Evening @gillymary@jools7@daydreamer21 @Sue.Q, Hope you're all going well.
Fast day finished here....
Yes garden will grow slowly. I;'m getting better at keeping them alive :).
I'm starting to fade here, I will be quick as well.
I hope all are going well. I went pretty well today except going over as i nibbled at some Japanese wakame sushi seaweed. I could eat that stuff as a noodle substitute.

took me over 100 cals. Oh well.

night all

Fasting fivesome calling @gillymary@daydreamer21@jools7 And @Jo05

What's 100 calories between friends and buddies Jo.
I've done far worse in the last few months.
Almost meal time on my last fast for this week feeling good to do them but with two meals out this week its not feeling to good at the moment but it will have been 2 true 500 calorie fast days which I'm pleased with tonight's meal is spaghetti bolognese ( quorn mince for mine) with courgette spaghetti the smells from my kitchen are wonderful and I would like to wait about one hour before I get stuck
into my meal.
Hope all is OK with all my buddies.
Regarding the meals out I find it difficult to calculate so I never know just how bad its actually gone last nights meal included 2 glasses of the red stuff but I'm offering to drive for tomorrow's meal and at least that will save a few calories it seems that what worked well for me last year isn't working the same this year but can only manage to fast 2days this week. Sue

The journey changes @Sue.Q I sailed along effortlessly at the beginning, then had to fast more to get any results, then found the less I ate the more I plateaued. Low carbing for long haul is not an option for me and I tend also to have a sweet palate as even when I am not having sugar which is now I still migrate to fruit.

I already cook from scratch, sounds like you do too, I just found straightjacketing myself in more fasts raised other issues. Hence the scenic route approach and having a slow down for a while making sure I maintain my losses until I can start again back in 5:2 mode. That's why I tend to like what Amanda Sallis has to say about set point and famine effect. Who is to know though what are the reasons why some people can just keep on the downward trajectory and other of us stall. I console myself it is a way of life. Love fasting days as well

I guess when you eat out unless you have very simple meals like protein and salad you would not know what has been put into things and the method of cooking. With the wine why don't you add good quality sparkling mineral water like a spritzer. Soon you swap to wanting that long cool glass of mineral water with a goodly splosh of lime or lemon juice.

@Jo05 know what you mean about seaweed I just love it but is it high in calories. I have a meso each 6:1 liquid fast day and there is usually a little but in each sachet, yum. Before 5:2 I used to have meson and extra seaweed as my hot soup with my sandwich for lunch. Golly daily sandwiches for lunch those were the days

Its morning here, 7.40am, and seeing I was woken by a flatmate stirrrrrring her glass of something (I've been know to stir things too) I'm here with a couple mins spare.
I'm 100 pounds off my from being in the healthy range, but my blood pressure has significantly repaired itself in 2 months of 5:2.
@Sue.Q you've done well to have two good fasts this week. I think you have it worked out now and the ship will start steering itself back to weight loss.
I went all the way back to 6:1 when i was not handling just one fast. I think I lost nothing in the first 4 weeks because I was on 6:1. The second month I lost 4 pounds. I guess my goal is to see the scales moving downward even the tiniest bit once a month. Otherwise I'm going to just stick to the calorie count and the two fasts. I have a pretty generous calorie count on non-fast days so I've been doing fine with 200 cals less than what they give me. I hope that's ok.

Your name reminds me of Susie Quatro :)
Good job on your fast
Jo :) :clover: :clover: :clover:

Nice to see a fasting fivesomen buddy bobbing her head up, @Jo05 it is tricky isn't it when you need to go slow in this process, what with what our bodies do in response.

I would love to steam ahead but find 6:1and a 16:8 with lowish carbs enough in helping me to maintain, I am wondering if I ought to have a crack at a 16:8 today actually. Meeting someone for an early lunch at a cafe that does a wonderful poached egg salad leaves and avocado dish. Oh that is it it then a brunch which ticks the box for low carb too. Could even fit in gym prior. On a roll here.

We seem to be missing @jools7 and @daydreamer21 hope all is going well for you both. @Sue.Q well done and all the best buddy for next fast day.

