Good morning to you all. Welcome Rocky and good luck with your journey. It's nice to see our fit bit group getting bigger. Umleilla did you leave already? I'm getting ready for my 3 miles run 1 mile walk. The weather is still really nice here  which is very unusual for August. Wish you all a great day with many steps and floors and lots of calories burned.
Thanks to everyone who has renamed themselves on the Fitbit group [/quote]

Just about to rename myself. yes its nice to see more and more people.
Einatlb we leave manchester on Wednesday and fly back from London on Thursday. It is next week but I still work my weeks around Saudi ones!

Just wondering if you, SianS and other runners run everyday or if you have rest days in between? Your stats look pretty consistent.

I started jogging ish since I got the one because as I mentioned before, it seemed harder to get active minutes. I'm not sure I can do it everyday though. My body feels like it needs a break, so today I'm going to aim to get my steps but in a leisurely fashion.

I'm interested to hear what everyone else does :)
Hi Umleila,

I try and run on 2 weekdays and then I do a parkrun on a saturday morning. On other days I try and do 30 mins on a Cross Trainer, I usually have Sunday off.

I started running in April and the people on the "Are there any runners here" thread?" have been really great. Franglaise who is at the top of our leaderboard runs every day as I recall. My advice is to listen to your body, (though what do I know?)
Thank you for welcoming me to this group!

So far, I'm on day three (feed) of my 5:2. Not so bad so far, since I'm eating now & feeling thin already with the upcoming fast this weekend.

I have also set up my support system. This forum group is part of that. And so is my wife.

And so is my Fitbit, with an additional tracker: Misfit Shine.

Two trackers that complement each other. Think of the Fitbit as left brain, and the Shine as the right brain.

I will also use my Mio Alpha HRM (heart rate monitor).

And my iPad for reading books. With all the extra time, I need to stay busy mentally and physically.

Hoping to contribute here and support everyone else as well.
Hi rockyromero and welcome to 5:2. another part of your support network should be the progress tracker that moogie has devised (see grey bar at the top of page). It's excellent and automatically calculates your BMI.

Having been on this way of eating (WOE) since January, I am now becoming much more interested in activity and have joined the fitbit forum, where I see you're a member too.

Good luck with this WOE!
Minumonline wrote: Just watched the Horizon program, and I'm even more keen to get a fitbit now. But can't decide which one ;I would like to monitor my sleep, which suggests I should get the One or the Flex, but I keep reading that the One measures activities that haven't happened due to body movements, so I'm not sure. And obviously the zip is cheaper (and it comes in pink !)

Any opinions please?

I have a Fitbit One, so I am biased.

I can do stairs, place it on my neck chain, and not have to worry about putting it on my wrist.

Hopefully, this helps you decide.
@Minumonline, I just got the Fitbit One yesterday, in burgundy  It was actually cheaper than the black.
Umleilla, my workout routine has evolved and continues to do so. For years I've been dedicated to my elliptical but always wanted to run. Started running in December of last year but probably progressed too fast and got an injury to my iliotibial band that presented itself with a really annoying lateral knee pain. So had to stop running and got some physical therapy. Started again in March and this time progressed more slowly at first I only ran 3 times a week and I increased the distances gradually and the rest of the week continued on my elliptical. Now I got to a stage that 3 times a week I run 3 and walk one mile, twice I do 1.5 m running 15 min elliptical and some walking+ weight raining, 1 day of 2 m run and 15 min elliptical. On Sunday no running but I try to walk outside. It is very important to do things gradually and definitely listen to your body  i hope this helps
Perfect weekend to start my fast with a Chicago Air & Water show for attraction:

This should keep my mind & attention outside of myself?
Sounds great. Good luck Rocky
Good morning Fitbitters,

Saturday morning so 5km parkrun for me, I think I got a reasonable time under 30 mins, not sure if it was a personal best, it certainly was very warm.
A good start to my steps count
Oh My Life... I think I'm addicted to my Fitbit and 5.2. keep checking where I am ranked (7th) How on earth did I do that... Next week I will plummet as have to take my daughter for plastic surgery on a scar on her leg, the we're heading up north to see my mum in Lancashire for a few days before we have to go back to school.
It is addictive I agree. Good luck with the surgery. I would suggest jogging in place while waiting for her to come out but I think some people might think it is a bit strange  so far had a good day. It is 1:30 pm and I managed over 14k steps. I ran and did some cross training in the morning as well as weight lifting( which unfortunately doesn't count) then walked to the grocery store. In an hour we have guests for BBQ in our back yard. Need to make a salad soon. Everything else is ready.
I've been working :curse:
And tomorrow.
And Monday, Tuesday, Weds, Thurs and Fri.
But at least I'll get the chance (I hope) to get on that treadmill and build up that fitness!
Then it's holibobs!
