I'm just wondering whether to have a boiled egg or a thin with peanut butter. I've only got 125 calories left now :(
@nursebean i think the thin with peanut butter wd be more of a treat..
Mind,the thin is 100 cals so you need to go very easy on the PB xx

Morning everyone. Well the year has started not in a great way and added to my misery is the knowledge that I have gained 18lb's this year. I think I have decided that fasting is not for me as I obviously can't control my intake on non fast days. I'm probably more obsessed with food and diets than I was before I started this and I'm worried that this might be come more serious. Not happy.

@rawkaren
Oh dear Karen, I hope that this is not the case, how about eating what you want when you want for a while. A food holiday even.

Oh dear @rawkaren, I feel for you, I really do. I'm sure that stress is the root of all evil when it comes to weight gain and you have certainly been through the mill this year. When very stressed you are probably right not to fast or at least to fast in only a gentle way as you don't need to add more stress to your body. I would suggest you try the Amanda Salis approach for dealing with a famine reaction. Don't worry about trying to lose weight during this stressful time, when your stress levels fall, so will you weight. I would hazard a guess that your focus on foods and dieting is an attempt by your brain to get a sense of control into a life that is very stressful and, of course, what you put in your mouth is something you can control. I am sure that this too will resolve as your stress levels reduce. Have you tried mindfulness at all? I think that it or similar meditation techniques might help.

Sending virtual hugs :heart: :heart: :heart:
{hugs} @rawkaren, take heart, it's been feeding syndrome time and we've all enjoyed Xmas goodies.
Your age will also have a bearing on whatever you do. Believe me. I woke up one age-50's morning with a spare tyre girding my waist, right out of the blue.
Perhaps time for a deep breath and lots of fresh veggies and relax your diet-thinking mode for a month.
All shall be well m'dear :0)

Haha, beaten to the draw by Caro!
Karen, as others have said you have been under tremendous pressure this year so please don't be so hard on yourself. Give yourself permission to enjoy your food without guilt for a while and try and relax a bit more about your eating habits. You seem to eat 'clean' any way so let your body tell you what it needs without stressing about fasting or counting calories. Big hugs and good luck!
