny bit of coconut oil as hair product when I brush them and it works wonder.

About my nails, I don't keep them long but don't bite them either. I just prefer them when they are neatly cut. I take beer yeast for a month every 3 months (when the seasons change) and it really really helps with skin, nails and hair.
This is a really useful thread. I can't be sure the fasting from March to August last year caused my accelerated hair loss. I have always had really fine hair unfortunately so I can see my scalp now! It may be the age I am. I have noticed.it has got drier which is good as it was greasy easily before. I have just.restarted fasting again and a bit worried I will.go bald!! I am not sure which supplement to take Biotin has good reviews. does perfectly help regrowth or just make it.better condition does anyone know? Have you found this wildmissus?
Are we implying that intermittent fasting, particularly where people are having 24 to 36 hours of not ingesting anything but liquids is the cause of the hair/nail/skin issues??

What are the specific vitamins and mineral levels that can be at risk. if we had the list then we can google ways to boost those levels. I prefer vitamins and minerals from food sources not a bottle im afraid as the cynic in me doesnt believe they are actually "real" vitamins and minerals.\

Looking up Perfectil from previous post by @Izzythey say

Perfectil® is the UK’s No1 skin, hair and nails formula. Perfectil® is designed to complement your daily skin and hair care routine with a range of micronutrients including vitamin C, riboflavin (vit. B2), niacin (vit.B3) and biotin which contribute to the maintenance of normal skin, plus minerals selenium and zinc which contribute to the maintenance of normal hair and nail health.

is that the list?

for Selenium im just going to have to get to love Brazil Nuts
My hari fell out (not bald though) and my nails split when my thyroid elves was down. Now, after a bit over 2 months, the hair grows out in tiny tufts here and there and the nails are (with the help of Second Nail from Isadora) keeping it together and grows nicely.

From what I understand, it's not really IF which is the cause, but weight loss (biotin levels low after weight loss), and possibly cutting out too many healthy fats in a bid to lose weight.

I think as long as you eat a lot of healthy fats and biotin-rich foods on your feast days you should be OK, but a lot of us don't necessarily think about balancing nutrients, or worry about eating for maximum nutrition on fast days, or eat as much of relatively high-cal fats etc as we should. When you are trying to lose weight, eating a cake on a fast day is probably more appealing than eating a handful of nuts to most people, but it is important to remember it's not so much calories as quality that counts.
