I got the answer to my question - you set up your new device but on your existing account, and replace the old device with the new one. It's pretty easy and all the data I'd synced before is still there.

I don't think I'll be able to be a really active member of the group till I get an iPhone because right now I can't sync every day - I can only sync to my laptop and I don't turn it on every day. My iPad is too old to sync to it (which is one thing I find quite annoying). Anyway, I expect by the end of the month I'll be able to sync every day and throw down the gauntlet to y'all. In the meantime it will be good to know myself how many steps I'm doing and how many calories I'm burning.
Hey, mummybunny. My tablet is also too old which is a pain. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab and most of them work; but of course not mine. I try to remember to turn on my laptop every night after I get all my steps in. It is the only thing I really ever use my laptop for now that I have a keyboard for my tablet.
I would turn mine on just to sync but it really takes about 15-20 minutes (on a good day) to fire up and just get the internet going. It's painful. One reason to get an iPhone 5 ;-)
Busy busy busy with work and not been able to get out walking enough :-( gonna be like this till the end of the month sadly.

At least I still have my fast days and can still see the weight dropping
Work, work, work here too! Hoping th great weather holds on until the weekend so I can get a few long walks in...
Hello, I am getting a fitbit one for my birthday but it's not until the end of September! Is "fitbit one" the best one to have? It looks to me like its the all singing and dancing one - plus I type all day too, so the band one sounds like a bad idea.

Reading about people losing weight in 3 weeks doing 10000 steps a day is a good motivator, maybe I will just have to get out my basic pedometer in the meantime!
Good morning Fitbitters,
I noticed an email from the FitBit group from Einat replying to someone who had joined the group and isn't part of this forum. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but if we get a lot of non 5:2 people joining it would reduce the usefulness of the group for me.
How does anyone else feel about this? (I guess now this is what the whole invite only conversation last week was about)
Sian I agree with you, unless it will make them join the 5:2 forum and wol. , but yes having too many people in the group who are not part of the forum/ diet is not desired.last night I went to sleep early after a fast day and over 18 k steps then I got a call from the hospital( was on call) and had to go so managed again over 19k steps and additional 7 floors
could that joiner have been me?
i have a different login for fitbit - think its just Jeni and my pic is different too

43tweaker - i have the Galaxy Tab to and it wont sync which is annoying and i am not due a phone upgrade till Decemeber - just have to fire up the ancient lappy every nite which defeats the object of having a Tab - i try to do this when i get in from work after the majority of my steps are done

jeniben
Whooo hooo, I got my Fitbit this morning and it says I've done 3188 steps so far!

My question is, please; what/where's the forum you're talking about and can anyone (even a fitbit newbie like me) join in?

I can be a very self competitive person, when motivated.
I have less than a 2kg bag of sugar between me and a healthy BMI!

Thanks for everyone's help so far - you're all brilliant
Hi Penny,

Here is the link, and its not you the Search groups function on FitBit is notoriously bad http://www.fitbit.com/group/22B49B
Oh and in answer to the other part of your post, once you are in the group, you can compare your activity levels against the rest of the group
Thanks again Sian! I may as well join, now.

I will be a very lowly member, I think!
Pennyforthem the group is open to anyone and you're more than welcome to join :)

It's here...

I know one person objected to the group being closed because they did not want to send their email to me via pm. I understand even though I have no interest in your emails other than for the forum.

I'm busy at the mo packing up our UK stuff and getting ready to travel to Saudi. I still haven't found out about the poll. I guess people who have already joined will stay members anyway, so I could just close the group for a while and make it invite only?

Your thoughts please :)

Today and yesterday I made an effort to do an hour actives minutes first thing in the morning. Very boring because my daughter was asleep in bed and I was jogging on the spot next to her listening to the radio, but for me one hour active equals 10,000 steps and five miles :)

I've only got my floors goal to work on now.

Pennyforthem you've made a great start :)
According to the Fedex tracker, my fitbit one should arrive tomorrow! I'm so excited, everytime I have a bit of walking to do I'm disappointed I'm not getting my steps counted and logged. lol :)
