How come dry bread can smell and taste so good?
Hardly any bread in my days now for nearly a year and don't actually miss it BUT I've just had to do my OH TOAST!!!! smelling oh so wonderful
No I'm not caving in especially as it was white bread.
1pm here @Debs No sugar yet today  I've decided if I'm going to blow carbs I'd prefer wine carbs.
Looking forward to my chicken now I'm smelling food.
:clover: :clover: :clover:
Sue.Q, you'd better teach OH how to use the toaster!! And then step well away from the kitchen!
I have no intention of giving up my good quality bread, or wine carbs come to think of it. The thought of food at the moment horrifies me, I just want something refreshing and cold.

I'll try and fast for most of the day tomorrow and hope that things start to move. Whether I go for protein remains to be seen yet, will see how I go.
Enjoy your chicken!
Don't forget ladies that white wine and champers are lower carb than red.
Debs, do I understand correctly that you have a problem with constipation? If so, try a combination of Boots laxatives and Colax Aloe Vera Colon Cleanser. They saved me when I did the attack twice a week.
How you doing @Debs?
Day 3 finished for me and all is well only evening meal again bought today's carbs under 20 grams and actually finding it easy I know I won't be able to keep this up and I've no idea how long to go for but the 4 days was always on and if nothing else come of this I admit I've learned a few lessons and yes made even more changes so my normal days will change because of this therefore one way or another some good has come out if this trial of
our "new plan". :clover: :clover:
What lessons have you learned @Sue.Q and what will you change now?
Hi @julianna Well as I was trying to reduce my carbs and thought quite successful but never actually counted while trying this "new plan" with Debs I checked a few items on Friday night namely fruits on non fast days I've been eating
3 pieces a day but still reduced massively over the last year and was more than happy with the results, BUT sugar I've never been able to stop in my tea + coffee at all and when I actually looked how many carb well I was well over the 20g for Friday on just that and may have ruined the trial
big lesson learned and have managed without any today which in itself is a minor miracle for me OK I've only had 3 drinks that's the problem I give up hot drinks before sugar but really chuffed with myself for today and intend to
repeat tomorrow. :clover:
Hi there, good to see you have picked up some new information Sue.Q, especially the sugary fruit, as much as I love it, especially figs etc!
There is hidden sugar everywhere isn't there?!
Took laxatives last night, so I shall see how I 'go' today!!! Especially as te weight crept up again, do doubt as a result of all that.
Having a window today with some frozen raspberries and natural yoghurt and chia later, looking forward to it!

Update on today. Still nothing happening! I had my fruit and yoghurt at 3pm and then beef satay for dinner with two mini roast potatoes and some weird concoction which was supposed to be Szechuan aubergine. No heat but never mind. I wish I knew what was going wrong
Spinning after a 16 hour fast is not something I will be doing again anytime soon. Definitely breaking my fast with a piece of fruit before spinning from now on. It was an interesting experiment though :)
My original (haha) plan was to alternate 500 cal fasts with 16:8 until the half-marathon in mid-April. It was going pretty well for weight loss (I've just had a little time off for a trip to Tokyo to see the cherry blossoms), and seemed pretty do-able. But I've noticed I feel a bit depleted in the morning on the 16:8 days (post fast). I'm thinking maybe a miso soup to perk me up. I'm worried it's affecting my work :-(

I definitely want to try 16:8 after a non-fast day. I'm sure it will feel different. I'm really liking the idea of it as a way to maintain. I would have to be very mindful (like most people, I can cram a lot into a 8 hour window!!), but it might be a nice break from fasting.

Just thinking out loud here.
I'm interested that fasting is affecting your work, I have found myself not being so brain fogged when fasting which is a plus given how much is going on.
I can do a 16:8 easily after a fast but this strategy doesn't seem to be working either!
I'm fine on the fast day, it's just the morning after that's been tough.
Hi Everyone,
I think I am going to have another crack at 16:8. I struggle a lot with energy and concentration on fasts days, which isn't good when I am trying to finish a phd :/ Also I am going away for two weeks in May, and want to try 16:8 then, so hopefully starting now will get me in the zone. I've failed at 16:8 before by being too all or nothing - i.e. eating breakfast one day then giving up. But if I try and retain some flexibility with it all...hopefully it will work for me this time.
Hi there,
Back in Melbourne and figuring out another plan of attack. I hated the protein thing, struggled with it and am still thirsty even now :frown: .
I didn't eat until lunchtime today and had a lovely Thai and didn't touch too much of the rice, although I succumbed to a small sticky black rice pudding with coconut icecream for dessert. I shan't eat until a late curry tomorrow for lunch, although a strong Melbourne coffee doesn't count!

So after three days of protein/fat, nothing changed, I just felt really uncomfortable. I'll go back to ADF next swing at work, but I am fresh out of ideas at this stage. I'll get some ketosis sticks too and see how long it takes to get into fat burning mode.

How are you going @Sue.Q, my mix it up buddy?? Did you get through your four days ok?
Hang in there my sweet @Debs - and welcome back to Melbs, enjoy your coffee!

I am finding three things that work for me -

16/8 - I don't eat until about 1.00pm everyday.

and

keeping the carbs between 30-50 gms per day.

and

plenty of water and black coffee.

I look forward to catching up with you on Monday.

cheers
Maggie
