I don't know, this tent seems to be filling up with people who aren't following an eating window...making the place untidy and leaving their breakfast cereal bowls unwashed in corners, grumble grumble, mutter mutter...away with you and your subversive breakfast cereals...
Ha ha you sound like me @carorees
Where did all of this dirty washing come from?
Who didn't replace the loo roll?
Where have the mugs gone? :curse:
@caroreesCan I please camp here? Its taken me all weekend to read this thread.
I 5:2 Mondays and Thursdays and 16:8 ,Tuesday,Wednesday and Fridays.
On the weekends I wey hey. I am one of the collective plateau members @Debs so you can count me in . @Sue.Q , you and I seem to be on similar journeys. Good consistent weight loss last year then the last 10-12 weeks not much happening. Like you last week I went back to really good clean 500 fast days. Still no result but I don't feel discouraged as this is the way I eat now. I'm positive it will happen for us. Good luck everyone! Now I've got my fast days cleaned up I'm really going to listen to my body on my 3 non fast week days because if I really wait till I need food its usually more like 2-3 pm which would make it a 19:5 eating window. Any comments or suggestions most welcome.

 Welcome @Julianna Yes the same journey and unfortunately the same long plateau, for me I was expecting this stalling at some point but I also "cleaned" up my fastdays about 3 weeks ago and still no change!!!
Its a mystery and to so very many of us members,
for me just one small tiny loss each week would help so very much with the motivation because for me my weightloss has provided me with the motivation to
carry onwards this us so frustrsting I'm sure you'll
agree so we'll keep one another company. Sue
Hi everyone,

I've decided to join you in the eating window tent, I've dabbled in 16/8 before but just a day here and there, now I'm going to try a couple of weeks of regular 16/8 and see how it suits me.
My main motivation is that I sleep so badly on fast days, so I'm hoping an eating window will allow me to maintain or lose a little bit more weight and I'll sleep better.
The only thing I don't get, should I do this every day or just some days?
Hi Nicky

That's why I changed to 16:8. I still don't sleep especially well but it is better than before I started 5:2 and certainly I don't have two sleepless nights a week to contend with.

As to how often to do it, I think at least 5 days. I try to mix things up a bit and so have 16 hours fasting almost every day but I have a couple of longer fasts (20 hours probably) per week which I feel really helps to keep my appetite in check. I think the best way to handle things is to reduce your eating window if you're not losing weight or if you've had an indulgent weekend. So use the eating window to control intake.

Let me know how you get on.
It was such a lovely day today and I spent a lot of time in the garden...so it was really easy to get to 2pm not eating! Window open now and in goes an egg.
@Nicky_94 I try and do at least 16:8 every day, but that's because I am just not as hungry as I used to be.
I hope you'll find it helps the weight loss.
Thanks you two!

So the plan is to do 16/8 at least 5 days a week, with a longer fast or two but not keeping to 500 cals.

Yesterday my husband brought some croissants home, I think for the first time in his entire life, so my plans were thwarted, I cannot believe how bad his timing is. This morning I displayed great willpower when I washed the nutella from my daughter's breakfast off of my finger instead of licking it off, LOL, so am on target for 16/8.

Isn't it amazing how husbands do that?! But don't expect him to stop offering you breakfast even after several months: mine asked me if I wanted porridge for breakfast yesterday morning...I've only been skipping breakfast since last July, of course I couldn't expect him to remember after such a short time *rolls eyes*!
I have trained my OH to bring home flowers now rather than 'treats'. It has only taken me forty two years....ho hum! Although he can have relapses and bring home both!!! Poor thing.
Ha ha...they're damned if they do and damned if they don't! We feel miffed if they never remember to bring treats and then when they do we complain that they're the wrong sort of treats...
Hello everybody

I seem to manage 16:8 every day, but I am struggling with 5:2 at the moment.

I am fine with liquids - coffee, bonox, tea, water until about 1.00-2.00pm, that is when I start to crave something - and I usually end up having fruit, which then sets me off to more eating - a sandwich, etc. But it seems to me any food touching my lips sets the craving for more food!

My weight is currently stable but I am not losing at all on 16/8, but as it's all I can do at the moment, it will have to suffice.

Does anybody else have this problem?

much appreciate your advice and help.

cheers
Maggie
Maggie, have you considered ADF? You may find it less angst ridden than 16/8. I do 16/8 every day and have done so for over a year now but I couldn't do it if I felt like you, it has to be personally do-able, not an endurance test. There must be a way for you that is easier and suits your personality and for me,this is one of the strengths of IF, so many variations to try. Good luck

Ballerina x
thanks @Ballerina - I feel fine doing the 16/8 but that is all I can seem to manage, not the 5:2 Fast.

The two 5:2 Fast days always only seem to come out like my other 16/8 days, in other words, I don't seem to be able to complete them and stay within the 500cals.

cheers Maggie
