The weather is playing havoc with my goals as well. Hoping when daylight savings ends I can squeeze some steps in the early morning light.

Tracie, it's great you have your hubby as a motivator...a little friendly competition can often be just the ticket.
My O My......I need to get back to work, I've fallen way way way down the leaderboard. Great to see so many new faces though. What a great achievement everyone.
I'm having problems with syncing my fitbit one. I haven't been able to sync with the computer for a couple of days and now I'm having problems with the mobile app syncing up. Any ideas on what I can try?
I have been using my Fitbit for the last 11 days and I love it.
My first target is 10,000 steps each day and I my total was over 70,000 for the last week:)
I work on Mon,Tues and Wed and I can reach 10,000 when I finish my shift at work without any extra effort, but on the other days it is much harder, but my fitbit keeps me very focused :)
I've now got an entire month of fitbit days, yay! I've only got a couple of days where I didn't meet my target of 12000 steps - and one of them was last week when I would have been well over, because was at a water park, running around all day, but without my flex on (I know it's shower/rain proof, but didn't want to risk it getting damaged with full dunkings.) It would have been great to see just how much distance we did cover too.
Hello. First time I have popped I here. Please can I have some advice? I'm thinking of getting a fitbit, but also considering a jawbone UP. I realise you will all tell me to get the fitbit, but can anyone tell me the difference and why you are all such fans? Sorry if you have discussed it before, but I can't find anything.
@rawkaren, I decided on a Fitbit as I didn't want to wear a wrist band all the time, and so Fitbit was a better choice for me. But I'm sure I also read, but now cannot find, that Jawbone Up has a tendency to record typing as steps, and I'm on the computer alot for work.
On the plus side Jawbone has an idle alert, so that when you've been sitting at a desk for a while, it vibrates to remind you to move around for a bit, and that would have been really useful.
I love my Fitbit One, and would happily recommend it to anyone (and I don't say that about all my purchases...) but would say get the one you like, but just get it soon! It's made me do extra steps nearly every day I've had it!

Thank you @annurca I would be very 'fit' then if I bought a jawbone seeing as I type alot!   Very helpful, thank you.
Hi everyone. I have a Jawbone Up and love it  . I credit it with keeping me on track and being successful with the 5:2 WOL. The food, activity and sleep trackers are great. I track my calories every day. I can use the trend feature to show me clearly why I have lost (or not) each week by adding up the difference between calories consumed and calories burned each day.
The idle alert is great although it makes me jump when I am in a long meeting.
I am not sure about the typing giving false activity but I don't type that much in my job.
The Up has to be synced manually by plugging the band into my iPhone but I don't mind that as I am there using the app to look at data, enter food etc. It also means it has a longer charge life (8-10 days) than the FitBit Flex which syncs wirelessly.

I did a lot of online research between the FitBit Flex and the Up bands before buying but ultimately it came down to this:
the Up was in stock, the Flex was sold out. :geek: All the reviews suggested to me they were both good so I am not sorry.
Hope this is helpful

Very helpful Judith, thank you. And welcome :like: :clover:
Betsy - have you tried the fitbit boards about your problem?

Rawkaren - I decided on the one as I'm not a fan of jewelry of any kind and I thought the bracelet would annoy me. I tuck the One in my bra each morning, or it can go in a pocket or on a waistband. The one tracks steps, floors, miles, and there's a flower that grows depending on how active you are recently. It's really short when I wake up, for example, but if I take the dog on a nice long walk with hills, the flower is really tall. I also taught it to call me "Goddess" :-D And it does calories burned today, including your basal metabolic rate (i.e. calories for breathing).

Thanks Tracie, I did look through the fitbit boards but nothing really useful, so I did what I always do when frustrated by computer .. I restarted it and I sync now. lol
@rawkaren
Hiya I have a one, got a second hand bargain on ebay for £43 I think. Anyway. Apparently the flex or one get most thumbs up as I discovered when researching in the summer when I got mine. Also you can join the 5.2 fitbit group which many of us are members of. The one has a little black mesh wristband to put it in during the night to monitor your sleep if you want, it has a very long charge life and sends you little messages on its screen and via the app. The wristband ones are pretty look techy if you like that sort of thing but there have been band issues reported and typing/hand movement probs too, also the fitbit site will sync with other devices like my fitness pal, which in turn syncs with C25K and other running apps. I love mine to bits and when I leave the house now I go "keys, bag, phone fitbit" And tap my bra to make sure it is there. And I have nothing to say about the others as have been very happy with mine. Hope this helps.
