So sorry to hear this Sally. A bedside vigil is extremely tough. Wishing you the strength to come through this difficult time.

Re food, I put on loads of weight when I sat with my mum as my sister kept bringing in bags of sweets and we both just sat there and ate our way through them. We were there every day for about 10 days. Definitely don't think about fasting but probably do see if you can eat something more nutritious than I did.

Sending you best wishes at this difficult time Sally. I think that sitting with someone at the end of life is one of the best gifts you can give to someone, however hard it is. I am always grateful I was able to sit with my mother when it was her time. But look after yourself too.

My thoughts are with you. I considered it a great privilege to be with both my Mum and my Dad when they died. I found it a great comfort after they were gone that I had been holding their hands. I wish you the same comfort and calmness that I got.

Sallyo as@Nessiesaid it is a great privilege to be with your Mom at this time. I went through this with my Dad two years ago. I feel we enter this world to waiting arms and we should be there to pass our loved ones back. I sat with my Dad under the same circumstances you are going through now. Although he no strenghth left to speak he sqeezed my hand about a half hour before he passed. My heartfelt thoughts are with you now because I know how hard it can be. Spend time with your family remembering the good times over the years with your Mom. Celebrate her life and God bless.

I am also thinking of you Sally. I too was with both my parents when they died and it seemed right . I hope your sister gets there soon and you can support each other.
