@Debs I so get where you are at because I am in the same boat, my strategy is to have a break from harder fasting and maintain within the ball park and then hop back onto 5:2. We have no option it's just an onward journey and we have to just bear that it is harder for us to get to goal
Debs wrote: Thank you for thinking of that @MaryAnn, my thyroid is fine, I am just an awkward customer!!!
I'm sure I will figure it out at some point, it just isn't as easy as I had hoped

@Debs I swear blind that it's the carbs that do it if I put weight on. And I mean any carbs, but particularly the refined variety! I do so hope that you will be successful soon Debs. I feel for you  I really do!
Hi @izzy

Definitely agree that sleep is so important. :) Without the stress of work I am getting more sleep, so that has no doubt helped me too. I know of others with chronic poor sleep who are having lots of trouble losing weight. Seems so unfair. Solving sleep problems is not easy, nor is dealing with stress - if "you" are someone who can find a way of dealing with these fairly easily, then you are probably not suffering from them too much in the first place!!

Very best wishes for finding a way through your current situation :)
Just bumping this thread for @Sarahg hope you enjoy it, I will do the low carbers for you also

Thanks
This technology astounds me
Thanks ballerina
Interesting reading.i remember now wen I first started 5/2 last year I didn't lose anything for ages and then added a sort of 16/8 every day and the weight dropped
I kept it off for awhile but about 8 months ago I just gave it all up and after a few months all the weight I lost is back.
So I am now motivated with help, from the forum to get back into 16/8 and 5/2
Thanks
Ok, another shift, another experiment! 19:5 for me for four days and low carb and veggies to try and kick myself off my plateau. Had enough of it now, ADF hasn't done a thing, Dukan/Atkins was a failure, straight 5:2 hasn't worked for me either. Even three fasting days in a row was pointless.
Like @sue.Q, I'm not giving up but am determined to find something that works. I know it is meant to be 80:20 diet and exercise, but I do wonder if the exercise will make more of a difference for me, so I shall increase my resistance work to see if. I can burn a bit more fat. I know that may stall weight loss but at least I will know if there is a difference and it will help with toning too.

Here we go again, wish me luck........ :clover:
No one can say you haven't tried Debs so I'm really hoping that you will finally crack your plateau and find your unique solution as Sue.Q has. Best of luck and we're all rooting for you! x
Thank you! The answer is there somewhere, I'm sure of it. I'm hoping by upping my exercise I can reduce my work stress too!
:clover: Good Luck @Debs :clover:
Yes there is a key somewhere just for you, the mystery is finding it, I had far to many carbs over the weekend so its pay back with a few days reduction, but all my normal days have now become more like 18:6 this seems to fit very nicely into my life, and will go back to a weekly weigh-in.
Obviously giving up my sugar has helped me both with calories and my carbs so at least 3 days of our trial my total was probably under 20g, now the dreaded sugar has gone I can bring quite a few days in quite low towards the figures I was getting so that's the route for me
from now onwards.
Really hope this kickstarts things for you Debs you deserve payback for your perseverance, I'll still be your trial buddie because I need mine to hold at least even the small tiny losses helps our mental state because we at least know its still working. :clover: :clover: :clover:
Got EVERYTHING crossed for you Debs

@Debs this might seem a stupid question, but have you tried to cut out carbs in any shape or form for a while? I was thinking that if you can get your insulin levels as low as is humanly possible then you can't possibly put weight on and your body would have to burn fatty acids from your fat cells!!
Yep Izzy, somedays I too want to whine like a winey thing!!!!! ANyway, onwardsa nd upwards! Auriga, I did four days of just protein and it killed me! I was fat burning, I could tell but it didn't get me anywhere. gggrrrrrr
Hi @Debswas looking at your progress tracker graph and noticed you havent uploaded data since Feb 28. Can you add a few measurements on the graph. Curious how the purple line is going for you
Best of luck @Debs - as well as 16/8, low carbs (no bread) and keeping an eye on the calories, I have increased the exercise and am proud to say that I did a 30 min walk in the sunshine yesterday as well as 15 mins on the wii fit and I did another 15 mins again this morning.

Being a lazy exerciser this is a big deal for me, and already feel better within myself.

I better be careful, my hallo is slipping!!!

cheers Maggie
