Hello@Sue.Q @gillymary@daydreamer21@jools7

Thanks Buddy Sue for tracking me down. That was sweet of you.
How many 16:8's do you do a week? I did my first yesterday and it worked. Although I wasn't strict about stopping at 8pm as the cal count was still low.
I'm at work right now, feeling quite tired after a lovely evening celebrating a friends birthday at a resort by the ocean. we found $50 on our way in on the ground, :like: and soooo we enjoyed a platter for all as there was no way of working out who owned it.
Next two weeks I'm going to be racing to meet deadlines. I'm determined to try a fast within two days. But 16:8 is awesome. But I know I need to do a proper fast soon.

I hope the weekend went well for all. Sue, you're doing well. I think just stick to what you're doing and stay away from the scales until you're confident you're stable. I see Christmas derails many people. i hope Easter isn't as turbulent.

OK....back to it.
bye for now buddies

@Jo05 fasting is flexible with different options just had an indulgent weekend and fasted until 3pm so today for me will be 18:6 maybe. Need to get a couple more of those under my belt to repair this week if I can.

@Sue.Q just catch up on the other days, that is the beauty of it. Good fasting

@daydreamer21 how's keeping carbs low going

@gillymary , Hello thanks for reminding me that we can experiment with different formulas of fasting.
I'm starting my fast now for tomorrow. So I'm wanting it to go well after my last one collapsed.
wish me luck.
Best of luck Buddies.

Good luck @Jo05 With today's fast just take it one day at a time "nail " one good fast then forget about them until you're ready for the next one well that's what I did and feeling much better for making each fastday a success.
Most of my other days are 18:6 this suits me as I wake up not hungry then I save both the calories and carbs from my cereal breakfasts and more importantly reducing my carb intake as I've said before has had an enormous impact on certain health issues of mine and no way do I want to return to that.
Fasting today liquid only so far ( lunch time now) have just returned from a walk 5*5k today had my first coffee and now off for a shower + will pamper myself just to stretch into mid afternoon got plenty ironing to keep me occupied, then I'll prep the evening meal which for me is quorn spag bol with courgette spaghetti also doing a veg soup starter.

Thanks @Sue.Q, I heard your recommendation to nail a fast - and I have almost finished. wish me luck its 9pm...I'm almost there.
I hear you about the effect of carbs on your health. I so want that as well. The enjoyment of carbs pales in comparison to longevity and constant health threats.
I enjoyed cauliflower rice for the first time yesterday. I think I'm sold on it. It's not that interesting thrown in soup but great in fried rice. I wonder what else I can use it for.
I want you spag bol recipe Sue. I don't think i can do artificial chicken though :)
I wonder if 16:8 is possible to wake up to after a fast? Perhaps its too ambitious after a fast.
I'm rambling.

Buddies....thank you I think I'm almost in safe waters.

Calling fasting fivesome buddies.
@gillymary/@daydreamer21/@jools7/@Jo05
Sounding good for you Jo glad some 16:8 helping to reduce carb intake as for my quorn spag bol I used the complete bag of quorn mince lots of onion, mushrooms any leftover veggies and made my usual sauce cooked until ready then divided it into 4 bowls and froze 3 of them to use weekly
on my fastday.
Courgette/zucchini spaghetti my first attempt I sliced the courgette lengthways then sliced into strips fried in little butter
2nd attempt sliced lengthways with a veg peeler much easierand quicker then into long strips and then zapped in microwave both good I do prefer the frying but on f/days zap to save cals.
I know what you mean about the quorn chicken my first curry was a little "mushy" 2nd try better because I put in my chicken bits towards the end, my greatest success was a casserole where I blasted all sorts of veg carrots, turnip, cauliflower, broccoli, onion + anything leftover in fridge added chicken quorn at end this was my favourite regarding the chicken and having again tonight with celeriac mash.
Fasting today as I'm eating out yet again tomorrow off out for a walk now to kill a little time today I'm not feeling as hungry as I have the last 3 days thankfully.
How did the cheesecake go gillymary? and bet you enjoyed the catch-up with your friends.
Busy + stressed week Sammy hope you're coping well.

Sending hugs and positive vibes your way Jools
(((((((( :clover: ))))))) as you've become worryingly quiet and save some quiet time for yourself.

Hi ladies! I hope you are all keeping well. I apologise for my absence lately but life is totally manic at the moment. I was working lots of overtime last week and this week I have had parents evening and Friday is a school trip and I'm hoping to meet up with my good friend for dinner and lots of wine after the last couple of weeks. I fear my absence will continue for awhile though. Next week is going to be really busy with it being the last week before the holiday, I have leaving do's to attend and then next Saturday I'm heading off to Jamie's for two weeks for the Spring Break where I won't be around much. I'm sorry, maybe I should retire as a fasting buddy for awhile until life settles down. I basically only have enough time to see who is fasting and to through my name in the ring.
Fasting has been going well, and weight is slowly going down, but I realised I won't be here for the final Easter weigh in, so I won't know if I've met my target because Jamie's scales are rubbish. I intend to fast while there so I'm hoping I can keep it going down.

