Jeniben-the sleep logging actually just measures your movement during the period between the start and stop sleep cycle. One of the reasons I wear my fitbit at night is to make sure I get credit for those steps on trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night:) The floors on the week-end were probably caused by some inclines...the fitbit has an altimeter built in to capture floors.

Zingbing-need to think of your fitbit as though it was a diamond ring...take it everywhere with you:)

Franglaise-to change goals-on your dashboard view, tap on the bottom of the tile you want to change goals, select the left bottom image (looks like a gear), it should flip the tile around for you to set your goals...that's how it works on an ipad and computer, not sure how to do it on a phone.

Sadly, I have to report I barely made 5000 steps today. Probably the first day not to reach 10,000 for a couple of months. Life and work just got in the way so I will have to work extra hard to get my steps in this week.

Okay, those of you without a picture need to add something...liven up the leader board a little bit:)

Not only does the fitbit register steps on bumpy roads, riding lawnmowers are huge rackets. My SIL gets 3000 steps...oh well, I know I earn my steps the hard way.
Thanks GoLinda but you wouldnt believe it but I lost my diamond wedding ring last year, I'm sure our German Shepherd puppy at the time had something to do with it, have you seen the movie Marley and Me well that was my husband hosing dog poo to try and find it.

Also after having children my brain has never been the same.

I'm with you GoLinda I have alot of catching up to do, best of luck.
I just got a fitbit for our anniversary last night! I'm so excited. I have some questions but I think I'll answer most on my own. I'm still so curious on how it works!
Yesterday, on our day at the beach I ended up getting a new badge. My first ever 25,000 steps day. I was really disappointed with the climbs I got on the dunes, though. One of them was a sand mountain...seriously, it had to be equivalent to 6-8 flights of stairs and all I got was 2!!! Every step was like sinking in quicksand and fighting to climb all the way. I figure it all balances out in the end. I know I have gotten credited for stairs I never actually climbed.
GoLinda. I have been trying to add a profile pic but its not happening.managed to add an avatar on here, that was new to me too. How did I get to 9th on activity haven't had it a week yet!

Profile pic now uploaded.
It is an average of just the days you have logged so far. Ours is averaging over the whole week or whole month depending on which you look at. I wonder why it hasn't update in like 9 hours. That is weird because it usually changes every couple of hours.

ETA: What I mean is if you have had it 2 days, your stats have averaged equivalent to 9th place for those two days. It is comparing your 2 day average to our 7 day average.
43tweaker well done on the 25,000. That's fantastic.

I had a very busy day too yesterday and managed to clock 20,000 by the end of the day. Lots of walking and running up hills in the park with my daughter and husband who has just got his nike fuelband and is really motivated to be active too.

Franglaise (Susan) I change my goals on my iPhone not on the comp so not sure where you want to change yours, but on the app, I slide my finger across the relevant section and it has a space for you to adjust the goal. You can change it back by doing the same too. Does anyone know how to go it on the online dashboard?

I must have deleted my weekly fitbit report this week, but will post next week. My week also starts on Sunday. Einatlb your stats look really impressive :)

I'm glad I've been so active because my eating these past few days has been pants! I got to Maintenence weight and then went mad. Coupled with going to the seaside yesterday and eating a mammoth portion of fish and chips. It's not looking good.

I'm back to a liquid fast day today to try and get myself feeling better. I feel bloated and yucky this morning.

Golinda I am sure you will make up your steps during the week. Hope everyone has a good day today :)
Morning Fitbitters,

I'm having a much more active day today. more steps already than in the whole of yesterday

Umleila 20,000 steps is a good day's work and in answer to your question about editting goals on the dashboard - it gives you an edit option on the activity bar itself (I use the old version dashboard, don't know if it is different on the Beta version)

Somewhere along the way I must have unticked something as I no longer get the weekly report (last one was 19th June), any ideas?

Just a thought - maybe due to the sand taking the impact of your steps with your feet sinking in some were not reporting hence the lessor reading? Just an idea...?
Just watched the Horizon program, and I'm even more keen to get a fitbit now. But can't decide which one ;I would like to monitor my sleep, which suggests I should get the One or the Flex, but I keep reading that the One measures activities that haven't happened due to body movements, so I'm not sure. And obviously the zip is cheaper (and it comes in pink !)

Any opinions please?
All trackers will measure movements from your body that's just the nature of how they work.

In saying that some will be worse in certain situations than others. The reason I got the one over the flex was for stair counting but also because due to the flex being on your wrist it can count typing as steps. Having a job that involves mainly typing all day that wasnt going to work out for me.

Read some reviews on the different types and ask questions on here and find a solution that will work the best for your plan of use :-)
Just watched horizon on iplayer. Wow wasn't it great. So for the record, I am more than pleased with my fitbit one. Had it nearly a week. even though i am a very regular exerciser, I wasn't losing weight. So now i am very interested in what goes in versus what i burn. Was a bit concerned about the stool samples in the freezer! Yuk. Mind you having worked in a path lab for 15 yrs I was used to playing around with bodily fluids, solids and anything else the vets sent in for analysis.
Hi all. I have a confession to make. On Friday I did a huge amount of walking and got to over 20,000 steps - a personal record. But I guess I also did a huge amount of partying (it was my last day of work and I went to dinner with some friends) - I lost my fitbit somewhere between the ladies' room of the restaurant (where I checked it and noticed I'd done over 20,000 steps) and getting home!

After retracing my steps on Saturday, going back to the restaurant and having had no luck I have done something very naughty and ordered another one. I am waiting for an opportune moment to sneak out of the house to pick it up from Waitrose (didn't want it arriving in the post and my husband getting it from the postman!). I can't be without it on our holiday in Cornwall starting Friday where I need it to keep my activity levels up (especially as I have 85% decided I won't be fasting).

Can't wait to get it set up again and join you all again...
Hi mummybunny
I wondered where you had got to! good luck sneaking down to Waitrose
Glad you've ordered a new one mummybunny :) I would have to do the same too. I would be lost without mine now.

Hopefully you'll be up and stepping back with us soon.