Oh dear just lost a long reply to you gillymary, grrr. Sorry, I can't rewrite it now :(. It wish they would get rid of that function where you post at the same time as another, as you lose you post if you don't see it.
Anyway have a lovely day and I will try and look for ways to drop the carbs, reluctantly and slowly :). I almost never eat sugar.
Jools7 mentioned a trip in 6 weeks to Warsaw - she might be busy. I think daydreamers been sick?
I hope they are well and come back soon.
Jo :)

Good evening @gillymary@Sue.Q@jools7and @Jo05,

sorry for my absence for awhile :frown: This week has been a bit of a strange one, I was off work Mon/Tues/Weds with a throat/chest infection and I just felt awful. It's had a bit of a knock on effect with fasting and weight gain too. I was going to fast Monday as usual but I felt so awful and needed painkillers I gave in and ate, then I fasted on Tuesday. I had a feed day on Wednesday and fasted again today. So far my weight has gone up this week, I think its to do with the amount of carbs I have been eating while off work and lying around in bed for 5 days didn't help. I need to fit in another fast this week and it's looking like it's going to be Saturday....Whether or not that actually happens is yet to be seen. I am going out tomorrow night (hopefully) with some colleagues from work for birthday drinks. I think we're going for a meal and then lots of drinking.

@Jo05 I think you and I have about the same amount of weight to lose. I have just under 80lb until I reach my goal weight. Its a long process, it's taken me about a year and a half to lose 5 and half stone so it's going to take me another year and a half to lose the rest lol.

I'm about ready for my bed so I will hopefully catch up with you lovely ladies over the weekend

Hello fellow fasting fivesomers,

Sorry I have been so absent. I have had a family crisis, and my leisurely trip to Sydney has turned into something else altogether! My dear aunt is dying, she had a fall and hit her head, and because she is on warfarin, she had a huge subdural haematoma. Sorry to be graphic & technical. Many things happening for me & other members of the family. I am completely emotionally exhausted, but multiple cups of tea are keeping me going at the moment. Fasting & exercise are a bit out the window at the moment. I will write again when I've had a chance to catch up with myself. Love to all!

@jools7 doesn't sound good for your aunt, take it easy fasting can wait. Sending energy and hope your aunt is where she gets excellent care. Sounds like you are doing a family vigil. All the best.

@daydreamer21 you will catch up again take the pedal off and heal. Fasting can wait until you are better. @Jo05'it seems to time Out if you take too long at writing you post.

Hey @daydreamer21,

It can get us down to feel sick and the temporary weight gain can be confusing and disappointing. Sorry that you've been unwell, and hope you get better soon. Just remember how well you have done overall and keep going with whatever you've done to get where you are. 5 stone!!! wow. I probably need to loose more than 100 lbs, but I'm not going there to figure it out. I just know I'll be probably be onto a new laptop by the time I'm in maintenance. But I'm happy I'm getting the hang of 5:2 and keeping to the calorie count in my two months.
I hope you can be kind to yourself and know you are doing just fine.
We all can do it...I trust in us all.

@gillymaryAnd @Jo05 Hope you're both well and enjoying the weekend
We've got sunshine again today I've just returned from my weekly food shop having a quick cuppa
and off out for a walk
chose very wise and healthy for last nights meal had a farmhouse platter which was full plated salad with one slice ham, one slice beef and one roll when it arrived my plate was bigger than his!! with 2 x ham 3 x beef & 2 rolls so I immediately gave OH 1 xbeef slice & 1 roll in exchange for about 5 (chips/fries) couldn't even finish the rest plus only
one glass of red, a good feed day I think. Sue

ohhh sunshine sounds nice for over there @Sue.Q :clover: the walk sounds lovely as does the meal you enjoyed last night.

I find there are days when I crave something and there is nothing stopping me. Luckily it's gone this morning. I got take away Chinese king prawn sweet and sour and fried rice. i put it down as 1200 cals but I've no clue really. I ate half of it and threw the rest straight into freezer.
I've got to put my head down today with my studies, and hope I can done a few hours. The day here is picture perfect so I will go have a walk too.
Today was supposed to be a fast but I was nervous from last night journey I'd not be ready. So I've made it for tomorrow.
I actually enjoy the peace of a fast...so I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
have a lovely weekend when it arrives for you all five-some buddies. Hugs and Jools7 sending hugs, come back when you're ready.
Jo x