Anyway, I hope you are all well and doing well with your fasts. I'll try to pop in from time to time over the next month or so. Love to you all xxx

helloooooooo, fasting fivesomers, remember me????? @Sue.Q, @daydreamer21, @Jo05 and @gillymary! Goodness it seems so long since I last posted here (or anywhere else) although I've been managing the occasional skim of posts on my iphone while being driven around Sydney by my brothers. I've just come back from my Aunt's funeral, what can you say about funerals? It absolutely bucketed down for the actual burial, which was quite tough on my 87 year old remaining aunt Dorothy, who got wet and cold into the bargain. My poor Aunt Gloria who died, she was 90, she fell and got a severe head injury, but thank goodness she didn't linger more than a day. Tough times for her sister Dorothy, but it was really lovely to hang out with her, holding hands, chatting and providing the hanky when needed.

Now back in Melbourne, counting down to my trip in just under 4 weeks to Warsaw, then Singapore. Heaps to do before then!! I am mostly managing to fast okay, except when I was in Sydney, in fact I'm usually doing ADF, which I find actually quite easy when I'm in Melbourne, but my exercise has fallen in a heap - I looked at my bike tracker, and I haven't been out for nearly a month! I miss it badly!! I probably haven't done any HIT for nearly 3 weeks too, so I'll need to be gentle in a mo when I get back on.

Gillymary, I thought of you the other week, flew down over the Shoalhaven and Jervis Bay, very beautiful from the air, and just as gorgeous from the ground I think. How was your indulgent weekend, and did I see a cheesecake mentioned? I'm finding it really hard to catch up on the forum when I haven't been around for a while, so please forgive me if I'm a bit hazy on what everyone's been up to. Sammy, you sound really busy too, but in a good way? Jo, sounds like you're gettin' down & dirty with it, taking the rough with the smooth, and workin' the system, good for you!! Sue.Q, sounds like you've really got back into walking? Fantastic work everyone!

Speak again soon! love from me xxx

Hey @Sue.Q,

So good to hear your fasts are going well now. Mine seem to be working again now too. I'm going to try the zucchini pasta next fast day.
I really need to keep cauliflower in the house on non=fast days as i crave pasta and give in each time.
I'm wondering is the 16:8 cause any compensatory eating as I found i wanted a bigger dinner than i usually have after 16:8.

I just need to keep loads of veg in fridge I'm learning.

I'm quite surprised I can do 16:8, i thought i'd perish without breakfast etc.
Good luck and thanks for the recipes :)

I really support you @daydreamer21to have the break you need (and others as well). I'm going to keep trying to post in here because it can get pretty chaotic at times with the food. So I'm going to try and make time to talk in here.
Like you I will not be here at times. But do know I'm looking forward to knowing you and others more over the coming months. We do our best I think.
I want to know how you're going. So drop in when you can.
Best wishes
Jo

Hi @jools7, sending tender hugs and very grateful to hear from you. I'm sorry for your loss, and how sweet to hear your hand holding of your other Aunty. That stayed in my mind. HUGS!
I don't know how you're managing ADF but I'll be asking about it when you get back here. I imagine you must miss your exercise, I hope you two re-connect soon.
I've taken up exercise again (slowly), trying to tap into what i like best. I've found a beach that's long and has fewer people on it. It seems to call me back more than the other beaches. Rain is here for a few days - i hope i can hear it calling after the rain.

@gillymary hope your week is coming along ok. Thank you kindly for keeping track of me when I was all over the place. I appreciate it. I hope you have settled into a steady routine after your weekend.
warmly
Jo

Hi fasting buddies @gillymary@daydreamer21@jools7 And @Jo05
So sorry for your loss Jools good luck with your painful return to HIT + other exercise.
Sammy we all know how busy you are and it doesn't matter that you'll be absent for a while just pop in whenever you can we'll all be here for each other all at differing times and that's what counts in the long run.
How you doing gillymary? OK I hope all of you are so busy I'm therefore retired one + I sometimes don't make it daily to the forum, Just returned from my Indian meal all very nice and I didn't go overboard to much at all eaten quite conservatively really.
Failed my fast yesterday cravings is the only way to describe my evening done OK today but my top that I was going to wear felt once again very snug and as my walking is going very well my new plan for next week is back to 4:3 this gave me amazing results last year and I'm getting far to many normal days in between that's the reason for my decision go back to what used to work then see what happens my start will be Mon so from now until then I will eat with caution in preparation.

Oh yes, I know what you mean about having too many days between fasts, @sue.Q, I think when I do that my mind and my body get too far away from fasting routine. I'm actually finding ADF surprisingly easy. Now just needing some more exercise, I've only been doing my Pilates & my dance lessons. Glad you're getting some walking in @Jo05, and Sue. You're so lucky being able to walk along the beach, Jo, as I said before I'm very envious! And I don't think it matters, @daydreamer21, if you can't be here very often, just means we'll appreciate you when you're here. @Gillymary, hope things are going well for you too!

Hi everyone
Did a lovely long post to everyone and got interrupted and then too long a gap and got logged out. Drat

@Sue.Q I have been busy this week hence pretty absent from forum. Has been a nice week but I think all due to the bliss of such a lovely relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Good for the soul :like: Back to reality and our dog Maxie in a blue and got savaged so was off to the vet. Anaesthetic, surgery 3 drains home now and will have to do lots of treatment. Fingers crossed he will heal fast and well

@daydreamer21 no pressure to post here, go off and have that busy life, sounds like some good fun ahead for you after work sorted...enjoy

@Jo05 hope you get your fasting mojo, it is a wonderful thing when it happens. So grasp it. As I am looking for mine again. Did a good fast until now but it's been such a day a weak spritzer is in order.

@jools7 wonderful that you were there with both of your elderly family members as well as the guys. It is a time when we have to slow down and do the simple things which mean so much. You will catch up am sure when you settle back into your routines
