Join me in celebrating today!! OH and I were married 38 years ago tonight at the home of a friend who inveigled a local JP to come to her house to marry us. He very bravely took on a widow with a 10 year-old and a 7 year-old--and his teen girls lived with us, too. He's very kind and generous and puts up with me and my ways so well. After all this time we still laugh and joke around a lot--I love it when I can say something (or maybe just bat my eyes or waggle my eyebrows) that makes him burst out in a wonderful peal of laughter.
The old chemistry (so apropos--he's a chemist [not in the pharmacist sense]) is still there. Thank you HRT and Viagra!!
Needed to share my happiness today--Best wishes to all for a happy holiday

What an uplifting post @marybeth.Many congratulations to you and your lovely husband!
Thanks to you all for celebrating with me!!
@nursebean No, it wasn't a surprise. We had thought we'd just go to the Town Hall and have a Justice of the Peace marry us, but when I asked my friend to be my witness, she asked the JP to come to her house. She had a little influence seeing as she was a County legislator at the time. It was much more romantic having a little evening party with a dinner cooked by my friend--she supplied a wedding cake (chocolate mousse filling) from the nearby Culinary Institute of America (I think the pastry professor was a neighbor of hers). Such happy memories.
We are delaying our little celebration til Wednesday when we'll try lunch at a new culinary center that just opened up 5 minutes walk from our place. http://coltivareithaca.com/ We had dinner there last week and it was wonderful.

Congratulations, @Marybeth
OK, so I really am looking forward the end of the Holidays. Yes, you read right. I barely slept, spent half the night the head over the toilets instead, OH is working all through the holidays and my mum.... well, she is who she is, isn't she ?
Putting on some Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra Christmas songs to soothe the mood
