Many thanks for that. Got side tracked and then forgot to add link.
It's a bit pricey but I like his voice.

Have nine mile run tomorrow morning. My longest ever, and it will carry me into a different league ready for my half.
Can't believe that I do 5km as an easy run these days in between the longer 10km training runs.

@carieoates How did it go? Well done on getting the mileage up. I did a longer run Wednesday, but my phone lost me, so I'm not sure how far I did.

I'm doing an Aquathlon (800m swim, 10k run) on Monday. A swim of that distance isn't a problem for me, but it will be interesting going straight into the run after. It's a small group, so it's quite possible that I could come last.

@Egduf, it was hard, as I'm not used to hills and I've picked up an ankle pain. 14.2 km in 1.51 hrs 7.50/km average pace. It was a beautiful place and I will be returning to conquer it again. But not for a while. I'm now tapering and hoping the ankle doesn't get worse. I'm also thinking that I'm a lone runner(have no one to moan to) and I like 5km. So will be concentrating on reducing my 5km time next.
Good luck on Monday.

My jogging partner has entered us in a 10k race at the end of the month. It will be my first ever race. Not too intimidated as we have agreed that we will shuffle around together, very likely at the back. I have already run the route on my own, but possibly not in the right direction, so then again I may not have. What is really going to be strange is running with a lot of people. We go out together, or we go out on our own.

Hi @Barbarita I'm preparing for my first 10k too - though its going to take a while to get there. I took last week off to concentrate on weight loss (amazingly, this worked!) 7k, or maybe my first ever 8k run, tonight after work. Looking to do a 10k in Oct, though the group I run with can't quite decide on which run to do (I'm keeping v. quiet here as each time they put off a decision I get longer to prepare!)

Thanks @carieoates, hope the ankle holds together, it's worth easing off a bit rather than risking further injury.

The Aquathlon was really hard, I swam faster than I'd wanted to in the pool and the route was very muddy and hilly. I came last for the challenge distance, but I'm not that bothered as it was a small field (19) and most of the others were triathlon club members. My wife did the short distance as well, and while we can't say that either of us enjoyed it, we are satisfied to have finished. The BBQ after was nice as well!

I have a half marathon this Sunday, but not as worried after that as it's really flat (Maidenhead).

Good luck with the training :like:

Just ran 8k for the first time ever! Feeling v delighted - esp as it used up over 600 calories - but I think I'd better stick to 8k again next week - not entirely sure I've got 9k in me, let alone 10k!

Been to see my physio and I've got a minor primary sprain of my ankle ligaments so I'm off to Amazon to get some of that magic tape. Can't wait to try it out, have had application instruction and am not to go too far now. Dragged the hubby out in the rain on Sunday he kept up with me for 4.2 k. I think it was. Then he went on the treadmill last night and pulled up quick because of his Achilles this is great stuff this running lark.

Well Done all of you while my back was turned (been in Scotland getting wet on big hills with my elder son)!
I did not get to run yesterday but the three previous local parkruns were all 23:45 - hard to believe identical to half a second but with different strategies like start fast, or slow, or go steady the whole way. On the last one aforementioned son beat me for the first time, by 2 seconds. About time, he has no excuse apart from laziness...
Mrs Pete has found a nice 10k for the end of September, around Draycote water, which we might go for - our longest race for several years. Should be mainly flat, so I expect it will be wet and windy to make up for it!

Hello everyone. I use Galloway's intervals for anything over 5k. I did 8.5k this morning with an average pace of 6.53k/min using an interval of 60:30. Building up to my October half marathon on the Norfolk Coastal Path. I use a Gymboss for the intervals as it is much easier to hear than my Garmin and is more versatile. Through the school summer hols I've been running 3x a week and swimming 2.5k x3 per week, no fasting, watching carbs and sugar and I've put weight on! My husband is only doing the swimming and he is loosing weight fast!

Hi everyone, so glad to see you are all well and running. ☺
I am still plugging away at Parkrun, did number 33 yesterday, my achilles is much better now and I am hoping to start picking up the pace soon. My last few runs have been around the 27 minute mark still some way off that elusive 25 minutes.
Weight wise I drifted a bit but pulled myself towards myself and am back to a reasonable level, still 5kg over my target though. ☺
Can't believe we have been in England for over a year already.

Working towards my first 10k seems to be doing wonders for my Parkrun time - though it has to be admitted the reason is I'm walking less of it! My best Parkrun time for 2015 has dropped by 56 seconds since the end of June. I'm not zippy - but the impact of preparing for the 10k is extraordinary - and hugely motivating.

I entered a HM last minute on Thursday and did it this morning (St Malo - Cancale), I have been doing mostly trail races in the summer and not much speed work so didn't expect much, but was very happy to do 1H44 on a hilly course and qualify for the French national HM finals. 3rd out of 626 women racing so not too bad for a nearly 50yr old!
Next race in 3 weeks, 26km trail race.
I weigh 3kgs more than I did this time last year, but I run around 50 miles a week so I think some (a lot??) of that is muscle. Body fat is lower. I only fast one day a week at most, sometimes 16:8 but it hasn't adversely effected my speed so that's good. I hope your injury gets better soon Carrie, how was your HM Egduf?
Good luck with your 10k Pete!
