That's a shame, beanie, but at least you haven't spent a lot of time finding that out.
Candy, gave up on the pulling after the first pull!!!

Right, off for a loxchop!!

Bleugh @candicemarie] give up on the pulling. I tried it twice! The result was a sink and wall sprayed with the stuff. Vile. I know lots of people have tried it and have great success, but all I got out of it were sore stomach muscles from retching and sore arms from scrubbing the bloody stuff off the wall!

Sorry to hear that bean, but hopefully you haven't outlaid too much up front on things.
I struggle with the mouth feel of coconut oil, I'd rather have teeth pulled than pull oil!!!

Oh you bunch of softies, coconut oil pulling is much more pleasant than other oils, in chew then swish, no retching and at the end spit into a wad of tissues. Mouth and teeth feels clean and it is very healthy for your gums. Periodontal disease is supposed to cause cardiac conditions so this is one way to really clean out the gums and between the teeth. But hey if you can't do it there might be other ways with flossing interdental brushes and antibacterial mouth washes. Prefer pulling much simpler

@nursebean, I had to ask the very same question months ago! Can't remember the link that was posted then but it was very helpful!

I have a jar of coconut grease (sorry - oil!) in my fridge. I tried it for frying and my husband hated the taste. so it has remained there ever since. I keep intending to try the pulling but haven't tried it yet - flossing seems simpler to me!

We don't know this, just that gun disease is associated with heart disease...it could be that one factor leads to both our that heart disease causes gum disease! Though I doubt it's the latter and I expect that the two are related due to a common cause.

Lol  I didn't realise that you two had arrived after the great oil pulling experiment

As far as I know it's supposed to be done first thing before eating and drinking. I don't know why but maybe it's because it does make one heave

I tried it a couple of times and apart from the bleugghhhh (as @gillymary said, tissues at the ready. Kitchen roll for me! I like the clean feeling it leaves. Unfortunately I have so little time in the mornings I don't do it very often but I do cook omelettes in coconut oil (not after it's been swished)

I would definitely do it more often if I had time. I did the full recommended time but man did it make my eyes water.

You're a braver girl than me @Wendy Darling I can't even brush my back teeth properly due to over active gag reflex.

Oh I have that too. That's why I need oil pulling. Wonder if hypnotherapy would work?

I used to have gag reflex, but my latest sonic toothbrush has stopped this. Amazing. I can now brush all teeth without retching. Probably TMI, but true.
